Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Wasteland 1 – The Original Classic
inXile has announced that the Early Access version of Wasteland 2 – Digital Deluxe Edition is part of the Steam Summer Sale, and that they have added a copy of the 2004 reimagined Bard’s Tale to the package. Other extras with the Digital Deluxe include beta access to Wasteland 2, a copy of the first Wasteland, a soundtrack, an artbook, and two novellas. The 15% discount currently running on Steam will be good throughout the Summer Sale. Additionally, all of the Kickstarter and late backers now have access to the Wasteland 2 beta through Early Access.
inXile has brought back Wasteland. Not the successful Kickstarter-funded sequel but the 1988 original, courtesy of digital distribution. Released last Friday as a backer reward for its Kickstarter campaign, Wasteland 1 – The Original Classic is now available for all via GOG.com and Steam. The $5.99 download takes players back to 2087, 89 years after a nuclear war has left Earth irradiated and nearly uninhabitable. As the leader of a band of Rangers, players will take to the wilds in order to battle bandits and mutated animals as they track down a new, even more dangerous threat. This latest version has been updated to run on modern systems and includes an expanded save function, new voice-over work, support for higher resolutions (with a choice of classic or smooth visuals), tracks from Wasteland 2, and text from the original pack-in book and manual.
