Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun has made its way to console with an optimized release for PS4 and Xbox One. Set during Japan’s Edo period, the real-time strategy title is described as “a hardcore tactical stealth game” where players take charge of five specialist characters to lead through a series of missions. To get a better look at the game, Kalypso and Daedalic have released both a new gameplay trailer as well as a demo for both systems.

Halo Wars 2 – Serina, Operation: Spearbreaker out for PC, Xbox One

Halo Wars 2 received two new downloadable drops today, Serina and Operation: Spearbreaker. The first pack features Serina, the UNSC Spirit of Fire’s AI from the original Halo Wars, while the second expands the campaign with two additional missions. Serina returns in full form, despite her unfortunate fate, while the story missions expand on the main game’s plot, as players take charge of a hero squad of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers against the Banished.

Tactical-RPG Solstice Chronicles: MIA launches for Windows PC

Solstice Chronicles: MIA, follow-up to The Red Solstice, has gone live on Steam. Available for the discounted price of $19.99, the spiritual successor finds humans living on Mars, after having fled from a disease running rampant on Earth, facing a fresh outbreak in the colonies. The Corporation and insurgents are now fighting to find a cure and return home. The tactical-RPG is also one of the first games to have been funded through crowdfunding platform Fig.co, courtesy of 500-plus backers and investors.

Halo 5 to get 4K update, 360 series to be backwards compatible

Microsoft is set to kick off the Halo Summer Celebration. In the upcoming months, the studio is set to revisit several of the older titles in the line. First up is word that four titles will be added to Xbox One’s backwards compatibility library later this year: Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4, and Halo: CE Anniversary. Each game will support the campaign, multiplayer, and LAN play on Xbox One and between One and 360. As a bonus, every 360 add-on map pack will be free in Xbox Store. Later this year, Halo 5: Guardians will receive an update to support 4K alongside the release of Xbox One X. Halo Wars 2 is also set to get a new premium expansion this fall, Awakening the Nightmare. The add-on will feature a campaign focusing on The Banished, along with the return of the Flood and a new multiplayer mode, Terminus Firefight. Lastly, 343 will also be in attendance at several upcoming events, including RTX Austin 2017, HCS Summer Finals at DreamHack Atlanta, ChinaJoy and gamescom.

Halo Wars 2 adds Jerome-092, Ripa heroes in Icons of War DLC

Halo Wars 2 has received a new downloadable double pack, Icons of War. The drop adds two new characters, Commander Jerome-092, the leader of Red Team aboard the UNSC Spirit of Fire, and Arbiter Ripa ‘Moramee. Jerome-092 has the ability to inspire nearby troops, conduct a Field Promotion, and deploy the Spartans of Omega Team. Unable to hijack vehicles, he can summon Command Mantis onto the field with Mech Drop. Ripa can heal nearby units while increasing their speed and damage with the Conduit of Rage ability, and trigger Arbiter’s Rage to increase his own stats.

Valkyria Revolution gets new video, freebies, and DLC schedule

Another music-centric video has been released for Valkyria Revolution. The previous footage featured composer Mitsuda-san, while the latest finds him joined by vocalist Sarah Alainn. The two play and discuss the track “Eternal Rest.” Additionally, a free theme for PS4 and PS Vita has gone live, as has a massive list of upcoming downloadable content. Endless Space 2 update improves AI, adds heroes, planets, quests

Amplitude Studios has released a new update for Endless Space 2, Stellar Prisoner. The 4X grand strategy’s free download adds the Neutron Star battle arena, providing perks to those who hold the node, along with an associated quest involving a strange prisoner trapped within. Also included are new heroes, one Endless Virtual hero and a Cravers Prime hero, two unique planets, and improvements to the modding system for editing textures as well as story and hero visuals. The base game is also being improved with “numerous general performance and AI improvements.” The studio will be showcasing the update today at 10 a.m. (CST) on their Twitch channel.

Strategy role-playing game God Wars Future Past out for PS4, PS Vita

NIS is letting players battle alongside the gods today with the release of God Wars Future Past. The strategy-heavy role-playing game puts players in the shoes of an escaped sacrifice, Princess Kaguya, who must fight her way through the lands of Mizuho. The story is steeped in Japanese mythology, and will introduce players to gods from Japan’s pantheon. Three free downloadable items were also detailed, with the debut release being Kaguya’s Equipment Set, which will add the God Bow, God Hood, and God Robe on June 20. Following the next week, on June 27, is Additional Scenario 1 with an extra story battle that becomes accessible after finishing the main story. Lastly is Additional Scenario 2, on July 5, which will add another post-campaign story battle that ties into the aftermath of Additional Scenario 1.
