Techland offers extra weapons as Dying Light pre-order perk

Techland has kicked off a new pre-order perk program for Dying Light. Players who buy the game before launch will receive special in-game weapons through weapon dockets that are redeemed in-game by the Quartermaster. The sooner players pre-order, the more weapons they will be rewarded. At the moment, since there are eight weeks until launch, eight dockets are on offer. Each docket will include a weapon from one of the game’s higher tiers, rare, exceptional, or legendary. Current and future pre-orders will need to sign up at dockets.dyinglight.com to receive their goodies.

Alien: Isolation update adds Nightmare and Novice difficulty models

A new update has been released for Alien: Isolation that adds two additional difficulty models, Nightmare and Novice. Novice adds additional resources and ammunition, weakens the strength of androids and survivors, and makes distracting a less-aggressive Alien easier in certain portions of the game. On the other end of the spectrum is Nightmare, which limits resources, increases the strength of androids and survivors, upgrades the Alien AI, and starts the player off with a broken tracker that has a distorted display. The Harran Crisis unfolds in Dying Light intro cinematic

The opening movie from Dying Light has been released by developer Techland. The intro catches up with the city of Harran after a deadly outbreak and sets up the battle between the game’s two main factions, the privately funded humanitarian organization Global Relief Effort and the city’s Ministry of Defense. Dying Light story, factions revealed in new trailer

A new story trailer has been released for Dying Light. According to the game’s co-author Rafal Orkan, the team drew inspiration from several literary works, including Heart of Darkness and The Plague. As secret operative Kyle Crane, players must sneak into the quarantine zone of a city that’s been overtaken by zombies and navigate their way around hordes of zombies and warring factions.

Resident Evil remake progress revealed in 19 new screenshots

Capcom has released nearly 20 new screenshots from the upcoming remastered version of Resident Evil. The new version is based on the GameCube re-release from 2002 and is currently in development for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. This latest iteration will sport upgraded textures, remastered audio with support for 5.1, the choice between 4:3 or 16:9 widescreen, and support for a new control scheme or the old tank-style controls.

Techland has announced that development has ceased on the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Dying Light. The studio released an open letter to the community, posted below, regarding their decision. And a single-sentence summary for those pinched for time: “Put simply, older consoles just couldn’t run the game and stay true to the core vision of Dying Light at the same time.”
