Survival Mode released for Banner Saga 2, included in Complete Pack

The console version of Banner Saga 2 received a new addition today: Survival Mode. Stoic has thrown down the gauntlet, challenging players with surviving 40 battles in a row. The add-on runs $4.99, while newcomers to the series can get it as part of the $37.99 Complete Pack, which also includes the first two games.

Tactical-RPG God Wars Future Past delayed until late June

NIS is delaying the release of their upcoming tactical role-playing game God Wars Future Past. The PS4, PS Vita launch date is being pushed back from March 28 to June 20. The announcement noted that the extra time will provide for “additional development and in-game balancing to ensure the best possible experience for gamers.”

Halo Wars 2 demo released for Xbox One, PC demo coming soon

Microsoft has released a demo for the recently launched Halo Wars 2. Gamers can currently download it for Xbox One, while the PC version should be along shortly. The trial includes the first mission, The Signal, along with access to Blitz Firefight against an AI opponent. The latter comes with a pre-built deck of cards from Captain Cutter or Atriox. The Xbox One version requires a Live Gold account.

The fight continues, Halo Wars 2 out for PC, Xbox One

Players are returning to the battlefield today twenty-eight years after the original Halo Wars. The real-time strategy game will find a crew awakening from cryosleep to answer a distress call that leads to a new round of warfare. Virtual commanders will find a single-player campaign as well as multiplayer that sports several modes, including Deathmatch and Stronghold. 343 Industries’ head of strategy games, Dan Ayoub, has released a final letter to thank fans and to give several others at the studio a chance to share their thoughts at launch. Halo Wars 2: Ultimate Edition launches through early access

Gamers who purchased the Ultimate Edition of Halo Wars 2 can now play it via early access. The 343 Industries and Creative Assembly co-developed real-time strategy game follows the events of the original Halo Wars. Set 28 years later, players awake from cryosleep to answer a distress call that kicks off a new battle. As an Xbox Play Anywhere title, gamers can play the game on PC and Xbox One, as well as a swap data between the two, with a single digital purchase. Spartans to the front! Halo Wars 2 launch trailer posted

343 Industries has released the launch trailer for Halo Wars 2. The video was created by Blur, known for their ace cinematics. The sequel finds humanity struggling to recover after their victory in the first Halo Wars 28 years earlier. Captain Cutter and the crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire wake up from cryosleep to find themselves orbiting a Forerunner artifact. The crew soon sets off to answer a distress call and engage in a new single-player campaign. In addition, the game will come with several multiplayer modes, including Deathmatch, Domination, and Strongholds.

Banner Saga 3 surpasses Kickstarter goal, nearing first stretch reward

Stoic has announced that they have reached their initial Kickstarter goal for Banner Saga 3. In just under a week, the studio has raised over $200,000, and is now moving on towards the first of its stretch goals. The first goal is set at $250,000, which will add playable Dredge. The third entry marks the end of the journey, as players head “beyond the wall of Darkness to traverse a world unlike anything encountered in previous sagas.” Players will once again engage in tactical combat and make decisions that have lasting consequences as they lead a band of Vikings.

Halo Wars 2 livestream launch event announced for February 17

Microsoft has sent word about a recent announcement regarding an upcoming livestream launch event for Halo Wars 2. The game is scheduled to launch on February 21, but as Ultimate Edition owners will be able to play it on February 17, the event is set to kick off on February 16 at 6 p.m. (CST). Players can watch it on Facebook Live, Twitch, Xbox One, or Youtube. There will also be interviews with some of the development team and a few giveaways. The full notice can be found below.

Disgaea 2 PC hits Steam for Mac, SteamOS, and Windows PC

NIS’ tactical role-playing game Disgaea 2 PC has launched on Steam. The computer version features all of the content from the original PS2 release, Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories, and the later enhanced PSP re-release, Dark Hero Days. In the campaign, players take on the role of Adell, a young man unaffected by a curse that’s turning Veldime into a Netherworld, wiping its citizens’ memories and transforming them into demons. In addition to the story, there is a mode to play as a has-been rockstar, Axel, a Stack Attack for deadlier attacks, an Item World to customize kit, and a Dark Court that punishes the good. The PC version features updated controls and three playable characters new to the West: Dark Eclair, Gig, and Miabel.
