Earth’s Dawn out digitally, physically for PS4, tomorrow for Xbox One

Rising Star Games has released oneoreight’s side-scrolling action title Earth’s Dawn for PS4. The game is available digitally and physically, while Xbox One owners will be able to grab a digital copy tomorrow. Earth’s Dawn is said to be a mixture of “fast-paced, side-scrolling 2D action game mechanics, unique dark-edge anime visuals, and deep RPG-like systems.” Players must save Earth from an invading alien force known as the E.B.E. To that end, they have access to combos, evades, a skill tree, and a crafting system capable of creating accessories, armor, and weapons.

Rising Star to publish oneoreight’s Earth’s Dawn in North America

Rising Star has announced that they will be releasing a new side-scrolling action title next month, Earth’s Dawn. Released in Japan as Earth Wars, the oneoreight-developed, anime-style release is set on an Earth overrun by aliens. As a soldier on the front line, players must battle the E.B.E. scourge by utilizing a combo-based combat system that makes use of the enemy’s own weapons. The game will launch on November 1 for PS4 and on November 2 for Xbox One, with a PC version set to be released “soon after.” A trailer was released alongside a batch of screenshots, and can be found below.

Becks sets out for PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U and Xbox One in Mighty No. 9

After a long road, the Mega Man-inspired action-platformer Mighty No. 9 has been released for console and PC. Developed by comcept and designed by Keiji Inafune, Mighty No. 9 follows the adventures of the robot Beck, unit No. 9 of a 10-robot squad of combat units. After a computer virus infects the others as well as the world’s machines, Beck, alongside his friend Call, must fight the now-violent bots as they track down the source.

Dash like a madman in new Mighty No. 9 gameplay trailer

Deep Silver has release a new gameplay trailer for Mighty No. 9. The upcoming action-platormer from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune and developer comcept is something of a spiritual successor to the Blue Bomber and features similar combat and platforming. The video highlights a bit of this, focusing on Beck’s dash ability. The multi-purpose move can be used to reach dangerous areas, collect power-ups, and defeat weakened enemies. It’s also key in maximizing the combo multiplier, as several can be chained together to continually absorb scattered power-ups.

Mighty No. 9 goes gooooold, launching on June 21 for console, PC

comcept has sent along the long-awaited word that Mighty No. 9 has gone gold. The side-scrolling action-platformer will hit digital outlets and store shelves on June 21. Note that the portable versions for 3DS and PS Vita will be along at a later, unspecified date. For the occasion, creator Keiji Inafune has written a message to everyone that’s been chomping at the bit to get their hands on the game, which can be found below.

3D Gunstar Heroes now available on eShop for 3DS

Treasure’s legendary action side-scroller Gunstar Heroes has been added to Sega’s 3D Classics line. 3D Gunstar Heroes, now available on eShop, features two versions (Japanese and International), local co-op, emulation options, stereoscopic 3D support, and new gameplay modes. The added modes include Mega Life (more health), Mega Shot (double damage), and Gunslinger (allows for players to discover new weapon combinations, a la Alien Soldier). The game’s extensive scrolling and high-intensity action made it particularly difficult to port to 3DS, and it was actually passed over previously. Black Forest goes speedrunning in Giana Sisters: Dream Runners

The Giana Sisters will be returning this summer in a new game designed around speedrunning. Black Forest Games is looking to have PC, PS4, and Xbox One players zipping around with friends and strangers this summer in Giana Sisters: Dream Runners, a new competitive multiplayer side-scroller. Up to four players will be able to select from five different characters, each with special abilities, to go head to head local or online, collecting gems and other power-ups as they dodge obstacles and other hazards in order to finish the stage first.

Sega to flex its trunk with Tembo the Badass Elephant for console, PC

Sega will be giving Sonic a rest later this year when they unleash their latest weapon against the world’s evils: Tembo the Elephant. Or to use its PG-13 name: Tembo the Badass Elephant. The side-scrolling action title from Game Freak for PC, PS4, and Xbox One pits Tembo and his friend Picolo against the dangerous organization known as Phantom. After invading Shell City, the National Guard calls on the patriotic pachyderm to smash, punch, and butt slam his way through 17 levels of Phantom forces. It’s time to earn them peanuts.

La-Mulana EX grabs its whip, heads into the depths of PSN for PS Vita

La-Mulana EX has gone live on PSN for PS Vita. The side-scrolling action platformer from Pygmy Studio once again calls the intrepid adventurer Professor Lemeza Kosugiembark to the dangerous ruins of La-Mulana. Players must help the whip-wielding explorer as he searches for lost treasure, battles monsters, and explores uncharted territory. The PS Vita version features a new bestiary and the option to undo the Hard Mode curse.

Trine 2 official site, new screens released, collector’s edition detailed
