Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Space Hulk
Space Hulk: Deathwing is heading towards consoles later this year, and to get things started, Streum On Studio has released the Special Missions Update for PC. Scheduled to launch this fall, the Enhanced Edition for PS4 and Xbox One will feature all of the new content and features that PC players will receive through free downloads. The first of those updates goes live today, adding Special Missions to multiplayer. These are available in Chapter 1 and are slated to be added to every chapter, offering randomly generated mission sequences and Genestealer spawns. Future updates will add new enemies, weapons, skills, multiplayer classes, and multiplayer progression system along with loot and class customization.
Space Hulk: Deathwing recently wrapped up its technical beta, allowing tens of thousands of players to try their hands at the game’s co-op mode, but its release is still a week away. To hold everyone over, developer Streum On has released a new gameplay video of the single-player campaign. The 13 minutes of footage follows the player as their Deathwing squad explores the the Space Hulk and battles Ymgarl Genestealers.
The Space Marines are nearly done prepping for their next mission and will be heading out on November 12 in Space Hulk: Ascension Edition. In addition to revealing the launch date, developer Full Control also released a new developer diary trailer focusing on level design and interface. Some of the new features for Ascension Edition include an RPG-like progression and customization system, new rules and mission structures, 103 missions covering three campaign chapters, and new Genestealer types.
The Space Hulk series will be returning as a first-person shooter with Streum On Studio’s Space Hulk: Deathwing. The E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy developer will be porting over the boardgame using the latest Unreal Engine with the assistance of Cyanide Studio. Deathwing will allow players to battle Genestealers inside of a Space Hulk as a Librarian from the Dark Angels, gaining new skills, abilities, and equipment as their Space Marine works their way through the craft’s myriad passages.
Full Control has announced some new pre-order bonuses for their upcoming Warhammer 40,000-based strategy title Space Hulk. The download-only release is set to launch on Steam next month, and gamers who pre-order ahead of time will receive two exclusive DLC items: a personal banner for multiplayer and a Genestealer skin for single player.
