Dimensions collide once more, Tales of Xillia 2 now available for PS3

Role-playing fans are getting the chance to continue last year’s excellent Tales of Xillia storyline today with Tales of Xillia 2. The sequel is set a few years after the events of the original and follows the adventures of cooking enthusiast Ludger Kresnik and his new friend Elle Marta. The element of choice is being expanded this time around, with characters, including party members, reacting differently depending on how Ludger handles various conversations and interactions, which will open new progression paths. Players can also quickly choose which of three weapons they wish to use during combat by initiating a Weapon Swap as well as call in allies using the new Cross Dual Raid Linear Motion Battle System. Also, fans who have save files from Tales of Graces f or the first Xillia will receive bonus items, while owners of costume DLC for Xillia will be able to access the gear in Xillia 2.

Jude and Leia return in new Tales of Xillia 2 screenshots

Over a dozen new screenshots from Tales of Xillia have been released by Bandai Namco. Scheduled to release this August, the sequel follows Elle and Ludger on their way to the Land of Canaan, but the screenshots feature two of their friends, original adventurers Jude and Leia. Jude is now a researcher, trying to replace spyrix with spyrite, and Leia is a reporter for a newspaper in Elympios. Both are working towards unifying the peoples of Rieze Maxia and Elympios after the worlds came into contact with each other during the events of the first Tales of Xillia.

Bandai Namco announces Grid Autosport, Tales of Hearts R, more

Bandai Namco has announced a slew of new titles across all platforms. Some of the highlights include the development of Grid Autosport for 360, PC, and PS3, the localization of both Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment and Tales of Hearts R for PS Vita, and details about Tales of Xillia 2’s $130 Collector’s Edition. The Tales series continues today with a brand-new entry, Tales of Xillia. The PS3 exclusive follows medical student Jude Mathis and Milla Maxwell, a shadowy figure who is followed by four invisible creatures, as they venture about Rieze Maxia in a quest to restore mana to the world. The game is played from both perspectives until the two cross paths and join forces after finding out the cause of the disruption. The series’ real-time battle system returns, but it now allows characters to link together for support and linked artes attacks.

Tales of Xillia 2 confirmed for North America, coming 2014

More good news for Tales fans today. Following last month’s announcement that Tales of Symphonia Chronicles will be launching next year in North America, Namco Bandai has revealed that they will also be localizing and publishing Tales of Xillia 2. Tales of Xillia is just over a month out, and its sequel is scheduled to launch on our side of the pond next year. The follow-up takes place a year after Tales of Xillia, with players helping aspiring cook Ludger Kresnik make his way through a dangerous journey alongside a new acquaintance, Elle Marta. Choice will be a major factor in the game, with players making key choices that will decide which path Ludger takes in a branching storyline.

Tales of Xillia Limited Edition announced as first-run bonus

Tales fans looking forward to Tales of Xillia will be able to snag an early run Limited Edition. Similar to how Atlus and NIS America bundle goodies with the first print run of their games, Namco Bandai will be including several bonuses with the first-run copies of the standard $59.99 release: a character profile booklet, a soundtrack, and two downloadable costumes. A pre-order will guarantee a Limited Edition copy, and those who have already pre-ordered the standard version will have their order automatically upgraded.

Tales of Xillia Collector’s Edition announced, new screens released

Namco Bandai has revealed that they will be releasing a Collector’s Edition of Tales of Xillia. The $99.99 premium set will be available alongside the standard version on August 6, and include an art book, a figurine of Milla Maxwell, and a soundtrack with a handful of selected tracks. Seven new screenshots were also released, and have been posted below.

Tales of Xillia, Naruto Shippuden panels announced for WonderCon

Attendees at this year’s WonderCon in Anaheim will be able to attend panels on Tales of Xillia and Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. Namco Bandai has announced that the Tales panel will be headed by producer Hideo Baba, while Hiroshi Matsuyama, CEO and President of CyberConnect2, will be at the Naruto panel. Both gentlemen will also be available throughout the weekend to meet fans and sign items at Namco Bandai’s booth (#1307). Full details are available below.

The PS3-exclusive role-playing game isn’t due out until next year, so eager Tales fans will just have to make do with the latest batch of shots to come out of Namco Bandai.
