Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag detailed, trailer and screens released
As mentioned last week, Ubisoft has released new details about the upcoming sequel to Assassin’s Creed 3, Black Flag. The next installment has been in development for around two years, with efforts headed by Ubisoft Montreal and six other Ubi studios in support, and will be available for 360, PC, PS3, PS4, and Wii U, as well as “other next generation consoles” (i.e. Xbox Square, or whatever it’ll be called). The game will be available for the current slate of systems—360, PS3, and Wii U—this fall, on October 29.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag confirmed by Ubisoft
The rumored pirate-themed fourth entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise has been confirmed today by Ubisoft. The notice was pretty sparse, save for the piece of included art, with only a notice that the official title is Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and that more will be revealed on March 4.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U to get direct play, x-region patch
A post-launch update has been announced for the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Capcom stated that the patch is a result of fan feedback and will add support for cross-region functionality—compatible with North American and European versions of the game—and off-TV direct play for the GamePad.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate demo launches on eShop for 3DS, Wii U
A demo for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, the upcoming Monster Hunter Tri enhanced re-release, has launched on eShop for 3DS and Wii U. The single-player trial include two full quests—one for beginners, one for intermediate players—12 different weapon options, and both land and sea battles.

The Amazing Spider-Man Ultimate Edition announced for Wii U
Spider-Man will be making his Wii U debut on March 5 with the recently announced The Amazing Spider-Man Ultimate Edition. The new version of The Amazing Spider-Man will include the four bonus DLC packs on-disc that were released for the 360, PC, and PS3, detailed below, and support for the GamePad. The pad will be turned into an Oscorp OsPhone for easier map and menu navigation, and utilized for Off-screen Mode for playing directly on the pad itself.

Aliens: Colonial Marines Season Pass, pre-order DLC detailed
Gamers interested in Sega and Gearbox’s upcoming xenomorph-y shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines will be able to snag all DLC at a discount, or score the first for free, courtesy of Walmart. With launch just a week away, gamers can purchase all DLC for %40 off, $29.99, with the Season One pass, which will include four packs that include new campaign and multiplayer content. The first pack can be snagged for free, however, by pre-ordering the game at Walmart. The first download, the multiplayer-centric, Horde-style Bug Hunt, will include three new maps and launch in March.

Rayman Legends announced for 360 and PS3, delayed for Wii U
Rayman fans, there is some good news and some bad news. The good news is for 360 and PS3 owners: Rayman Legends has been announced for both systems. The bad news is for Wii U owners: the Wii U version has been delayed. With the decision to go multiplatform, Ubisoft has decided to have all titles launch at the same time, which is currently sometime in September. Ubisoft Montpellier, the studio behind the Wii U version, is also developing the 360 and PS3 versions.

Sniper Elite V2 launching this spring for Wii U
Sniper Elite V2, already available for PC as well as 360 and PS3, will be making its way to the Wii U this spring. 505 Games announced that Rebellion’s WWII shooter will feature a revamped control scheme that utilizes the GamePad’s touch screen. The game will also retain its kill cam view, the cinematic sequences that depict particularly skilful fatal shots in slow motion with the bullet passing through an x-ray of the victim to illustrate trajectory and damage.

Skylanders Giants event taking place Feb. 5 at flagship Toys “R” Us
Skylander fans will be able to snag the upcoming character Ninjini before its official launch, and a few discounted figures as well, on February 5 at an event at Toys “R” Us Times Square. The festivities are in honor of the annual International Toy Fair, and in celebration, the first to line up will receive a free Ninjini figure. Those who show up later will still be able to participate in giveaways and a day-long sale, which includes $25 off a Giants Starter Pack and a ‘buy 2, get 1 free’ for figures. Characters will be on hand to greet attendees, and playable demos will be setup at kiosks.

THQ announces results of asset sale, Crytek, Sega, Ubisoft buy
THQ has announced the results of their recent asset sale, and the details, which include the new homes of Homefront and Metro: Last Light, can be found below. In regards to what will be done with the acquired studios and properties, the company states that they expect “the new owners to extend employment to most employees and to continue development of the games they purchased that are currently in development.” All of those assets that were not sold, including Darksiders stewards Vigil Games, “will remain part of the Chapter 11 case.“ As of their announcement, the THQ estate will receive around $72 million and employee a small staff to assist during the transition period.
