Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta to open Versus for play in April

Gears of War 4’s multiplayer component will enter beta this April. Players who own Gears of War: Ultimate Edition for Windows 10 or Xbox One will being to receive tokens next month to access Versus, with the first wave of keys going out on April 18. The beta will run until May 1. Microsoft has also extended the qualification period. To qualify to receive a token, players need to log on to Xbox Live and play Ultimate Edition by 1 p.m. (CST) on April 11.

Cave shooter Deathsmiles blasts its way onto Steam

PC shooter fans are getting another heavy hitter from Degica today with the release of Deathsmiles. The popular Cave shooter has been available stateside for Xbox 360 since 2010, and its release on Steam marks its debut for PC. First-week buyers will receive a discount of 10% off as well as a download of the official soundtrack. The PC version supports local two-player co-op and sports five playable characters, six modes, and a nonlinear progression system.

Umbrella Corps screenshots, trailer, and details released

Capcom has given a bit more detail about their upcoming action title Umbrella Corps. The previously announced One Life Match mode will be joined by Multi-Mission. The mode will pit two teams of up to six players total against one another out in a best of five three-minute rounds. Eight rulesets will cycle randomly, ranging from having to collect five briefcases to a variant of dog tags where players must collect data collars of downed allies and enemies. Cave horizontal shooter Deathsmiles hitting PC this March

Degica has announced that they will be releasing the PC version of Cave’s Deathsmiles on March 10. Currently available for Xbox 360, Deathsmiles is a horizontal shooter that pits players, as angels, against the invading forces of Hell. The game features six modes, including Mega Black Label, five playable angels, branching paths, and support for local two-player co-op. The original soundtrack will also be included with the game for free during launch week.

Degica has announced a new trio of downloadable content add-ons for Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours. In addition to the three previously announced Taito-themed packs, the studio has revealed that three more will be added for various Sega shooters. The Sega set will include ships, levels, and remixed music based on Fantasy Zone, Galaxy Force II, and Space Harrier. The Taito packs, based on Metal Black, Night Striker, and RayForce, is scheduled to go live on March 17. The packs will be available individually for $4.99 or as three-pack bundles for $11.99. H1Z1 split into H1Z1: King of the Kill, H1Z1: Just Survive, trailers up

Daybreak Games has split their open-world zombie-themed survival title H1Z1 into two titles, H1Z1: King of the Kill and H1Z1: Just Survive. Both titles exist within the same universe but are being developed by different teams who are working towards separate content milestones. H1Z1: King of the Kill is an online shooter set in large arenas where players battle to be the last one standing across several modes, including Battle Royale. King of the Hill is set to launch this summer for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. H1Z1: Just Survive is based on the original concept of players scavenging for items, crafting gear, and building makeshift shelters while battling zombies and one another. Just Survive will be in Early Access for the rest of the year.

Sega has announced a retro-themed pre-order bonus for Sega 3D Classics Collection. Early buyers will receive a nine-sticker decal sheet when they pick up the compilation. The set of silver-hued stickers will include a Master System logo and console, a Mega Drive logo, a Genesis logo and console, a 16-Bit logo, a GigaDrive logo, a Professor Asobin, and of course, a Sega logo.

Ubisoft details free, for-pay DLC plans for Tom Clancy’s the Division

Tom Clancy’s the Division will be receiving three major expansions, according to Ubisoft. The online open-world role-playing shooter will receive both free updates and for-pay add-ons. The free updates will include standard balance tweaks and bug fixes along with new modes, such as group challenges in co-op. For-pay additions will be released throughout the year and add an underground area for up to four players in co-op, a survival mode, and another, unspecific mode called Last Stand. All three are included with the Season Pass, which also comes with an exclusive sawed-off shotgun and customize sidearm, in addition to outfits, weapon skins, and access to special events and content drops. Players can sign up for the upcoming beta here, which is set to kick off on January 28 for Xbox One and 29 for PC and PS4.

Umbrella Corps launching his May, new screens, trailer released

Umbrella Corps, the upcoming Resident Evil-themed arena shooter, will be hitting digital outlets this May for PC and PS4. In addition to a multiplayer component, there will also be a single-player campaign, The Experiment. Solo play will consist of over 20 multi-objective missions, tasking the player with battling through a “coliseum style horde-like mode” without the Zombie Jammer device found in multiplayer. Arenas will be based after areas found in Resident Evil 4 and 5, including the remote village from the fourth, and host numerous familiar enemies, such as the Ganados and Cerberus dogs. A new trailer was released alongside a handful of screenshots, all of which have been posted below.
