7th Dragon III Code: VFD full, free DLC plans announced, trailer up

Sega has released a new trailer as well as their DLC plans for 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. The upcoming role-playing game will be hitting online outlets and store shelves next week, but for today, players can see more of what’s in store with the new video, titled Full Trailer. A demo’s also up on eShop, for those wanting some hands-on time. The game follows a party of heroes as they hunt dragons throughout three different time periods: ancient Atlantis, present Tokyo, and future Eden. Also, all of the download packs will be free for the week following their release, which will add new quests, characters, and weapons. The release schedule can be found below.

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse has been officially dated for September 20. To celebrate the announcement, Atlus has released a new trailer. The video focuses on the cast of characters that players will run across on their adventure, including the protagonist’s childhood friend and Hunter Association member Asahi, Eastern Kingdom samurai Navarre, and masked Ring of Gaea assassin Toki. And for those wanting to relive the original, two of the studio’s newer employees will be trying their hand at SMTIV today at 2:00 p.m. (CST) on the official Twitch channel.

Deep Silver to publish Persona 5, more Atlus, Sega titles in Europe

Good news for our European readers out there—you are out there, right?—from Atlus and Sega. The studios have teamed up with Deep Silver to release several of their titles throughout Europe. The slate of games includes some heavy hitters, namely Persona 5 and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse. Sega titles in the deal include 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. The deal is for both digital and physical releases. No dates were announced, though it was noted that 7th Dragon will be shipping after the North American release.

Sega has released a demo for 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. The upcoming role-playing game tasks players with hunting down dragons throughout different eras, and the demo allows eager adventurers to get an early start by offering demo save transfers. The trial offers a pre-made squad with a level cap of 10. However, players who carry over their save will be able to customize the party as well as reassign all skill points in the full version. There’s also a special reward for those who try the demo, but Sega is being tight-lipped about the details.

System Shock remake Kickstarter campaign, PC demo launches

Nightdive Studios has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund a full reboot of the classic role-playing and shooter hybrid System Shock. The 1994 original is being updated from the ground up for Windows PC and Xbox One, with original development members giving a hand, including concept artist Robb Waters. Linux and Mac versions are currently stretch goals. Physical copies are available for $75 and up, with digital rewards dominating lesser reward tiers. On the other end of the spectrum, gamers with deep pockets can get a multiple copies, digital goodies, and custom System Shock-themed Razor gaming laptop for $5,000. To help alleviate any fears about investing in the campaign, Night Dive has released a fully playable demo that can be downloaded from the campaign page.

I Am Setsuna character, environment watercolors released

While not screenshots, Square Enix has released some new media for their upcoming role-playing game I Am Setsuna. A handful of watercolors were sent out to offer players a first look at some of the environments that Setsuna will explore alongside her bodyguards Aeterna and Nidr. The duo, along with a few other characters, are also subjects of a few pieces themselves. Additionally, the studio announced pre-order incentives, with PS4 players receiving two dynamic system themes (Kuro for nighttime and Shiro for daytime) and an exclusive digital track, Eternal Winter, by composer Tomoki Miyoshi. PC players will receive a different track, The Warmth of Hope, through Steam.

The science-fiction-themed role-playing game has players take on the role of a cybernetically enhanced warrior, Zachariah. Trained from a young age and capable of harnessing the power of electricity, the initiate is about to finish his training and explore the planet as a full Technomancer. On the run from the Secret Police, he will be able to call up three different fighting styles, tricks, diplomacy, and agenda-driven allies during his dangerous trek.

The Abbey’s Melchior and Shigure join Tales of Berseria

Two newcomers to the Tales series have been introduced in new screenshots from Tales of Berseria. Members of the clergy, Melchior and Shigure Rangetsu, are joining the adventure. The two are from the Abbey, experts at exorcism, with Melchior being an elder who is experienced in alchemy and knowledgeable about ancient legends. Shigure is described as being more carefree and known for taking on tough tasks, but also as not being very popular in the organization.
