Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Soulcalibur
Namco Bandai’s enduring weapon-based fighting series Soulcalibur is returning to Live Games on Demand and debuting on PS Store next week with its latest entry, Soulcalibur V. Set 17 years after its predecessor, the Project Soul-developed release features the series’ traditional 8-way run system, online play, and a roster of over two dozen characters including a special entrant courtesy of Ubisoft, Ezio Auditore from Assassin’s Creed.
Namco Bandai is looking to reignite gamers’ souls today with the release of Soulcalibur V for the 360 and PS3. Set 17 years after the events in SCIV, the latest follows Patroklos and Pyrrha Alexandra as they uncover their family’s history with the Soul swords. In addition to a guest appearance by Ezio Auditore de Firenze from Assassin’s Creed, SCV includes new gameplay features and a beefed-up character creation mode, with custom characters displayable in the new Global Colosseo online hub.
The original Soulcalibur is now available on the App Store for the iPad 2, iPhone 4/4S, and 4th-generation iPod touch. The iOS version includes the full 19-character roster, 8Way Run system, and three game modes (Arcade Battle, Survival, Time Attack) with three more slated to launch via future updates.
Soulcalibur will be returning later this month with Soulcalibur V for the 360 and PS3. Namco Bandai has announced that the latest entry in the long-running series has gone gold and is on schedule to hit store shelves on January 31. Developed by Project Soul, Soulcalibur V is set 17 years after the events in IV and features the journey of Patroklos, son of Sophitia Alexandra, as he uncovers his family’s history with the Soul swords. In addition to new modes and features, including the Brave Edge and Critical Edge systems, Ubisoft’s Ezio Auditore de Firenze from Assassin’s Creed will also make an appearance as a guest character.
