Chilled Mouse brings Warhammer Quest to PC, now on Steam

Chilled Mouse has released Warhammer Quest for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. The turn-based strategy game is based on Games Workshop’s board game, which pits a team of heroes against hordes of enemies scattered throughout the dungeons that dot the border of the Empire. Players can control and level up the Marauder, Wood Elf Waywatcher, Dwarf IronBreaker, and Grey Wizard as they battle Orcs, Night Goblins, River Trolls, and Skaven. Two versions are available, a $14.99 standard edition and a $27 expanded edition.

New Total War: Attila spotlights revamped army management

Creative Assembly has revealed Total War: Attila’s revamped army management systems in a new video. Several new and updated mechanics are featured, including army integrity, decimation, and the family tree. Apparel, companions, items, and skills are also covered. Many of the changes are geared towards increased specialization, with players now able to more easily develop more defensive- or offensive-oriented field armies.

Disgaea will be making a return in 2015 with a new entry for PS4, Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance. The new story follows the rebel leader Killia, a young demon who is at war with the Overlord Void Dark to stop his enslavement of the Netherworlds. Additions include new areas of the Netherworlds to explore, the stat-boosting Revenge Mode, and Alliance Attacks with those characters who the players has formed strong bonds.

Shields up! Total War: Rome II – Wrath of Sparta DLC now on Steam

War has erupted across the Mediterranean and Aegean in the new downloadable campaign for Total War: Rome II, Wrath of Sparta. In the $14.99 expansion, players will be able to lead Athens, Corinth, Sparta, or the Boeotian League during the nearly three-decade-long Peloponnesian War. Each faction has their own unique units, while a Hellenic focus influences a new technology tree with mathematics and philosophy as well as the various events, which center on the regions’ athletic competitions and festivals.

A new updated version of Heroes of Might & Magic III has been announced for Android and iOS tablets as well as for PC. Scheduled to launch on January 29, Heroes of Might & Magic III – HD Edition will feature wide-screen support, seven campaigns, 48 skirmish maps, local multiplayer, a new online multiplayer Steam lobby, and a PC-exclusive map editor. HD Edition is currently being developed by DotEmu.

PlayStation Experience 2014 Highlights – Suikoden II, Street Fighter V

Some big news came out today from Sony’s PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas. The biggest of which is arguably the reveal and announcement of console exclusivity of Street Fighter V. Sony and Capcom have partnered up to release it for PS4, and to make it cross-platform compatible with PC. To keep gamers occupied until then, Capcom is also releasing Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4. Another surprise came out of Konami, who announced that the highly acclaimed Suikoden I and II will be available on PSN for PS3 and PS Vita next week, on December 9. Sega wasn’t to be outdone, however, with the reveal that Yakuza 5 will be a downloadable release for PS3 in 2015, nor Atlus, who gave Persona fans more to look forward to in 2015 the news that Persona 5 will be available for PS3 and PS4.

Eugen Systems reveals Act of Aggression factions, concept art

Eugen has released new details about their upcoming real-time strategy title Act of Aggression. The Wargame creator detailed the game’s three playable factions: the high-tech, stealth-focused Cartel; the veteran US Army, who are limited to current technology but can level up in specific roles; and the Chimera, a UNO-funded force that can either specialize in specific roles or be reasonably skilled in all. The studio said it is designing Acts of Aggression to be more accessible than the Wargame series. In addition to more traditional RTS elements, such as resource harvesting and base building, the game will also emphasize maintaining supply lines, holding key locations for extra resources and gathering prisoners, and developing super weapons.

Total War: Rome II – Wrath of Sparta to add Peloponnesian War

The nearly three-decade-long Peloponnesian War is making its way into Total War: Rome II later this month in Wrath of Sparta. The downloadable campaign will go live on December 16 and cover the earliest period of any Total War title to date over a 78-region map that focuses on Greece, the Greek islands, and the Ionian coast. Players will have access to new tech trees, land- and sea-based units, wonders, and heroes as they wage war as Athens, Boeotian League, Corinth, or Sparta.

The Sassanids appear in new trailer for Total War: Attila

A new trailer for Total War: Attila highlights Rome’s formidable Eastern foe, the Sassanid Empire. New features were also revealed. To highlight the other dangers of the times, players will have to contend with mutinous generals who can convince worried characters to mutiny, triggering a civil war, and limited supplies. A new mechanic, decimation, will help to bring some relief as the harsh punishment temporarily stamps out resistance in the ranks.
