Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: The Guild
Three new screens were released for The Guild 3. The shots cover the political side of the dynastic simulator. In the upcoming entry, players will be able to utilize an ‘automatic’ economy system so that they can focus on their political rivals rather than their ledgers. Keeping an eye on others will be necessary because, as with the first two games, rivals can bring players to court or block them from attaining office. Just as current office holders vote for who will take over a vacancy, three judges will pass verdict on those brought to trial. Popular opinion affects both systems, and will benefit the player if they are supported by the people. Similarly, if they suspect that the player’s been up to no good, through bad backroom deals or excessive nepotism, the townsfolk will turn on them. A new AI based on a six-trait system will guide all proceedings, and is said to cause behavioral patterns to evolve during play.
Nordic Games GmbH has acquired the “brands, products and selected subsidiaries” of both JoWooD and The Adventure Company. The companies will become publishing labels within Nordic Games GmbH, who plans on bringing back some of the studios’ more popular franchises, including Arcania, Painkiller, Neighbours From Hell, Panzer Elite, SpellForce, and The Guild.
