NIS reveals new tactical-RPG for PS4, PS Vita, God Wars Future Past

NIS is once again teaming up with Natural Doctrine developer Kadokawa Games. This time, the duo will be bringing a new tactical role-playing game to PS4 and PS Vita, God Wars Future Past. Scheduled to launch early next year, digitally and physically, their latest will follow a skewed version of Japanese history told through traditional origin stories. Fuji, Izumo, and Hyuga vie for control of the country, known then as Mizuho, as the once-imprisoned Princess Kaguya escapes her sacrificial fate to learn the truth about her past. During her quest, players will gain access to 14 customizable characters, over 30 classes, and 400-plus skills.

Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander available for PC, launch trailer up

The Kickstarter-backed hybrid strategy and role-playing game Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander has launched for PC. Developer Massive Damage’s latest is said to offer a “a unique blend of base building, exploration, and a deep tactical JRPG style combat system.” As a commander of the New Terran Federation, players take control of an ancient alien starbase in an effort to defeat the invading Chruul.

Endless Space 2 set to hit Steam Early Access next month

Amplitude will be bringing their latest 4X strategy titles, Endless Space 2, to Steam Early Access next month. The studio also revealed a new faction trailer with the Lumeris being the latest to join the galactic roster. The Lumeris are an amphibious people that have, as with some lovable big-earned aliens from another franchise, developed a society that focuses on trade and acquisition. A handful of families manage the various elements of their economy, with a balance kept to ensure that no single family gains too much power. The Lumeris are one of eight planned factions, four of which will be available in the Early Access version.

Disgaea 2 PC launching January for OS X, Steam OS, Windows PC

NIS is set to expand their PC footprint next year with Disgaea 2 PC. The port is being described as the definitive version and will include content from both the PS2 version, Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, and the later, expanded PSP version, Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days. Additionally, three characters previously exclusive to the Japanese version of Cursed Memories will make their North American debut: Dark Eclair, Gig, and Miabel. And as a bonus for those who own Disgaea PC, four characters from the sequel—Adell, Rozalin, Zetta, and Pleinair—have been added today in a new patch.

Slitherine has released a new campaign set during the Second War for Armageddon. Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon – Da Orks tackles the war from the perspective of the Orks in a standalone three-act campaign. The game features a revamped interface as well as a new tutorial and skirmish mode. The tutorial is a mini-story in itself that follows the battles of the warlord Ghazghkull Thraka. Players can also utilize cross-platform play via PBEM.

Arcade-style strategy shooter Inversus launches for PC, PS4

Inversus, the latest action title from Hypersect designer and programmer Ryan Juckett, is now available on PSN, Humble Store, and Steam. The competitive arcade-style title mixes strategy with shooting, as players fire bullets to open and close paths in an attempt to block and trap their opponent. Up to four players are supported, locally or online, in one-versus-one and two-versus-two modes over 30-plus maps. PSN and Steam are both running a launch-week discount, knocking 10% off, with the former for PS Plus subscribers.

343 Industries releases letter on development plans for Halo Wars 2

343 Industries held an open beta this past June for their upcoming real-time strategy title Halo Wars 2. Today, the studio released a letter detailing what was learned from the feedback sent in during and after the period, and their plans on how they will address several of the reoccurring issues. NIS has begun the struggle for Resonail with the digital release of Grand Kingdom. As a mercenary captain, players will lead a squad of soldiers as they navigate four factions that are battling for control of the realm. As a bonus, everyone who buys the tactical role-playing game before July 21 will receive the Lord’s Set DLC bundle as a free download. Collectors take note that the physical edition will launch on June 28.
