Gears of War 4 to get maps, difficulty, more with Rise of the Horde

Gears of War 4 is said to be getting its biggest update yet with the impending release of Rise of the Horde. Scheduled to launch on June 6, the free update will add 15 Horde Skills (three per class), Level 6 Skills, Loot Drops, additional difficulty levels for Campaign and Horde (Inconceivable and Ironman), and other tweaks to Horde. Also this month, two maps are returning from previous entries, Gears of War 2’s Avalanche and Gears 3’s Rust Lung. A trial is also slated to take place between June 9-15, offering players the chance to try the game for free for 10 hours, which includes the first campaign act and full access to Horde and Versus. Tekken 7 now available in stores, online for console and PC

The struggle for power over the Mishima clan comes to a head today with the release of Tekken 7. The latest entry features a new storyline that introduces several characters, including karate expert Kazumi Mishima and acrobat Lucky Chloe, along with Street Fighter’s Akuma. Combatants also have access to several new and tweaked abilities, such as Power Crushes, Rage Arts, and Rage Drives. The PS4 version adds a jukebox mode with tunes from throughout the series. For aspiring pros, an accompanied tournament will run throughout the remainder of the year and culminate in the World Finals this November, set to take place in North America.

Action role-playing game Elex releasing this fall, new trailer released

Piranha Bytes’ sci-fi-themed action role-playing game Elex has been officially dated for October 17. The open-world adventure will be set in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by several warring factions. To offer a better look at what’s in store, from character progression to potential alliances, the studio has released a new CG trailer. A Collector’s Edition was also revealed, which will come with a figurine, amulet, soundtrack, artbook, and cloth map.

Valkyria Revolution video highlights composer Yasunori Mitsuda

A new video out of Sega features composer Yasunori Mitsuda discussing the soundtrack for Valkyria Revolution. Said to be inspired by Europe’s industrial revolution, Mitsuda had the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra conduct a live concert-hall recording to capture the mood of the era. The group is joined by the Australian-Japanese singer Sarah Alainn. Sega also revealed a digital pre-order bonus that includes two scenarios (The Formation of Vanargand and The Ring of Contract), 30 ragnite shards, and a set of special combat ragnite (Time Flux+, Heal Field+, Fall Earth+, and Shine Calibur+). Additionally, PS4 owners will receive an extra digital pre-order bonus, The Princess and the Valkyria theme.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 update addresses player feedback, bugs

A new update has been released for the console and PC versions of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. The patch is said to focus on stability and bug fixing, and incorporate player feedback for general improvements. Version-specific adjustments are also included. A handful of the major updates noted include “reduced loading times, fixed game freezes, fixed discovering new Points of Interest, fixed saving issues of completed Points of Interest, fixed an issue that could cause the save files to become corrupted, fixed crash during Party Crasher mission along with numerous other improvements and changes to the game.” A full list can be found here.

Lock’s Quest returns, now available for console, PC

Digital Continue’s updated Lock’s Quest has launched for console and PC. The tower-defense-style game was originally developed by 5th Cell for Nintendo DS, and has been updated with several new modes and improvements. Some of the changes include remastered music with an orchestrated intro and ending, a progression system with plot-specific turret unlocks, a revamped AI and interface, and a new Antonia Defense Battles Endless Mode. The story remains the same, however, with players managing the defense systems of a village during a 75-day-long war.

Titanfall 2 – Monarch’s Reign adds new Titan and reimagined map

Titanfall 2’s latest download pack, Monarch’s Reign, has gone live. The drop adds the seventh multiplayer Titan, the IMC’s reverse-engineered Vanguard-class Titan dubbed Monarch. Their take focuses on support options with a unique Upgrade Core that allows for improved combat abilities during battle based on Pilot-set options. Players can also recharge the unit’s shields by drawing power from enemy or friendly Titans. Relic, a map from the original Titanfall, also returns, now set in the wreck of the IMC carrier IMS Odyssey. The pack also adds for-pay cosmetic items, art packs, and a callsign pack.

Call of Duty World League – Global Pro League Stage 1 begins today

Activision is set to run the Stage 1 Playoffs of the Call of Duty World League (CWL) in a few hours. Eight teams will square off for a share of the Global Pro League Stage 1’s $700,000 prize pool later today, beginning at 3:00 p.m. (CST). The follow-up matches will take place tomorrow, starting at noon (CST). Players can tune in at MLG.tv to watch a livestream of the program. The schedule can be found below.

Far Cry 5 announced for console, PC, arriving next February

Ubisoft has detailed the next entry in the Far Cry series. Far Cry 5 will be set in Hope County, Montana, as players take on a doomsday cult known as Project at Eden’s Gate. Shortly after the player’s arrival, the group takes over the county, forcing them to join the local resistance and square off against the zealots. The campaign will be set across farmland, forests, and mountains, and with a variety of vehicles to traverse the areas, such as airplanes, complete with dogfighting, ATVs, big rigs, muscle cars, and boats. The campaign will be playable solo, augmented by Guns for Hire and Fangs for Hire (including bears, of course), and in two-player co-op. May update adds community photos, recipe to Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix has released the May update for Final Fantasy XV. The free download adds a recipe that was voted on by players from Taiwan, Stinky Tofu, and winning community photos that can be found in the Hammerhead restaurant. The team also added an in-game survey to get feedback on future updates and downloadable packs. Looking ahead, beginning next Tuesday, players can grab the freebie Trendy Outfit for Noctis off Live and PSN.
