Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut shipping to retail Oct. 22

Square Enix has announced that Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut, the one-time Wii U exclusive, will launch on October 22 for 360, PC, PS3, and Wii U. A Mac OS X version is slated for release “in the near future.” The Director’s Cut adds Miiverse integration and GamePad support for the Wii U version, Smartglass support for the 360 version, and PS Vita touchscreen support for the PS3 version. A host of general improvements and extras are slated to be included as well, such as the Missing Link DLC, developer commentary, overhauled boss fights, and refined graphics, control, and AI.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut detailed, trailer released

Square Enix has released a new trailer for the upcoming Director’s Cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as well as a host of details about the many (many) improvements that are in store. The full details are available below, but some of the highlights include redesigned boss fights, which will feature new map layouts and tweaks to allow for non-violent victories; an improved energy-charging system so augments can be used more frequently; eight hours of director’s commentary; a 45-minute making-of movie; direct play via the GamePad; and the integration of the Missing Link DLC. In the ‘pleasantly surprising news’ category, Square Enix has announced that they will be releasing a Director’s Cut of Eidos Montreal’s action role-playing game Deus Ex: Human Revolution. What should excite Wii U owners the most isn’t the GamePad support for touchscreen hacking and map editing, Miiverse integration, inclusion of the Missing Link DLC, developer commentary, or improved graphics, control, and AI. No, they should be excited about the overhauled boss fights. Not that the other stuff isn’t worth getting excited about, because they should make a great game even better, it’s just that the boss fights were absolutely terrible.

Adam Jensen is quite out of the woods yet. Come next month, Jensen will find himself back into the thick of things with The Missing Link DLC for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The pack will be available for all platforms and PC, including OnLive. Taking place during the three days when he was out of reach, Jensen will find himself crippled by Belltower agents after being tortured and having his augments disabled. Players will get to rebuild Jensen’s augment loadout as they uncover a new storyline and encounter new characters.
