Otherside Entertainment developing System Shock 3

Underworld Ascendant developer Otherside Entertainment has announced that they are currently working on System Shock 3. The studio was able to secure the System Shock trademark from Night Dive Studios after nabbing IP rights to all future versions. A teaser site is already up, with SHODAN, who is once again voiced by Terri Brosius, making an appearance. Members of the two previous development teams have signed on to lend a hand, including Paul Neurath, System Shock 2 senior artist Nate Wells, and series lead concept artist Robb Waters.

Starpoint Gemini 2, a space sim and role-playing hybrid, has launched for Xbox One. Set against the backdrop of a mysterious event causing the Empire to halt at the Starpoint and cease finishing the remnants of the Gemini League, players will enter the scene as a ship captain surrounded by enemies. In time, they will be able to command a fleet of everything from agile gunships to massive carriers, battling in real-time combat and exploring a dynamic universe. The game features 50 factions, 100 commodities to trade or steal, 70-plus upgradeable ships, mercenaries, randomly generated missions based on actions and treaties, and a role-playing system. The Xbox One version sports a new save-anywhere system, redesigned interface, and no load screens.

Lightning Returns hits Steam, Final Fantasy VI launching next week

Square Enix is adding two more Final Fantasy titles to Steam, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy VI. Lightning Returns is available today for $15.99, and includes graphic options for high-end systems plus all downloadable content from the console version, save for ‘Final Fantasy VII Aerith Costume’. Final Fantasy VI is scheduled to go live on December 16 for $15.99, but early buyers can currently purchase it for 10% off. The story follows the mysterious Terra Branford as she uncovers her past. The PC version will feature support for Steam achievements and trading cards.

Two screens released from Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine

CD Projekt has released two new environmental screenshots from The Witcher 3’s second expansion pack, Blood and Wine. Scheduled to launch in the first half of 2016, the 20-hour adventure will add a region untouched by war, Toussaint. Geralt finds all the trappings of a calm, civilized land when he arrives but soon uncovers an unsettling secret. The screens show a village as well as a large capital, crowned with a gleaming castle.

Ni no Kuni will be returning with a new entry for PS4, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Revealed at PlayStation Experience 2015, the upcoming adventure from Level-5 will feature an entirely new cast of characters and storyline. The story follows Roland, a man who finds himself in another world and amidst the chaos of rebellion. He joins the young king in regaining the throne from the usurpers. An announcement trailer and a few screenshots were also released.

Acttil bringing PS4 action-RPG Fallen Legion stateside next summer

YummyYummyTummy’s upcoming side-scrolling action role-playing game Fallen Legion will be coming to North America, courtesy of Acttil. Slated to launch next summer for PS4, Fallen Legion tasks players with saving the Kingdom of Fenumia. As the recently crowned Queen Cecille, players must quash a rebellion to restore the safety of the realm. The queen has to not only lead her soldiers into battle, with up to four characters engaging in real-time combat, but also rule her subjects by making administrative decisions.

Acttil bringing new dungeon crawler to PS Vita, Ray Gigant

Acttil has announced that they will be bringing a new dungeon-crawler to PS Vita next spring, Ray Gigant. Developed by Experience Inc., the studio behind Demon Gaze and Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy, and published in Japan by Bandai Namco, the upcoming adventure will put players in the shoes of three different characters. The trio offer different points of view as each attempts to save the world from the Gigants and their minions, and by the end, their three journeys will converge as they cross paths. Gigants are massive creatures the size of skyscrapers that are rampaging across the planet, and to defeat them, the characters will have to grow stronger through the evolve tree system and utilize a rhythm-based battle system to add extra damage to their attacks.

Fallout 4 ships 12 million copies, $750 million brought back to vault

Bethesda announced that 12 million copies of Fallout 4 were shipped for launch, and that after brisk sales, more copies are en route to retail. The initial allotment represents a hefty $750 million in sales. On the digital front, a Steam record was broke when over 470,000 concurrent players were logged. Twitch also revealed that it was the “most viewed game launch of all 2015 games.” So I would say things are going well over at Bethesda HQ. Oh, I hope everyone’s feeling better; I heard there’s a nasty bug making the rounds.

inXile updates console version of Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut

The first patch has been released for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut. There are 10 bug fixes and over 20 balance-related issues tweaked in the update. Some of the changes made include improved sound positioning in conversations, increased time for animal husbandry engage, and the removal of Friendly Fire from Master Hunter.
