Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Street Fighter x Tekken
The first of two crossover fighters from Capcom and Namco Bandai is ready to deliver some fist-to-the-gut action with the release of Street Fighter X Tekken for the 360 and PS3. The brawler features 38 characters from both franchises, and is based on a refined and expanded version of the Street Fighter IV fighting engine. A new Gem system has been introduced, allowing players to customize their fighters, as well as the on and offline four-player free-for-all Scramble Mode. Capcom also noted that all future upgrades will be available via DLC and that this “will be the only disc-based version consumers will need to own.”
Street Fighter X Tekken’s console release is quickly approaching, and with but a few weeks to go until 360 and PS3 gamers bash it out, Capcom has finally revealed the final four fighters as well as the PC release date. The Street Fighter roster is now two bosses stronger with the addition of Akuma and M. Bison, while Jin and Ogre join the Tekken side. With these last four, the game’s total combatant count clocks in at 38.
For far too long Pac-Man has been confined to the realms of an abyss-like maze, haunted by determined foes and given only the briefest of reprieves when delicious fruits give him the power to wreck vengeance on his tormentors. It is time for the beast to be unleashed. And unleashed it shall be in the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the upcoming crossover fighter Street Fighter X Tekken. Capcom and Namco Bandai have announced that each has thrown a new fighter into the brawling lot, with Capcom sending forth the blue bomber himself, Mega Man, and Namco the ever-smiling, ever-deadly Pac-Man.
The buildup to Capcom’s Street Fighter X Tekken continues today with a new batch of media, as well as the unveiling of six new combatants. The latest additions to the roster are split evenly between Street Fighter (Balrog, Juri, and Vega) and Tekken (Paul, Law, and Xiaoyu), striking a healthy balance.
Today’s been quite the day for Capcom’s upcoming crossover fighter Street Fighter X Tekken. Producer Yoshinori Ono revealed all sorts of tidbits at the New York Comic-Con, including the March 6 release date, news that a PC version has entered development, as well as info about the Special Edition and new Gem System. Capcom also released several new media items, including teasers and screenshots.
The Comic-Con announcements continue with Capcom revealing four new fighters for their upcoming crossover Street Fighter x Tekken. Joining the cast are Street Fighter’s Dhalsim, Steve, and Poison (also of Final Fight fame) as well as Tekken’s Yoshimitsu.
The freshly minted PlayStation Vita will be getting some of Capcom’s upcoming cross-franchise action with Street Fighter X Tekken. It was also announced that Cole MacGrath from Infamous will be a playable character in both the PS3 and Vita versions. Cole will join a lengthy roster of both Street Fighter and Tekken characters as they battle it out in a Street Fighter IV system adapted to suit both franchises as well as the tag team battle format. The Yoshinori Ono-produced brawler is scheduled to hit the PS3 in 2012; no release date was given for the portable version.
