Final Fantasy XIII-2 launches on Steam, SE Online store for PC

Square Enix has released the PC version of Final Fantasy XIII-2. Available for $19.99 on Steam and the Square Enix Online Store, the PC version features support for 60 frames-per-second, Japanese voiceovers with English subtitles, and several resolutions (also added today in Final Fantasy XIII). The downloadable content from the console versions, including new enemies, missions, and outfits, detailed below, are also included. Some content from the console versions are missing, though, such as the Lost Report side story episode and any collaborative pieces with other series (e.g., Assassin’s Creed and Mass Effect).

Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster heading to PS4

Square Enix announced during last weekend’s PlayStation Experience that they will be bringing over the updated PC version of Final Fantasy VII to PS4. At another conference today in Shanghai, PlayStation China, the studio revealed that they will also be porting over Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. The latter is said to include unspecified system-exclusive features. Both titles will be available this spring, with Final Fantasy VII as a $15.99 download and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster as a $49.99 download or retail boxed copy.

Lara Croft returns today in a new isometric adventure for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. The sequel to Guardian of Light follows in its predecessor’s footsteps with more traps to avoid, puzzles to solve, and twin-stick shooting, arcade-style combat. Now with support for up to four players, the game follows Lara and three allies as she searches for powerful artifacts and battles Set’s army of monsters alongside treasure hunter Carter Bell and gods Horus and Isis.

Just Cause 3 coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2015

Avalanche Studios’ Just Cause is set to return next year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One in Just Cause 3. As with its predecessors, players will be able to explore a large open-world environment as they wreak havoc on anything and everything. The only details released include the return of the grapple and parachute, the introduction of the new wingsuit, and the setting of a Mediterranean archipelago. Details for accessing the upcoming Las Vegas Fan Festival 2014 Live Stream have been released by Square Enix. Two packages are on offer, with a free version streaming in standard definition and showing most events, except for the opening keynote and closing ceremonies. For $20, viewers get to see the opening keynote on what the studio has in store for the game by producer and director Naoki Yoshida, closing ceremonies, and extra bonuses. Square Enix released two new batches of screenshots today from Final Fantasy XV and Type-0 HD. First up is FFXV, and more specifically, the upcoming downloadable demo, Final Fantasy XV –Episode Duscae–. Duscae, which will feature the opening section of FFXV but with altered story elements, will be accessible via a download voucher that will be included with Type-0 for both PS4 and Xbox One. The shots show some combat against goblins, a few of the character close-ups, and a herd of giant Garula. The release also noted that all pictures were taken from in-game footage.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD dated for March, to include FFXV demo

Square Enix announced at the Tokyo Game Show that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be arriving on digital outlets and store shelves on March 17. The new adventure, set on the world of Orience, is said to offer “a gritty worldview and an action-packed battled system.” It was also revealed that access to a demo of Final Fantasy XV, titled Final Fantasy XV -Episode Duscae-, will be included. The demo, in the form of a download unlocked via voucher, will be unique in that it will include the same opening section as the final game but feature an alternative story progression. New trailers for both have been posted, and some new screens from Type-0 HD.

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is once again summoning players to the battlefield with the melodic tunes of high adventure with Curtain Call. The 3DS exclusive follows up the 2012 original with 221 songs, 60-plus playable characters, the new Versus Mode, and the customizable Quest Medley, which allows players to choose their own party. Songs included are taken from across the franchise’s 26-year history, with Lightning Returns, Type-0, Tactics, and Advent Children being a handful of the titles represented. A list of newly launched and upcoming DLC is also provided below.

Final Mix trailer highlights Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix additions

A new trailer has launched for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix. Titled the Final Mix, the video runs nearly three minutes and covers the additions and extras that will be included with the re-release, namely the new bosses and enemies, cutscenes, playable episodes, challenges, and some of the 40-plus additional items. It’s a bit of everything, and with some gameplay to boot.
