Zen Studios reveals tower defenser CastleStorm
The pinball wizards at Zen Studios are setting their sights on the tower defense genre. The studio has announced their plans to release CastleStorm, a 2D physics-based game centered on long-range warfare and resource management. Players will have access to a variety of spells, troops, and missiles, including morning stars, homing eagles, and flying sheep, to fend off invading troops attempting to storm their castle (ha!).

Plants vs. Zombies now available for PS Vita
Plants and zombies, forever enemies. The war between flora and the undead continues on the PS Vita with the release of PopCap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies. The new handheld version will support the system’s touchscreen and motion sensors, as well as sport five game modes, 20 minigames, 18 puzzle games, and 10 survival games.

Unstoppable Gorg demo available for Mac, Windows PC
A demo of Futuremark’s B-movie-themed tower defense title Unstoppable Gorg is now available for Windows PC and Mac. The demo includes four levels, cutscenes, challenges, and access to Arcade mode.

Trenched to become Iron Brigade, march on Europe
Double Fine’s mech-centric tower defense title Trenched is being renamed to Iron Brigade for its European release on November 30. Iron Brigade will be sporting all of the content from Trenched as well as a new Survival Mode, with an accompanying leaderboard, and 10 new pieces of loot. Current owners will receive the new goods as a free update.

Futuremark needs beta testers’ help against the Unstoppable Gorg
Futuremark needs you. The studio is looking for PC gamers to help them test out their upcoming tower defense-style title, Unstoppable Gorg. Inspired by sci-fi films from the days when men in costumes were super-powered Venusians, players must protect our solar system from the Gorg using a series of satellites. Dungeon Defenders 360, PC release date announced
Dungeon Defenders, Trendy Entertainment’s upcoming download-only hybrid action-RPG tower defense title, is set to launch this fall for the 360, PC, and PS3. D3Publisher and Reverb Publishing have announced that gamers will be able to enjoy some fantastically fantasy four-player co-op action on October 19 when it launches on Live. A release date for the PSN launch should be revealed shortly.

Dead Block – map pack DLC launches on Live Arcade
Candygun Games’ Dead Block, a tower defense-style game set around a zombie apocalypse, has received its first DLC pack on Live Arcade. Now available for 240 MS Points, the pack includes four new levels (Motel, Office Building, Slaughterhouse, and Turkish Bath) that are playable in both single and multiplayer modes. Also included are customized intro cutscenes and updated leaderboards.
