Sony Santa Monica is set to follow up their recently released 1.03 patch for God of War: Ascension, which adjusted the difficulty for the Trial of Archimedes and added tattoos for multiplayer. The upcoming 1.04 update will increase the level cap in multiplayer from 30 to 40, increase tracked stat types as well as allow access to them from the main menu, optimize matchmaking, fix the shard bug, tweak unlock requirements for gear, and fix the audio-drop bug. No release date was announced, but the noted items are said to be in the “final testing and tuning phase.”

All of you gods of war, take note, Sony is holding a Double XP Weekend event for the recently updated God of War: Ascension. From now until 10 a.m. on Monday, players will be to gain double experience in every mode, though it will not stack with any ongoing experience boost. The event coincides with the recent 1.03 update, detailed below, which lowers the difficulty for the Trial of Archimedes and adds tattoos for character customization in multiplayer.

Sorcery works its spell on retail, on store shelves for PS3

The PS Move-only Sorcery is now available for the PS3. Developed by The Workshop and Sony Santa Monica, Sorcery is a single-player adventure based around casting spells, brewing elixirs, and solving puzzles using the Move controller, PS Eye, and the navigation, dualshock, or sixaxis controller. As a young sorcerer’s apprentice, players must venture out into the wilds of the Kingdom of The Dead, Endless Stair, and more as they set out to stop the Nightmare queen from covering the land in darkness.

Starhawk drops in on store shelves for PlayStation 3

Lightbox Interactive and Sony Santa Monica’s sci-fi third-person shooter Starhawk has hit store shelves for the PS3. Set in the frontiers of space, players take part in a single-player campaign takes them through “diverse interstellar environments” as well as battle with up to 31 others in multiplayer that also supports four-player local and online co-op. Through the Build & Battle system, players call down structures from an orbiting space station to secure their base and strike back at their enemies as they engage in vehicle-based combat.

Sony to delve deeper into Kratos’ origins in God of War: Ascension

It’s time to see more of Kratos before he became the God of War. Sony has (officially) announced that he will be starring in a prequel to the long-running deity-slaying franchise, God of War: Ascension. Said to “show Kratos’ emotional path of redemption,” Ascension will also include an overhauled combat system, “promptless” mini-games, and a new multiplayer component. Up to eight players will be able to battle one another in several multiplayer modes, where they will have access to a variety of weapons and armor along with customizable avatars.

Starhawk announced for PS3

The ‘hawk series will continue in 2012 with a hard-edged spin-off, Starhawk. Currently in development at LightBox Interactive, in collaboration with Sony Santa Monica Studio, Starhawk will continue the third-person shooter action while expanding on the out-of-the-cockpit elements introduced in the 2007′s Warhawk as well as add a bit of real-time strategy to the mix. Players will take on the role of Emmett Graves, a gunslinger whose exposure to the powerful Rift Energy on the Frontier planets has left him partly mutated.
