Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s third downloadable pack, Descent, got its first trailer today. The add-on, debuting on PSN on July 12, features four multiplayer maps as well as the next installment in Zombies. The maps, detailed below, include Empire, a reimagined versions of Black Ops II’s Raid; Berserk, a Viking village; Rumble, set in an arena where giant robots battle; and Cryogen, a prison filled with cryogenic tubes. The new Zombies entry, Gorod Krovi, sees the Origins gang in an alternate USSR where the remains of Stalingrad are dominated by mechanized zombies.

Call of Duty XP 2016 detailed, hands-on with Infinite Warfare, events

Activision is preparing to open ticket sales for Call of Duty XP 2016, “the biggest Call of Duty fan event in history.” Running from September 2-4 in Los Angeles, the Call of Duty World League will host the final teams for $2 million in prizes at the Call of Duty World League Championship. The event will also feature hands-on demos of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered multiplayer,and new downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. There will also be exhibits, developer panels, a surprise musical guest, paintball in a life-sized replica of Black Ops’ Nuketown map, Zombies laser tag, and the first Call of Duty VR experience that will include piloting a Jackal. Tickets will go on sale at noon (CST) on June 11 for $49, $129, and $199. Full details are below. A new trailer has gone live for the next entry in Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s Zombies mode, Zetsubou No Shima. Part of the upcoming Eclipse add-on, Zetsubou No Shima follows Der Eisendrache with the Origins characters stranded on a remote island in the Pacific. After finding a lab that’s been experimenting with Element 115, the group must explore the facilities while battling new enemies, avoiding traps, and tacking side quests.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s second downloadable pack, Eclipse, will be launching on PSN on April 19. As with its predecessors, the drop will debut for PS4 with PC and Xbox One versions following afterwards. Eclipse will come with four multiplayer maps—Knockout, Rift, Spire, and Verge—with one being a re-imagining of World at War’s Banzai. Details for each can be found below. A new Zombies entry is also in the pack, Zetsubou No Shima. The latest chapter follows the Origin characters as they make their way to the Division 9 facility in the Pacific—during World War II.

Activision has released Call of Duty: Black Ops III Multiplayer Starter Pack for PC. The multiplayer-only download is even more streamlined than the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Black Ops III, and will be unlisted on February 29. The pack allows access to public ranked matches as well as Arena, Black Market, Freerun, Gunsmith, Theater, and Weapon Paint Shop. The download costs $14.99, and for those who end up wanting the complete experience, an in-game option allows players to upgrade to the full version.

Activision to boost eSports presence with Call of Duty World League

Activision has created a global eSports league for Call of Duty, the aptly named Call of Duty World League. The program is being set up to encourage casual fans to try their hand at competitive play and “provide a deeper level of engagement” for current professionals. The league will consist of two divisions, The Pro Division and The Challenge Division, with the latter providing an avenue for amateurs to win a spot at the Call of Duty Championship. Activision is ponying up $3 million in prizes and has set up a team to help facilitate the league leading up to and after its launch alongside Black Ops III. Full details can be found below.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III PS4 multiplayer beta extended until tonight

Treyarch has announced through their Twitter account that they are extending the Call of Duty: Black Ops III PS4 beta through 10 p.m. (PST) tonight. They also added and adjusted several items during the weekend. The Spectre specialist was added, as was a new attack-and-defend mode, Safeguard, and the level cap was increased to 40. Call of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer beta is a go for PS4

The multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops III is now live for PS4. From today until Sunday, early buyers will be able to try out three maps, seven modes, eight Specialists (two of which haven’t been revealed), and weapon-customization options. For those that take part, a feedback form has been set up so that Treyarch can get an idea of players’ thoughts on the current state of multiplayer. Events are also planned during the period, but no info is as yet known as to what’s in store. To keep up to date on all of the events, keep an eye on Treyarch’s blog, which will be updated throughout the period.
