Final Fantasy IV: The After Years will be hitting Steam on May 12, according to Square Enix. The After Years is a direct sequel to Final Fantasy IV, set almost 20 years later and spanning ten chapters, but wasn’t available in English until 2011. The PC version is based on the mobile phone release that went live in Japan in 2008, which came out stateside for PlayStation Portable. The Steam version will include achievements, trading cards, and updated visuals.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD ships a million, FFXV feedback in focus

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD has shipped over a million units, according to Square Enix. The studio also announced that they will be hosting a player feedback special about Final Fantasy XV on an upcoming Active Time Report with director Hajime Tabata based on community feedback from Episode Duscae. Scheduled to begin on 1 p.m. (CST) April 27, the new episode will discuss the type of comments received and the development team’s plans on how they will address concerns and suggestions. Feedback can still be submitted here, until May 19.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided announced for console and PC, trailer up

Square Enix has revealed Eidos Montreal’s follow-up to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. The sequel is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One and will take place two years after the events in Human Revolution, with humanity split between those with and those without augments. Players will once again take on the role of Adam Jensen, who is now an anti-terrorist agent with even more powerful augments, as he tries to navigate and uncover the mysterious forces who are attempting to manipulate the divided public.

Final Fantasy Type-0 has made the leap from PlayStation Portable to next-gen today. Final Fantasy Type-0 HD features support for remote play with PS Vita, enhanced visuals, dual language options for voice overs and subtitles, and for Day One edition buyers, a download code for Final Fantasy XV –Episode Duscae-. For those non-importers out there, that being most of you, this action-heavy entry follows Class Zero, 14 cadets from the Dominion of Rubrum military academy, who are embattled against the invading Militesi Empire.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster heading to PS4 this May

Square Enix has announced that they will be bringing out last year’s Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster for PS4 on May 12. In addition to the two previously Japanese-only extras added to the original collection, the Final Fantasy X: Eternal Calm cinematic and Final Fantasy X-2: Last Mission playable mission, the game will also feature cross-save support with the PS3 and PS Vita versions, support for remote play, and the ability to switch between the original soundtrack and the remastered version. A physical pre-order bonus was also revealed, a calendar featuring artwork by Yoshitaka Amano.

Dragon Quest Heroes coming stateside for PS4, dated for 2015

In a surprise announcement, Square Enix has revealed that they will be bringing over Dragon Quest Heroes later this year. The Dynasty Warriors-style brawler is releasing this week in Japan and was co-developed by Omega Force and Koei Tecmo, who were recently involved in the development and publishing, respectively, of Hyrule Warriors. The action role-playing game will feature similar gameplay, with players facing hordes of enemies as they gain experience and new gear.

A new set of songs has been released for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call. Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Nier, and more provide new battle music and field music sequences, with a dozen in total added to the game’s library. Each track costs $0.99, and more are set to join the current slate of downloadable tunes on March 5.

Square Enix Collective offering Anachronox, Fear Effect, and Gex IPs

Square Enix is offering three Eidos IPs for independent developers to try their hand at through the studio’s Collective platform. Anachronox, Fear Effect, and Gex are all on offer for developers to submit game ideas, and new project pitch submissions have also been reopened. A previous submission, Goetia, a point-and-click adventure from French developer Sushee, recently passed its Kickstarter goal with 48 hours to go. According to the release, it was the latest campaign’s success that inspired them to open up the Eidos IPs.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD combat trailer, Episode Duscae clip released

Square Enix has released a translated video of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD from their recent Active Time Report presentation. The three-minute-long trailer starts with a bloody man begging for help and subsequently follows Class Zero as they argue about duty and battle a variety of monsters. The last minute is a clip from Final Fantasy XV – Episode Duscae – of Noctis and crew also battling enemies, as well as doing a bit of giggling. Episode Duscae will be available with the Day One Edition of Type-0 HD.
