Grandia II Anniversary Edition to launch on August 24

GungHo has announced that Grandia II HD Edition has been renamed Grandia II Anniversary Edition in honor of the series’ 15th anniversary. Additionally, the studio plans on releasing the remastered version on GOG.com and Steam on August 24. A launch promo is also available for early buyers that knocks 25% off the regular price of $19.99. The PC version will feature a host of visual enhancements, including new shadows, higher resolution, and anti-aliasing, plus a new Japanese voice-over track, a new difficulty level, and controller support.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is now on Steam for Windows PC. The PC version is said to more closely represent the director’s vision, adding new gameplay features and PC specific add-ons to the world. Other enhancements include an improved battle camera, scalable motion-blur settings, options for increased resolution, and support for controllers. The Legend of Legacy limited edition contents detailed

The Legend of Legacy will be getting the traditional ‘Atlus treatment’ when it launches on October 13. Which means, of course, goodies! Pre-order and launch editions will come boxed in a 6” x 8” case, packed with a 40-page hardcover art book, featuring commentary from character artist Tomomi Kobayashi, and a 10-track soundtrack CD with arrangements from Saga and Final Fantasy XIII composer Masashi Hamauzu. Also, unlike the past few Atlus releases, Legend of Legacy will be released for $39.99.

Divinity: Original Sin II announced, hitting Kickstarter this month

Larian Studios has announced that Divinity: Original Sin II is in development. As with the original, the studio will be turning to the fans via Kickstarter to help fund the final release. But before the campaign begins on August 26, Larian is allowing potential funders the chance to vote on the campaign’s rewards. As to why the studio is returning to crowdfunding, Larian founder Swen Vincke wrote in a blog post that, among other reasons, the feedback from backers and Steam Early Access players proved invaluable during development. And as to what they have planned, he uses the example of Baldur’s Gate 2 in comparison to Baldur’s Gate, in that the sequel will offer more and better content due to the team not having to focus on developing an engine.

The Descent downloadable pack has gone live for Dragon Age: Inquisition. The add-on introduces a new storyline, dungeon, and characters for $14.99. After a series of earthquakes rattle Thedas, players must travel underground and navigate the dangerous Deep Roads to discover the source. Along the way, the party will uncover more about the history of the dwarves as well as acquire some high-end gear.

Larian has revealed the first trailer for the console versions of Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition at gamescom 2015. The trailer, posted below, offers PS4 and Xbox One owners the chance to see the adventure that awaits in the new version, which will feature split-screen co-op, dual dialog options, reworked controls and interface for consoles, and two difficulty levels to accommodate those that prefer adventure and exploration or tougher battles. The trailer also touches on the dynamic environments, character customization, and player choice.

Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold is now in stores, online for 3DS. The latest retelling of the original trilogy, following 2013’s The Millennium Girl, also comes with free downloadable content. Several batches are slated for release, and today’s is a mix of permanently free, free for a limited time, and for-pay. Free from here on out, Yggdrasil Veteran includes a set of character portraits from the original Etrian Odyssey 2. Free until August 10 is Highlander’s Return, which brings over the Highlander class introduced in Millennium Girl into both Story and Classic. Also free until August 10 is Hidden Hot Springs!, a new quest in the third Stratum that includes unlockable portraits for Arianna and Chloe. The lone for-pay download, the $1.99 Wanted: Golden Sprout, is an easy quest to track down rare sprouts in order to create dishes that lead to premium Grimoire stones. Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold hits stores and online outlets next week, and today marks the final character reveal for Chloe, the party’s War Magus. As the resident mage, Chloe will be the first to summon when in need of health, resurrection, or debuffs. Her abilities work well with other storyline characters, as well as those the player can recruit when going through the game in classic mode. She is a touch brusque, though. Her trailer can be found below, along with another video that describes how the old town-improvement mechanic works with the new ability to set up advertising campaigns for the local eatery.

Deep Silver has announced that Risen 3: Titan Lords Enhanced Edition will launch on August 21 for PS4. Coinciding with the news was the release of the first gameplay video for the new version. The direct-capture footage highlights the graphical upgrade the next-gen version is receiving, including higher resolution textures, new post-process effects, and a volumetric cloud system to enhance the day-night cycle.
