Strategy role-playing game God Wars Future Past out for PS4, PS Vita

NIS is letting players battle alongside the gods today with the release of God Wars Future Past. The strategy-heavy role-playing game puts players in the shoes of an escaped sacrifice, Princess Kaguya, who must fight her way through the lands of Mizuho. The story is steeped in Japanese mythology, and will introduce players to gods from Japan’s pantheon. Three free downloadable items were also detailed, with the debut release being Kaguya’s Equipment Set, which will add the God Bow, God Hood, and God Robe on June 20. Following the next week, on June 27, is Additional Scenario 1 with an extra story battle that becomes accessible after finishing the main story. Lastly is Additional Scenario 2, on July 5, which will add another post-campaign story battle that ties into the aftermath of Additional Scenario 1.

Valkyria Revolution video highlights composer Yasunori Mitsuda

A new video out of Sega features composer Yasunori Mitsuda discussing the soundtrack for Valkyria Revolution. Said to be inspired by Europe’s industrial revolution, Mitsuda had the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra conduct a live concert-hall recording to capture the mood of the era. The group is joined by the Australian-Japanese singer Sarah Alainn. Sega also revealed a digital pre-order bonus that includes two scenarios (The Formation of Vanargand and The Ring of Contract), 30 ragnite shards, and a set of special combat ragnite (Time Flux+, Heal Field+, Fall Earth+, and Shine Calibur+). Additionally, PS4 owners will receive an extra digital pre-order bonus, The Princess and the Valkyria theme.

Lock’s Quest returns, now available for console, PC

Digital Continue’s updated Lock’s Quest has launched for console and PC. The tower-defense-style game was originally developed by 5th Cell for Nintendo DS, and has been updated with several new modes and improvements. Some of the changes include remastered music with an orchestrated intro and ending, a progression system with plot-specific turret unlocks, a revamped AI and interface, and a new Antonia Defense Battles Endless Mode. The story remains the same, however, with players managing the defense systems of a village during a 75-day-long war.

To the stars! Endless Space 2 now available for PC

Amplitude Studios’ space-based 4X strategy title Endless Space 2 has been released digitally for Mac and Windows PC. The sequel features eight civilizations for players to lead against a new AI in single player or against others in multiplayer. Newcomers as well as veterans will find a host of tutorials to get them up to speed, and to ensure that everyone eventually gets access to the planet-destroying end-game superweapon. Supported Steam features include achievements, cloud saving, and Workshop for mods.

Amplitude continues their 4X video series for Endless Space 2 with the third entry, focusing on exploitation. This element sits on the administrative side. Players must maintain their population’s happiness, productivity, and stability while holding onto power. If they push too hard, or pass too many unpopular laws, the people might rise up, causing the society to descend into anarchy. But if they are too lax, the faction will fall behind technologically and economically.

Endless Space 2 video series moves into week two with eXpansion

Amplitude has released the second in their 4X video series. After covering exploration last week, today, the studio is tackling the expansion elements found in Endless Space 2. The video follows the factions as they grow from small, struggling colonies to galactic empires. After finding habitable worlds, players must send out ships to colonize their new holdings, establish economic links to make them profitable, and secure them with warships. Of course, our description isn’t quite the same as seeing it in action.

Halo Wars 2 adds a new Banished Leader, Colony, in latest DLC

Halo Wars 2 received its second downloadable pack, Colony. Colony is a Hunter pair that functions as a single Leader, and can be selected in every multiplayer mode. The creatures command the Banished Lekgolo on the Ark, which allows them to create and expand clusters that can control and repair vehicles. This allows Colony to tromp around the battlefield with a horde of Lekgolo-driven constructs that can be improved and healed, and if needed, reinforced with Colony Drop and Devastating Host. Friendly vehicles can also be commandeered using Vehicle Symbiotes, while nearby allies are healed with the passive ability Combat Repair.
