A few free, as well as some for-pay, downloadable packs will be hitting Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. All of the downloads are Free Battles, skirmishes that don’t affect the in-game clock that ticks down during story events and battles. The two freebies are Beginner’s Brawl and Lost Demon Rescue. The former will be up at launch and allow new players to level easily and bank some macca, as it won’t have scaling difficulty, while the latter will go live on May 12 and feature a recruitable demon that will join the party if it’s saved from two approaching enemy hordes. The for-pay battles run $0.99 each and switch things up by offering different scenarios, such as chasing down demons toting tons of macca. Full details for all are available below.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker’s demon auctions are the topic in the latest trailer from Atlus. Players can utilize fusing for acquiring new demons, but their limited number of uses means that new demons will have to be acquired primarily from an eBay-type app on their character’s phone. Demons are rated for their power and skills, and others within the game world will check the same stats and get into bidding wars with the player for the best on offer. Atlus has revealed details about SMT: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker’s SpotPass and StreetPass functionality. The company plans on releasing SpotPass content in waves, with the first set to release after the game is available, consisting of new demons and skill add-ons. The feature will also allow players to get a magic skill, normal skill, and a recommended physical skill for their skill pool to assign to their characters. StreetPass will assign random stat and skill bonuses to the player’s demons. And to show a bit more of what’s in store, new screenshots have been released, and a new Twitch stream is planned to go live today at 4:30 p.m. (CST). Note that the stream will contain spoilers for those who haven’t played the original version.

Not content with a soundtrack and slip cover, Atlus has decided that the launch edition of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker needed just one more extra to be complete: decals. Now, gamers who pre-order or pick up a launch copy will also receive sheets of decals featuring the main characters, including the protagonist, Daichi, Io, and others, plus a few logos of JP’s and Nicaea.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 story trailer debuts new content

Atlus has released a new story trailer for the upcoming Devil Survivor 2 re-release, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2. The 3DS role-playing game will feature voice tracks for the original and new content, extra StreetPass and SpotPass features, and an estimated 40 hours of new content that includes extra characters, bosses, and settings. Returning players can skip the original content entirely and start on the added material. The trailer reveals some of the new portion, the Triangulum arc.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker coming for 3DS

Atlus will be releasing an enhanced version of 2011’s Devil Survivor 2 for 3DS, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. The new version will feature relocalized dialog, an English voiceover track, new abilities, and a new epilogue episode that introduces the mysterious Miyako Hotsuin. The epilogue will be available to play from the start via the main menu or as part of the original story and is estimated to double the length of the original release.
