Dimensions collide once more, Tales of Xillia 2 now available for PS3

Role-playing fans are getting the chance to continue last year’s excellent Tales of Xillia storyline today with Tales of Xillia 2. The sequel is set a few years after the events of the original and follows the adventures of cooking enthusiast Ludger Kresnik and his new friend Elle Marta. The element of choice is being expanded this time around, with characters, including party members, reacting differently depending on how Ludger handles various conversations and interactions, which will open new progression paths. Players can also quickly choose which of three weapons they wish to use during combat by initiating a Weapon Swap as well as call in allies using the new Cross Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System. Also, fans who have save files from Tales of Graces f or the first Xillia will receive bonus items, while owners of costume DLC for Xillia will be able to access the gear in Xillia 2.

Jude and Leia return in new Tales of Xillia 2 screenshots

Over a dozen new screenshots from Tales of Xillia have been released by Bandai Namco. Scheduled to release this August, the sequel follows Elle and Ludger on their way to the Land of Canaan, but the screenshots feature two of their friends, original adventurers Jude and Leia. Jude is now a researcher, trying to replace spyrix with spyrite, and Leia is a reporter for a newspaper in Elympios. Both are working towards unifying the peoples of Rieze Maxia and Elympios after the worlds came into contact with each other during the events of the first Tales of Xillia.

Bandai Namco announces Grid Autosport, Tales of Hearts R, more

Bandai Namco has announced a slew of new titles across all platforms. Some of the highlights include the development of Grid Autosport for 360, PC, and PS3, the localization of both Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment and Tales of Hearts R for PS Vita, and details about Tales of Xillia 2’s $130 Collector’s Edition. Tales of Symphonia Chronicles launching tomorrow, trailer released

Namco Bandai has released a new trailer for the release of Tales of Symphonia Chronicles. The PS3 set includes the GameCube entry Tales of Symphonia and its Wii follow-up, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Chronicles adds the original Japanese voice-overs, new art during Mystic Artes attacks, and new costumes as well as a new casino area for Tales of Symphonia.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles up for pre-order on PSN, CE detailed

Role-playing fans looking forward to Tales of Symphonia Chronicles can now pre-order a digital copy for $39.99. Purchasing it early will net buyers the same system theme included with the Collector’s Edition to boot. Speaking of which, the $99.95 Collector’s Edition’s contests were finalized as well, with the set including five Chibi Kyun Chara character figurines, a novel that bridges the gap between the titles (Successors of Hope), a four-disc soundtrack, a custom theme, a steelbook case, and special packaging with artwork from ufotable. Namco Bandai also announced the production of an additional 3,000 units of the Collector’s Edition in order to meet pre-order demand.

Tales series celebrates turning 20 with a new entry, Tales of Zestiria

Namco Bandai is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Tales series with a brand-new commemorative title for PS3, Tales of Zestiria. The series will return to a fantasy setting with Zestiria, and feature new characters designed by all four series designers—Mutsumi Inomata, Kosuke Fujishima, Daigo Okumura, and Minoru Iwamoto—as well as cutscenes by ufotable.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles Collector’s Edition revealed

Namco Bandai has announced that Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, a two-for-one single-disc release that will include updated versions of Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, will also be coming out as a limited premium release. The Tales of Symphonia Chronicles Collector’s Edition will include five Chibi Kyun Chara figurines of characters from both games, a paperback novel that bridges the gap between the titles, a multi-disc sountrack, and special packaging with artwork from ufotable. The CE will be limited to 15,000 copies and cost $99.95. In addition, new screenshots were also released from both games.

The Tales series continues today with a brand-new entry, Tales of Xillia. The PS3 exclusive follows medical student Jude Mathis and Milla Maxwell, a shadowy figure who is followed by four invisible creatures, as they venture about Rieze Maxia in a quest to restore mana to the world. The game is played from both perspectives until the two cross paths and join forces after finding out the cause of the disruption. The series’ real-time battle system returns, but it now allows characters to link together for support and linked artes attacks.
