inXile updates console version of Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut

The first patch has been released for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut. There are 10 bug fixes and over 20 balance-related issues tweaked in the update. Some of the changes made include improved sound positioning in conversations, increased time for animal husbandry engage, and the removal of Friendly Fire from Master Hunter. A new gameplay video has gone live for Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut. The footage runs around five minutes long and features Brian Fargo, CEO of inXile, detailing the game’s reactivity-focused design. The first trailer has gone live for the Director’s Cut of Wasteland 2. The video, Welcome to the Wasteland, gives a live-action recap of the events leading up to the world’s apocalyptic state and an overview of those that currently inhabit it. The Director’s Cut features all of the updates to the PC version, improved graphics, additional voice-over work, gameplay tweaks, and new features. It will also mark the title’s console debut, releasing for both PS4 and Xbox One.

Bard’s Tale IV early backers to get Wasteland 2, Witcher 1 or Witcher 2

inXile has sweetened the pot for The Bard’s Tale IV’s Kickstarter campaign by tossing in a free game. Backers who put towards the game within the first 24 hours of the campaign’s launch will receive a free copy of Wasteland 2, The Witcher, or The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The freebie is part of the $20 and up reward tiers, and the game will be available once the campaign ends. Wasteland 2 will be delivered via Steam or GOG.com, while both Witchers will be delivered through GOG.com. The campaign is set to kick off on June 2 at 8 a.m. (CST).

Wasteland 2 development wraps, final version to launch next month

The post-apocalyptic role-playing game Wasteland 2 will launch on September 19, according to developer inXile. The crowd-funded title has been available for several months to early backers in test form, but next month marks its final release in both digital and physical formats. The announcement also noted that the studio has used earnings from early sales, as well as some dosh chipped in by CEO Brian Fargo, has allowed the studio to double the title’s budget to over $5 million.

Wasteland 2 – Digital Deluxe Edition adds Bard’s Tale, now on sale

inXile has announced that the Early Access version of Wasteland 2 – Digital Deluxe Edition is part of the Steam Summer Sale, and that they have added a copy of the 2004 reimagined Bard’s Tale to the package. Other extras with the Digital Deluxe include beta access to Wasteland 2, a copy of the first Wasteland, a soundtrack, an artbook, and two novellas. The 15% discount currently running on Steam will be good throughout the Summer Sale. Additionally, all of the Kickstarter and late backers now have access to the Wasteland 2 beta through Early Access.

Wasteland 2 gets first major update, includes 2,000+ fixes, new areas

inXile has released the first major update for Wasteland 2. The patch, coming two months after the game made its debut on Steam Early Access, includes “over 2000 bug fixes, gameplay features, performance optimizations and balance improvements along with hours of new content.” An entire section has been added as well, a Prison level for those itching for a tough fight, plus several smaller maps. inXile estimates that the new areas push the gameplay past the 30-hour mark.

Wasteland 2 enters beta for backers, Steam Early Access tomorrow

inXile’s first Kickstarter-funded project, Wasteland 2, has entered beta. The post-apocalyptic role-playing game, sequel to 1988’s pioneering Wasteland, is now playable for campaign backers and will enter Steam Early Access tomorrow for everyone else. The sequel is set 15 years after the original with players taking control of a party of Desert Rangers who are out to protect the wastes. The beta includes four major areas, along with their side areas, plus the character-creation system, world map travel, and random encounters. Additional areas set to be added as development continues.
