Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: The Amazing Spider-Man
Virtual webslingers who enjoy the fancier things in life will get to fill Peter Parker’s closet with new spider suits, for free, courtesy of GameStop’s Web Threads Suit Pack pre-order bonus. Gamers who purchase The Amazing Spider-Man 2 before April 29 will be able to access four additional costumes, all of which were available in previous Spidey titles: the red-and-gold Iron Suit, the blue-and-white Cosmic Suit, the Venom-styled Black Suit, and the 1940s-era Noir Suit. Each outfit will also bestow unique combat perks.
Activision has officially announced the upcoming game tie-in for Marvel’s upcoming film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Revealed at this year’s Comic-Con, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is being developed by Beenox and will be available for 360, 3DS, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One. As with its predecessor, the game will be a third-person action-adventure title that allows players to venture around New York City as they stop muggers, bank robbers, and villains of the super sort. The events will be different from those in the film, and Peter Parker will be given a larger role as Spider-Man faces a new Hero or Menace system that alters the city depending on how much crime he stops.
Spider-Man will be making his Wii U debut on March 5 with the recently announced The Amazing Spider-Man Ultimate Edition. The new version of The Amazing Spider-Man will include the four bonus DLC packs on-disc that were released for the 360, PC, and PS3, detailed below, and support for the GamePad. The pad will be turned into an Oscorp OsPhone for easier map and menu navigation, and utilized for Off-screen Mode for playing directly on the pad itself.
The Amazing Spider-Man is available digitally today, as well as some pre-order and post-launch downloadable content. The full game is now available from Live Games on Demand for 4800 MS Points, PS Store for PS3 for $59.99, and Steam for PC for $49.99. A host of downloadable content, detailed below, has also been released: Oscorp Search & Destroy Pack, Rhino Challenge Pack, Stan Lee Adventure Pack, and the new Lizard Rampage Pack. The packs range in price from 240 MS Points/$2.99 to 320 MS Points/$3.99, and can be purchased as a set on PS Store for $9.99.
Beenox is following up last year’s Spider-Man: Edge of Time today with The Amazing Spider-Man. Serving as an epilog to the upcoming film, the Seamus Fahey-penned story follows the webcrawler’s exploits after the films ends as he faces off against Scorpion, Rhino, Black Cat, and other famous reimagined villains. Open-world gameplay and Bruce Campbell return to the series, while new powers, including Web Rush, are introduced into the universe.
Webhead fanatics looking forward to Activision’s upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man will want to take note of a number of new pre-order programs announced today. Gamers who put down some cash on a copy before its launch on June 26 will be able to access the Rhino Challenge (GameStop) or a special mission starring a playable Stan Lee (Amazon.com). Both extras are available for a limited time and only for the 360 and PS3 versions.
