Far Cry Classic taking players back to the jungle next week

Far Cry Classic, an updated re-release of the original Far Cry, will be available on February 11 on Live and PSN, according to Ubisoft. Previously scheduled for launch as part of Microsoft’s 2013 Summer Arcade promo, this new version will run $9.99 and feature updated graphics, a new interface, and improved cutscenes. Far Cry Classic is not included in the upcoming Far Cry Compilation, but it is in the European version, titled Far Cry The Wild Expedition.

Aurora to return home on April 30 with release of Child of Light

Ubisoft has revealed that their upcoming turn-based role-playing game Child of Light will be released on April 30. The downloadable title will be available on eShop for Wii U, Live for 360 and Xbox One, PSN for PS3 and PS4, and Steam for PC. The Framework-powered adventure is being labeled a “reimagining of fairytales” and will have players take on the role of Aurora as she journeys through the world of Lemuria. After being taken from her home, she sets out to make her way back but discovers that she must first free the moon, stars, and sun from the clutches of the Queen of the Night. She will face dragons and monsters along the way, but also find help in new allies, including the firefly Igniculus.

Might & Magic X – Legacy journeys forth, final version now on Steam

Might & Magic X – Legacy has graduated from Early Access to full release today. The Open Development phase began in August with the first act, and now gamers can trek through the single-player campaign in its entirety. In keeping with the series, players will form a party and venture in and around Karthal, meeting non-playable characters, taking on quests, and battling in turn-based combat.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation has made the leap from handheld today with an HD re-release for 360, PC, and PS3. Set prior to the Revolutionary War, Liberation puts players in the role of Aveline, the first playable female Assassin, who must use her varied arsenal, including a whip, a machete, and poison darts, to take down enemies across the world, from the streets of New Orleans to Mayan ruins. The new version has been remastered in high definition and features “improved gameplay mechanics and missions.”

Far Cry’s 10 years celebrated with Far Cry Compilation for PS3

To commemorate the Far Cry series’ 10-year anniversary, Ubisoft will be releasing a new collection for PS3. Far Cry Compilation, scheduled to be released on February 11, will include 2008’s Far Cry 2 as well as 2012’s Far Cry 3 and 2013’s Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. No word how (or if) Far Cry will make its way into the collection.

Rayman Legends bounding onto PS4 and Xbox One in 2014

Rayman will be making his way to the newest console generation early next year with the release of Rayman Legends for PS4 and Xbox One. Scheduled to launch on February 25, the next-gen version of Legends will sport improved visuals, reduced load times, and unique costumes (Splinter Ray, Ray Vaas, and Globox Vass on Xbox One and Assassin Ray on PS4). Several new features are also being added, with the Xbox One version receiving 10 exclusive challenges and time-limited Achievements for Xbox One and the PS4 version receiving controller touchpad support for scratching Lucky Tickets and Remote Play on PS Vita.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag sets sail for PC and Xbox One

As of today, with the release of the PC and Xbox One versions, Assassin’s Creed of Black Flag is now available for all announced platforms. As Edward Kenway, a former Royal Navy privateer turned pirate, players will sail around the West Indies in search of Templar and plunder. True to pirate form, players will be able to raid ports, hijack ships, and even exchange cannon fire with Blackbeard and other famous pirates from the era.

Modding Kit, more added to Might & Magic X – Legacy Early Access

Gamers who are part of Might & Magic X – Legacy’s Early Access program on Steam will be able to craft their own adventure today with the launch of the official Modding Kit. The included tools, which are part of the game’s second update, allow players to craft maps and mods as well as share their work and access other user-created content. A Maps & Mods tab will be added to the Open Development Blog later this year. An important note is that mapping and modding require Unity Pro, a popular software suite that is known for being beginner friendly and has a free 30-day trial but—and this is a big “but”—thereafter costs a hefty $1,500.

Assassin’s Creed officially enters the next generation today with the release of Black Flag for PS4. The latest entry in the series, currently available for 360, PC, PS3, and Wii U, transports gamers to the Golden Age of Pirates. As Edward Kenway, former Royal Navy privateer turned pirate, players will chase down Templars throughout the West Indies, raid ports, hijack ships, and meet other famous pirates, such as Blackbeard and Charles Vane. The PS4 version also supports Remote Play with PS Vita, allowing gamers to continue playing on the go using a local network via WiFi.

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag goes goooooooooooold for PC

The PC version of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag has gone gold, according to Ubisoft. Gamers will have the chance to buy it in one of three versions: Standard, Deluxe Edition (bonus locations, items, and adventure featuring Liberation’s Aveline), or Uplay Deluxe Edition (all of the Deluxe Edition’s content as well as the Pride of the West Indies pack). The standard and deluxe editions will be available in stores and online, while the Uplay release is online only as it is exclusive to Ubisoft’s digital outlet. It was also noted that Nvidia card users will also have access to special features, such as God Rays, percentage-closer soft shadows, and temporal anti-aliasing. Several GeForce cards (list) have been bundled with digital copies of both Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Black Flag.
