Resident Evil invades mobile CCG-RPG Deadman’s Cross

Square Enix and Capcom are teaming up for a collaborative special for Deadman’s Cross. The zombie-themed CCG RPG recently passed three million downloads for Android and iOS, and now, players will be able to battle some of the monsters from Resident Evil. Raccoon City has been added as a limited hunting area that includes exclusive cards, and is accessible by completing collaboration quests that begin today and run through July 27.

NIS has entered into a publishing partnership with Koei Tecmo America to release a limited edition of Gust’s upcoming role-playing game, Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star. Koei Tecmo America is handling the localization and publishing, while NIS is taking the lead on the premium version, which includes a 26-page hardcover art book, soundtrack, 16”x23” poster, and collector’s box. Ar Nosurge will see players following two sets of characters on two different, intertwining journeys set in the far future: Casty and Delta, who are attempting to save mankind, and Ion and Earthes, who are trying to find a way for Ion to return to Earth.

Aksys to bring Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters to North America

Aksys took some time out of Anime Expo 2014 to reveal that they’ve secured the North American publishing rights to Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters. The visual novel follows a transfer student to Kurenai High School who joins two ghost hunters after they save him from an evil spirit he encounters while wandering the campus. The game is said to have “a strategic role-playing element” that will involve players outsmarting ghosts by clever use of special ghost-hunting items. A release date was not announced.

Larian’s new adventure begins with release of Divinity: Original Sin

Larian’s next entry in the Divinity series, the crowdsource-funded Divinity: Original Sin, has officially launched. Those who have been playing the Steam Early Access version will find their copy automatically updated to release build. The $39.99 party-based role-playing game features co-op play with drop-in/drop-out support, turn-based combat, crafting, heavy character customization, and keeping true to series tradition, the ability to interact with environmental objects. The game also emphasis consequences, which is also present in multiplayer with co-op dialogue. The Divinity Engine Toolkit is also included for players to create their own adventures.

NIS America to bring PS3 RPG Fairy Fencer F to North America

NIS America has announced that they have acquired the digital and physical publishing rights for Compile Heart’s Fairy Fencer F. The PS3 turn-based role-playing game features character art by Tsunako as well as concept art and music by Final Fantasy alumni Yoshitaka Amano and Nobuo Uematsu, respectively. As a Fencer, players will hunt wish-granting Furies, battle enemies in a 3D combat system, and customize both their character and their dungeon.

Hyperdimension Neptunia will be returning this August with Re;Birth1 for PS Vita. Idea Factory International has announced that they will be launching the game, a remake of the original Hyperdimension Neptunia, on August 26 online and in stores. The new version will feature all of the content of the PS3 original as well as improved visuals, updated event conversations, a new scenario, a new ending, more customization options through the Remake System, item crafting, and Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory’s battle system. All of the PS3 release’s downloadable content is also being added.

Wasteland 2 – Digital Deluxe Edition adds Bard’s Tale, now on sale

inXile has announced that the Early Access version of Wasteland 2 – Digital Deluxe Edition is part of the Steam Summer Sale, and that they have added a copy of the 2004 reimagined Bard’s Tale to the package. Other extras with the Digital Deluxe include beta access to Wasteland 2, a copy of the first Wasteland, a soundtrack, an artbook, and two novellas. The 15% discount currently running on Steam will be good throughout the Summer Sale. Additionally, all of the Kickstarter and late backers now have access to the Wasteland 2 beta through Early Access.

E3 2014: Square Enix – Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Hitman

Final Fantasy Type-0 (PS4, Xbox One)

Square Enix has announced a number of new entries across several series, including Final Fantasy, Hitman, and Tomb Raider. One of the biggest surprises is that Final Fantasy Type-0 and Final Fantasy Agito are both coming to North America. Type-0 was released for PSP in Japan in 2011 and will be brought over as an HD remastered release for PS4 and Xbox One. Agito is a free Android and iOS title (supported with in-app purchases) that features characters from Type-0 and allows players to make changes that affect others within the in-game community. As a cadet in the Dominion of Rubrum, players attempt to become Agito, the savior of Orience, and will have access to a variety of character-customization options, crafting options, and missions that feature large-scale co-op battles involving the entire community. No release dates were announced for either title.
