Final Fantasy XV gets Magitek Exosuits, new quest in July update

The latest free monthly download has gone live for Final Fantasy XV. The July update adds Magitek Exosuits for Noctis and friends, granting 30 minutes of invincibility per day, along with a new quest (O Partner, My Partner) set after Chapter 8. Additionally, the crew can now engage the Cross Chain collaboration system to damage defensive-minded enemies by using linked attacks. Moogle Chocobo Carnival has also returned, allowing players to take part in mini-games, including Chocobo water races, and pick up special Moogle Chocobo menu items at the Square Enix Cafe until late September. Accessing the carnival requires owning the free FFXV Holiday Pack or for-pay FFXV Holiday Pack +. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age coming stateside

Square Enix has revealed that they will be bringing Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age to North America next year. The game is said to “offer a world of adventure, exploration and instances of heroism” that is “brought to life by the character art of famed manga artist Akira Toriyama and the memorable music of composer Koichi Sugiyama.” A video featuring series creator Yuji Horii, posted below, offers a plushie-slime-filled announcement.

Tokyo RPG Factory’s Lost Sphear launching January for NS, PC, PS4

Tokyo RPG Factory’s next release, Lost Sphear, has been officially dated for January 23. The upcoming role-playing game is set to be released for NS, PC, and PS4, with the NS and PS4 to receive physical versions exclusively through Square Enix Online Store. Gamers who pre-order the physical version will receive two music tracks at release, while digital pre-orders will receive extras for PC (two music tracks, custom wallpaper) and PS4 (two music tracks, Memoirs of the Moon system theme).

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age launches in stores, online for PS4

Role-playing fans can revisit Ivalice today with the release of Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age for PS4. The PS2 entry, originally released in 2006, has been updated with high-definition graphics, an improved soundtrack, and a modified combat system. In addition to the gambit system, combat now features the new Zodiac Job System, which is said to overhaul the License Board System while allowing characters to develop two of 12 jobs. General improvements include a new speed mode, auto-save functionality, and shorter loading times. The story, however, remains the same, with players following the princess Ashe and thief Vaan in their quest to liberate the kingdom of Dalmasca.

Final Fantasy XV gets gunplay heavy with Episode Prompto DLC

Final Fantasy XV has received a new drop today, Episode Prompto. The character-specific add-on introduces a new storyline from the perspective of photographer Prompto Argentum. Lost in the wilderness, he must fight his way through Imperial forces as he makes his way home. Along the way, he’ll come across a new snowmobile and find himself joined by Commodore Aranea Highwind. A free update has also gone live that includes “various fixes,” new themed tracks in the Regalia, and also allows players to upgrade the Regalia to the off-road Type-D model at Hammerhead.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT coming to North America early ’18 for PS4

Square Enix is getting back into the brawler business with Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. The follow-up to 2011’s Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy is actually a reboot of the series, however, rather than of a direct continuation. The team-based fighter was co-developed by Koei Tecmo Games and Team Ninja, and is set to make its home debut early next year. The game will feature solo and online multiplayer, a roster of over 20 characters, and three-versus-three combat. Fans of the series can learn more by streaming a panel with producer Ichiro Hazama, director Takeo Kujiraoka, Justin Wong of Echo Fox, and K-Brad at the E3 Coliseum on Tuesday, June 13, at 3:15 p.m. (PST).

May update adds community photos, recipe to Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix has released the May update for Final Fantasy XV. The free download adds a recipe that was voted on by players from Taiwan, Stinky Tofu, and winning community photos that can be found in the Hammerhead restaurant. The team also added an in-game survey to get feedback on future updates and downloadable packs. Looking ahead, beginning next Tuesday, players can grab the freebie Trendy Outfit for Noctis off Live and PSN.

Star Ocean: Till the End of Time returns to PlayStation, now on PSN

It’s time to take a trip back to 2004 today with the release of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for PS4. The PS2 role-playing game has been updated with support for trophies, share functionality, and remote play. Players once again guide Fayt in his search for his family and childhood friend Sophia after being separated during a military invasion while on vacation. Star Ocean: Till the End of Time headed to PSN on May 23 for PS4

Star Ocean will be taking a trip to the past for the next installment, a re-release of Till the End of Time. The 2002 PlayStation 2 entry is receiving a sprucing up with support for trophies, share functionality, and remote play. Till the End of Time follows childhood friends Fayt Leingod and Sophia Esteed “as they discover the greatest secret in the Star Ocean universe.”

Dragon Quest Heroes II receives first of five free content updates

Square Enix has released a free content update for Dragon Quest Heroes II. This marks the first of five updates that will add extended character-specific sidequests, Slime weapons, and extra multiplayer content. Today’s patch adds two sidequests, Episode Torneko and Episode Maribel & Ruff. The remaining updates and their content can be found listed below, along with a few new screenshots.
