Final Fantasy XV release bumped back from September to November

Square Enix has pushed back the release of Final Fantasy XV to November 29. The extra time will be used to “allow the development teams time to further polish and conduct quality testing so that the reality of the game can match the expectations of both the fans and the creative teams.” A video from the game’s director, Hajime Tabata, has been released and posted below, which was made available alongside a statement. In part, he comments that he wishes “to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want Final Fantasy XV to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.” Additionally, the physical versions of Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy’s and Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV’s release dates might change, while the digital release of Kingsglaive remains August 30.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting the ‘game of the year’ treatment—and soon. CD Projekt Red has announced that Geralt is going all-in on August 30 with a Wild Hunt complete set that includes the original game, Hearts of Stone, Blood and Wine, and all minor downloadable packs. Sure it’s been out for over a year, but what do formalities matter when we’re talking about a hundred-plus hours of slaying monsters and tackling top-notch, well-written quests.

Torment: Tides of Numenera heading to PS4 and Xbox One in 2017

inXile and Techland Publishing are teaming up to publish console versions of Torment: Tides of Numenera for PS4 and Xbox One. The Kickstarter-backed sci-fi-themed role-playing game was originally scheduled to launch for PC early next year, but the new partnership will find all versions releasing at the same time. Both console versions will be at this year’s Gamescom, and a new announcement trailer offers a first look. No word on if backers will be able to switch their reward to one of the console versions.

Vikings – Wolves of Midgard gets new teaser, pre-order discount

Kalypso has released a new trailer for their upcoming action role-playing game Vikings – Wolves of Midgard. The footage highlights the combat system, including hand-to-hand melee and magic, along with a few of the locations and some of the enemies. Players will need to protect and rebuild their village from a variety of beasts as a warrior or shieldmaiden, solo or with a friend in online co-op. Balheim, Midgard, and Niflheim will open for exploration, while the gods can be swayed by blood sacrifices. Kalypso has also kicked off a pre-order promo on Steam offering a 15% discount as well as an exclusive customization pack, a digital art book, and a digital soundtrack.

A new video highlights some of the 450-plus demons that await in Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse. Players are able to negotiate, fuse, recruit, and of course, fight demons throughout Tokyo. Those that join the player’s party will gain experience along with increased stats and new abilities. Players can also learn skills from the demons. In addition to the video, over 20 item, movie, and quest DLC packs, both free and for-pay, were revealed.

Mobius Final Fantasy now available for Android, iOS

Square Enix’s latest mobile role-playing title, Mobius Final Fantasy, has launched for Android and iOS. A free download with in-app purchases, Mobius focuses on character customization and ongoing live events. Players take on the role of an amnesiac who finds himself in the world of Palamecia. He’s soon tasked with investigating a prophecy about a warrior of light in order to restore hope. As a bonus, from now through August 31, special items are being rewarded for players who dive into the game, including Tidus’s weapon Brotherhood from FFX, extra Ability Tickets, bonus Summon Tickets, and a Yuna character card. Daily login rewards will also run through August 12, gifting players with extra Ability Tickets, Bronze Openers, and Elixirs.

Update adds dungeons, more to PC version of Elder Scrolls Online

Update 11 has gone live for the Mac and Windows PC version of The Elder Scrolls Online. The download adds two new Argonian-themed four-player dungeons plus a slew of customization options via the Style Parlor. Through the parlor, players will be able to change their appearance, name, and race, as well as dye their costume and access “a large selection of cosmetic and quality of life additions.” Console players will be able to download Update 11 on August 16 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which, in addition to the PC update, will also introduce text chat. The Shadows of the Hist two-dungeon pack is available for 1,500 Crowns, while appearance and race-change tokens are 1,000 Crowns each and the name-change tokens are 2,500 Crowns each.

Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters is returning later this summer as Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs. Scheduled to launch on September 20, the mixed release will be available digitally and physically for PS4, and digitally for PS3 and PS Vita. The hybrid role-playing game set within a visual novel will once again task players with driving evil spirits out of the city as a ghost hunter. The new version will feature an expanded storyline with additional characters and extra chapters that are estimated to push the play time past the 30-hour mark.

The 8-bit-styled role-playing game The Longest Five Minutes is coming to North America for PC and PS Vita. Co-developed by NIS and Syupro-Dx, the adventure finds players inside the mind of a hero who is fighting his last battle with the nefarious Overlord. As he talks with his party and nemesis, the conversations will unlock memories of the hero’s quest that players will need to re-live, which will affect the party’s state when it comes time for the final showdown.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 1, 2 out for PC, PS4, Thursday for Xbox One*

Activision has released action role-playing games Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 for console and PC. The digital-only releases debuted in 2006 and 2009 respectively, and are now available separately for $39.99 or as a bundle for $59.99. For PC and PS4, that is, Xbox One owners will need to wait until Thursday. As mentioned on Marvel.com, the re-releases feature improved performance, support for local and online co-op, and “some” interface as well as graphic enhancements. The inclusion of the downloadable character packs is up in the air.
