Square Enix and Airtight Games’s otherworldly police procedural title Murdered: Soul Suspect will be making its way to PS4 and Xbox One. According to the publisher, the new versions will feature native 1080p output and improved effects, such as subsurface scattering and an increased particle count. Soul Suspect was announced early last year for 360, PC, and PS3.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn PS4 beta, release dates revealed

Square Enix has released some new details regarding the PS4 version of their MMO Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. First off, the game will be available in stores on April 14, the same day when “official service” begins. For those looking to preorder, beginning today, money can be put down on a Standard Edition or a Collector’s Edition, which will also include two in-game items (a Mog Cap and a Cait Sith Doll minion) and Early Access on April 11. The Collector’s Edition will be packed with an art book, a music CD, art cards, a themed security token, and a few exclusive in-game items. Additionally, existing players who have registered FFXIV Collector’s Edition, FFXIV: A Realm Reborn Collector’s Edition, or digitally upgraded will receive two new in-game items (Fat Chocobo Mount and Wind-up Moogle minion).

Square Enix Collective pilot goes live, three candidates up for vote

Square Enix is getting more involved in the community-driven development scene with a new pilot program, Square Enix Collective. Similar to Steam Early Access, players will vote on which game interests them most, but unlike Early Access, gamers are voting on concepts. Winners will be put up on Indiegogo for funding, with funded titles being supported by Square Enix throughout development and assistance with distribution on digital outlets at release. According to Collective project lead Phil Elliott, “It’s up to the teams how much or little help they want from Square Enix and it’s our opportunity to help some fantastic games become a reality and uncover the development stars of the future.”

Lara gets even in new Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition launch trailer

Last year’s Tomb Raider reboot is getting a next-gen makeover soon with the upcoming release of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for PS3 and Xbox One. To kick things off, Square Enix has posted a new launch trailer to demonstrate the action in store. In addition to the enhanced graphics, which will feature new effects, additional polygons, Tress FX technology for realistic hair, new textures, and new rendering techniques, the game will also include all available downloadable content plus developer videos, a digital art book, and a digital copy of the Dark Horse comic.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII demo, pre-order bonus go live

Lightning returns today, literally. Square Enix has announced that the first playable demo for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will launch later today for PS3 and is available now for 360 Live Gold members. Live Silver members will have to wait until January 28. The demo features a battle-heavy trip through the Yusnaa palace alongside Snow. For players that activate the Outworld feature and submit their score for the final fight against Zaltys, the Siegfried outfit will be unlocked in the full version. As an extra bonus, the PSN version will include the Utsusemi Garb DLC in the demo and full version, which includes the Heavenly Fan weapon and the Kaminari shield.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix Jump Festa trailer, screens released

A new trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix has been made available from Square Enix. Released during the Jump Festa in Japan, the trailer continues the story after the end of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix showing a variety of characters, including Sora, Riku, and Hercules, in the updated engine. A dozen new screenshots have also been posted.

Drakengard 3 breaks out dragon combat in new screenshots, trailer

Square Enix has released over a dozen new screenshots and an announcement trailer for Drakengard 3. The prequel to Drakengard, which is itself a predecessor to the fantastic Nier, is available today in Japan and will be released next year in North America. Square Enix announced a Collector’s Edition release for their upcoming set Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. The PS3 will receive the CE along with the standard edition when it is released on March 18, but it will only be available through the Square Enix Online Store. The $79.99 package will include a 40-page hardcover artbook, five lithographs, and a soundtrack on Blu-ray with over six hours of music. Some new screens were released alongside shots of the CE.

New Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII making-of video released

Square Enix has released a new behind-the-scenes feature for Lighting Returns. The latest entry, titled “Inside the Square – The Making of Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII”, was filmed at the studio’s headquarters in Tokyo and is narrated by Lightning’s voice across Ali Hillis. The video, clocking in at nearly six and a half minutes long, looks at the work of being done by character designer Tetsuya Nomura and the trials faced by the composers who were tasked with putting together the new score.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster launching next March for PS3

Square Enix has announced that the PS3 version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be available on March 18. Coinciding with the announcement is news that the official box art and limited edition set have been redesigned, and both have been posted below. In addition to Final Fantasy X: Eternal Calm and Final Fantasy X-2: Last Mission being added to the package, which were previously only available in the International versions, a Concept Art Book will also be added to those who pre-order in time for the free bump from the standard version to the limited edition.
