343 begins rolling out Halo Wars: Definitive Edition early access keys

Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is now available for early access to everyone who has pre-ordered the digital version of Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition. 343 Industries notes that the game is still in development, and that the version players can download today isn’t complete, and that they can “expect to see more improvements come online” as they continue “putting the finishing touches on the game before launch.” The Definitive Edition features a new multiplayer session browser, which replaces the legacy matchmaking system, allowing players to create and join multiplayer, skirmish, and co-op campaign sessions. Note that players who didn’t pre-order by December 14 might not receive their code today, but they should shortly, as those are being rolled out over the next few weeks. Also, the code will work for Windows 10 PC and Xbox One.

Sega bringing Valkyria Revolution over for PS4, Xbox One

The Valkyria series is continuing stateside next year with the release of Valkyria Revolution for PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One. Released in Japan as Valkyria: Azure Revolution, North American players will be able to purchase the game digitally and physically for PS4 and Xbox One as well as digitally for PS Vita. Neither strictly a sequel or a spin-off, Revolution is set in an alternate timeline from the main series, now based on Europe’s industrial revolution rather than WWII, and replaces the turn-based combat system with a hybrid setup. Combat is in real time, but players will also engage in tactical strategy across multiple battlefields. The story follows five vengeful friends, the Circle of Five, who use their influence to push an isolated nation to fight against imperialist neighbors. As the game plays out, the group will come to be viewed as brave liberators or traitorous murderers. One of the remaining Valkyrur, Brunhilde, is a wild card in the struggle.

Halo Wars 2 trailer up, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition rolling out Dec. 20

343 Industries’ Dan Ayoub released new info about Halo Wars 2 at this year’s The Game Awards. The first bit is a new trailer that centers around Atriox, the leader of the Banished, which can be found below. The other is that everyone who pre-orders the digital version of the Ultimate Edition will receive early access to Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, an enhanced version of the original, along with its downloadable content, for PC and Xbox One. Codes for it will be sent out beginning December 20. A trailer was also released for the Definitive Edition.

King Art’s tactical-RPG The Dwarves out for console, PC

THQ Nordic has released King Art’s latest strategy title The Dwarves for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Based on Markus Heitz’s first novel, aptly titled The Dwarves, players take on the role of Tungdil as he leads a party on a mission to save the realm of Girdlegard from evil. The game is said to offer “massive-scale, tactical battles in real-time and a brand new, physics-based ‘crowd combat system’,” with the latter highlighting the scale of combat when the heroes battle hundreds of smaller enemies. King Art funded the game via Kickstarter last year.

Two tracks by Gordy Haab, Finishing Move released from Halo Wars 2

343 Industries has revealed that Gordy Haab and Finishing Move will be contributing new tracks to Halo Wars 2. Haab has worked on several titles, including Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: The Old Republic, while Finishing Move’s work has appeared in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Two of tunes, “Run, Little Demons” and “Isabel’s Awakening,” have been released on Soundcloud. 343 Industries releases letter on development plans for Halo Wars 2

343 Industries held an open beta this past June for their upcoming real-time strategy title Halo Wars 2. Today, the studio released a letter detailing what was learned from the feedback sent in during and after the period, and their plans on how they will address several of the reoccurring issues. Some of the topics covered include changes to leader power balance and an increase to the current population count. Check out the full letter below.

Load the bolters! Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Space Marines trailer up

The Space Marines’ fleets in Battlefleet Gothic: Armada were first glimpsed in screenshots, and now they have their own trailer. The video showcases three of the five included Chapters, the Blood Angels, Space Wolves, and Ultra Marines. All of the chapters launch next week in a bundle that is free for everyone who pre-ordered or buys the game before June 21. The Space Marines will be playable in all multiplayer modes.

Space Marines revealed in new Battlefleet Gothic: Armada screens

The Space Marines have been called up and will be setting out for Battlefleet Gothic: Armada on June 21. Two pictures were released showing the multiplayer-only fleet, which will excel at close-range combat and boarding enemy vessels. Their ships are heavily armored, and the crew are immune to insubordination penalties and can prioritize attacking different subsystems when boarding. Five chapters will be represented: Ultramarines, Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, Dark Angels and Space Wolves. The latter two chapters are pictured.

GOG kicks off its 2016 Summer Sale with events, free games, more

GOG.com has officially begun its 2016 Summer Sale. Slated to run for two weeks, the promo will feature over 1,000 deals along with activities and an XP system that awards points for use towards free games. New deals will be added every 24 hours. To kick things off, the service is giving away a free copy of System Shock 2 through their GOG Galaxy client for the first 48 hours. The recently updated Homeworld Remastered Collection is also on sale for 50% off. For those wanting to see some of the games in action, GOG staff will be streaming Stardew Valley and Grim Fandango Remastered tomorrow on their Twitch channel.
