Fans of Ninja Theory’s take on Devil May Cry will get a chance to revisit an expanded version of their 2013 entry today with DmC Devil May Cry: Definitive Edition. Available for PS4 and Xbox One, the set includes an enhanced version of the original game, upgraded to run at 1080p and 60fps, all downloadable content, and several new additions, such as Vergil being playable in Vergil’s Bloody Palace. The new survival mode features enemies and locations from the post-release downloadable bonus campaign Vergil’s Downfall. Some of the other new features include the addition of a configurable targeting option, gameplay balancing, new ‘classic’ skins, and a new difficulty level, Gods Must Die Mode.

Far Cry 4: Valley of the Yetis launching tomorrow for console, PC

Ubisoft has announced that they will be launching Far Cry 4’s latest downloadable pack, Valley of the Yetis, tomorrow. After players crash-land in Kyrat, a new region added by the expansion, they must set up and defend a camp against a murderous cult known as the The Awakened Ones as well as against the wild yetis that roam the area. The game utilizes a day-and-night cycle, with players undertaking side quests during the day to fortify the camp and fend off attackers at night. By exploring more of Kyrat, players will uncover the cult’s secrets.

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend coming soon for PS, Xbox One

Aksys is keeping the 2D fighter train rolling with another release, BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend. The expanded re-release of the PS3 original will feature 28 characters, including two newcomers (Celica and Lambda), as well as new stages, scenarios, and a side story, Remix Heart, with Mai Natsume and Kajun Faycott. Digested versions of Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift are also being included to get new players up to speed on all of the storylines. New players will also have access to an expanded Stylish Mode, which has been augmented with four new features (Auto Guard, Combo Attacks, Special Abilities, and Distortion Drive) to make moves less difficult to perform. The Guard Gauge system has been tweaked, too, with the Barrier Gauge meter indicated when best to attack or block.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain release date, editions detailed

After some recent speculation, Konami has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be available on September 1 for console and September 15 for PC. It was also announced that the game will be available as a $59.99 Day 1 Edition or, for PS4 and Xbox One, a $99.99 Collector’s Edition. The Day 1 Edition will come with downloadable items, including a special cardboard box and a silver personal ballistic shield, while the Collector’s Edition will come packed with access to more DLC as well as a collectible steelbook, a behind-the-scenes Blu-ray, and half-scale replica of Snake’s bionic arm. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood standalone digital prequel coming in May

Wolfenstein: The New Order is getting a standalone, digital prequel later this year from MachineGames. Scheduled to launch May 5, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will take players back to 1946 as B.J. Blazkowicz attempts to halt the Nazi’s progress in a two-part mission set within Bavaria. The first part, Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves, tasks players with breaking into Castle Wolfenstein, while the second, The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs, sees them fighting a Nazi archaeologist meddling in dark forces within the city of Wulfburg. Grand Theft Auto Online to get new modes with Heists update

Rockstar has revealed the new content additions that are set to go live with Heists next week for GTA Online. The online component will receive additional Daily Objectives, Free Mode Activities, and new Adversary Modes. The latter will unlock as players clear Heists, and include Come Out To Play, with three runners trying to make it home before hunters track them down; Siege Mentality, which pits four defenders against six attackers; and Hasta La Vista, a race between cyclists and homicidal truckers. A new universal email notification system will also be implemented, allowing players to reach friends in other sessions, in addition to new Awards and rewards.

Activision has released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Ascendance. The footage covers the downloadable pack’s weapon additions. The video also coincides with the release of the pack to Xbox Season Pass holders, who receive early access. The latest addition is a hybrid weapon that switches between a light machinegun and a shotgun, along with an OHM-Werewolf variant.

Epic Games drops subscription model, Unreal Engine 4 now free

Epic Games has made Unreal Engine 4, the current build as well as subsequent updates, free to download. The studio is dropping their previous subscription model of $19 a month in favor of a small royalty to be paid once a sales threshold has been reached. Once a game or application has been shipped, “developers pay a 5% royalty on gross revenue after the first $3,000 per product, per quarter.” According to Epic founder and CEO Tim Sweeney, “whatever your development aspirations, Epic stands with you, both as a technology provider, and as a fellow game developer counting on UE4 to power our own games.” Sweeney’s full blog post about the company’s decision to move away from the subscription model can be found here.
