Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Sucker Punch Productions
Infamous returns today with the release of the PS4-exclusive entry Second Son. Sucker Punch’s latest action title follows Delsin Rowe, a 24-year-old who has recently discovered that he can harness powerful abilities. Players must battle an increasingly despotic government around the city of Seattle, which features actual businesses and popular landmarks. The engine will also render rain, dynamic lighting, and progress through a day-and-night cycle. As in the previous titles, players will be able to choose between being good and evil, with each path offering unique missions, story sequences, and upgrades.
Infamous 2 will be getting a new single-player DLC pack later this year, Festival of Blood. Scheduled to launch on PSN in time for Halloween, the downloadable adventure will introduce vampires to New Marais. After being bitten, Cole has a single night to track down and kill the vampires’ leader.
Sly Cooper and inFamous creators Sucker Punch Productions has been snatched up by Sony. Known for their quality action-platforming work on the PlayStation 2 and 3, and with combined franchise sales exceeding seven million units, Sucker Punch makes the sixteenth acquisition by the media juggernaut.
Amidst all of the excitement of E3 comes news that Sucker Punch’s Infamous 2, sequel to one of the best games of 2009, is now available on store shelves. The follow-up sees powered-up everyman Cole MacGrath returning with new abilities and an evolved Karma system as he makes his way through New Marais with pal Zeke. The two must face a dangerous new enemy known as the Beast. The journey to the Beast won’t be easy as players must choose to go with their good side, embodied by Agent Lucy Kuo and ice powers, or their bad side, represented by Nix and fire-centric powers; each side offers a different experience and, depending on which paths are taken, one of several endings.
Cole’s battle with his inner demons will continue next week when Infamous 2 hits store shelves on June 7. Gamers itching to give the game a go a little earlier, though, can head over to the PS Store and grab the recently launched demo. The demo includes both story missions and side quests, as well as a chance to try out some of the new powers and parkour moves.
