Need for Speed The Run bypasses roadblock, reaches store shelves
Need for Speed is back with the Frostbite 2-powered Need for Speed The Run. The eighteenth entry in the series will see players taking Jack Rourke across the country, from California to New York, in a race against 200 other drivers for $25 million. Oh, the mob and police are also close behind. Autolog support has also been implemented, so players can keep up with how their friends are doing and challenge them on the fly.

Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure gets three new characters
Three new characters are available for some Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure action: Hex, Dino-Rang, and Wrecking Ball. The undead elemental Hex is said to be good at evading enemies with ranged attacks, and she also has a Wall of Bones upgrade. Dino-range is an earth elemental that uses boomerangs to attack while staying safe inside his Obsidian Armor. And finally, Wrecking Ball is a magic elemental who attacks with a Tongue Whap and Power Belch. Well, I think I know which one will be a hit with the younger crowd.

Rayman Origins – new screens, details revealed
Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman, Beyond Good & Evil, and Raving Rabbids, will be returning to the Rayman series next month with Rayman Origins. As the November 15 release date approaches, Ubisoft has sent along some new shots showing off the 2D side-scrolling action and four-player co-op, as well as a Q&A with game director Sebastien Morin. The Q&A reveals that the game will be comprised of five universes and 10 different worlds, as well as an extra world (Land of the Livid Dead) that will be “a bit hard to reach but is a whole new universe.” Each world will unlock an ability to continue onto the next, though any planet can be revisited as many times as the player wishes.

Just Dance 3 now available for 360, Wii
Just Dance 3 is now ready for your boogying pleasure. The motion-control dancer is now available for the 360 and Wii for $39.99. The Kinect-enabled title features 40-plus tracks spanning a vast array of genres, from pop to country, four-player simultaneous play for Kinect, Just Create mode for custom routines, and four-player concurrent play for the Wii. X-Men Destiny now available, the Brotherood and X-Men want YOU!
The X-Men and Brotherhood of Mutants continue their struggle today with the release of Activision’s X-Men Destiny for the 360, DS, PS3, and Wii. As one of three new mutants who have recently discovered their latent abilities, players must pick which side they are on as they battle against and with such X-Men luminaries as Cyclops, Wolverine, Gambit, and Magneto.

Rayman Origins ventures to Comic-Con, scores new screenshots
Rayman Origins is currently making the rounds at Comic-Con, and to make sure everyone is suitably excited about Michel Ancel’s return to platform gaming, Ubisoft has released some new screenshots. Origins, set to ship this holiday for the 360, PS3, and Wii, will feature four-player co-op sidescrolling action and reveal more about Rayman’s past.

Sega announces Comic-Con 2011 pop-up arcade of playable demos
Last bit of Comic-Con news for the week, and this time it’s from Sega. Attendees looking to game it up should check out the company’s “pop-up arcade,” which will feature playable demos of Captain America: Super Soldier, House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut, Guardian Heroes, Rise of Nightmares, Renegade Ops, Shinobi, Sonic Generations, and a new, unannounced game.
