Grab the car keys, the closest sharp object, and a bag of canned goods: zombies are coming. 505 Games has announced that Eko Software’s third-person action-adventure title How to Survive has been released on Live Marketplace for 360 and on Steam for PC. A recent outbreak of a mysterious virus has caused most of the world’s population to turn into zombies, and players must do everything they can to survive the undead while stranded on a small archipelago: seek out food and water, secure shelter, and scavenge items to make tools and weapons.

Deep Silver is taking the Dead Island series down the free-to-play route with a new online-only title, Dead Island: Epidemic. Dubbed a ZOMBA (Zombie Online Multiplayer Battle Arena), Epidemic will be a PC-only release featuring many of the elements the series is known for as three teams face off against one another. Publisher Deep Silver has announced the release of Techland’s latest zombie-rific action title Dead Island Riptide. Sequel to the 2011’s Dead Island, Riptide once again puts players in the shoes of stranded islanders attempting to make their escape as they try to survive a zombie apocalypse. New to the series is a fifth team member, dynamic weather conditions, co-op hub defense missions, and additional cop-op communication features.

Uprising is now available on Live Marketplace for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. The latest DLC pack, set to launch later for PC and PS3, includes four new multiplayer maps and the new star-studded Zombies mode Mob of the Dead. The maps—Encore, Magma, Studio, and Vertigo—are set in a live volcano in Japan, deserted London music festival, and futuristic skyscraper in India, while Studio is a remake of Black Ops’ Firing Range. Mob of the Dead features Ray Liotta as Billy Handsome, Chazz Palminteri as Salvatore “Sal” DeLuca, Joe Pantoliano as Al “The Weasel” Arlington, and Michael Madsen as Michael “Finn” O’Leary as inmates in Alcatraz Prison during an undead outbreak.

Treyarch is readying the release of Uprising, the second DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Set to launch on Live Marketplace on April 16, and on PSN and Steam in the near future, Uprising will include four new multiplayer maps, set in Japan (Magma), London (Encore), India (Vertigo), and Hollywood (Studio, a remake of Firing Range), and a surreal Zombies addition titled Mob of the Dead.

Tecmo Koei licensing Unreal Engine 3 for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z

It was announced today that Tecmo Koei will be using Unreal Engine 3 to aid in development of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z. The upcoming action title is a spin-off from the Ninja Gaiden series that will pit players against hordes of zombies. According to Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi, UE3 will help to speed development along by allowing the designers “to quickly and efficiently iterate on countless ideas.”

Capcom is known to enjoy a good crossover, whether it’s pitting the Street Fighter cast against Tekken’s or having them face the wrath of Mega Man. With their recent announcement, Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2, they’ve moved beyond Ryu and company and embraced their undead side. The crossover will bring all four members of Left 4 Dead 2’s cast, as well as the Witch and Mini Tank monsters, into Resident Evil 6’s The Mercenaries No Mercy mode. On the flip side, Resident Evil 6’s Lepotitsas, Napads, and Ogromans will invade Left 4 Dead 2.
