Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Techland
inXile and Techland Publishing are teaming up to publish console versions of Torment: Tides of Numenera for PS4 and Xbox One. The Kickstarter-backed sci-fi-themed role-playing game was originally scheduled to launch for PC early next year, but the new partnership will find all versions releasing at the same time. Both console versions will be at this year’s Gamescom, and a new announcement trailer offers a first look. No word on if backers will be able to switch their reward to one of the console versions.
Dead Island Definitive Collection has hit store shelves and digital outlets. The enhanced re-release bundles together Dead Island Definitive Edition, Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition, and the new Dead Island Retro Revenge. The older titles sport graphical improvements that utilize Techland’s new engine, upgrading them with enhanced texture quality, photorealistic lighting system, more realistic physically based shading, HBAO and motion blur effects, and updated models. The interface has undergone a change as well to be uniform across both titles. As a bonus, an unofficial PC mod was also added to both, Power Fists Power-up (One Punch Mode). On the opposite end of the spectrum, Dead Island Retro Revenge is a retro-style side-scrolling beat ‘em up.
Deep Silver has released the first video of Dead Island Retro Revenge. The 16-bit-style beat ‘em up is a free pack-in with Dead Island Definitive Collection. The video is narrated by Max, the Jack Black-sounding protagonist who is on a quest to find his cat through the zombie-filled streets of California. He’s not only up against the undead but also corrupt soldiers and rowdy inmates. In addition to a variety of weapons, he’ll also have access to power-ups, super attacks, and combos.
A new, bloody trailer has gone live for Dead Island Definitive Collection. The sampling of carnage is taken from the definitive editions of Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide, which will be included in the collection. The PS4 and Xbox One retail releases will also come with the new mini-game Dead Island Retro Revenge.
Ten new screenshots have been released from Dead Island Definitive Collection. The upcoming enhanced re-release will bundle Dead Island Definitive Edition, Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition, and Dead Island Retro Revenge with numerous graphical improvements using Techland’s new engine. Some of the upgrades include enhanced texture quality, photorealistic lighting system, more realistic physically based shading, added HBAO and motion blur effects, and updated models. The interface is also being updated to be uniform across the included titles. The PS4 version of Dead Island Definitive Collection will support four-player co-op, PS Vita Remote Play, Share Play, streaming, and recording, and is now up for pre-order. Early buyers will receive a system theme.
