Shiro Games will be releasing Evoland 2: A Slight Case of Spacetime Continuum Disorder, the follow-up to their era-spanning homage to role-playing games Evoland, on August 25. The download-only release will be available through Steam. As with the original, Evoland 2 will be heavily referential, with winks and nods to numerous classic and contemporary titles, and frequently switch gameplay as well as art styles. Eight new screenshots have also been released, showcasing the various play styles that will be on offer, from platforming to top-down shooting.

Atlus has released a new trailer highlighting the traitors in the player’s midst in Lost Dimension. During each game, players must discover who of the squad are traitors, or risk having to face them during the last battle. Choosing the wrong character not only leaves one more traitor to face but also one less ally to call upon during the final encounter. Players need to delve deep into their squadmates’ minds in order to find out if they’re loyal or ready to turn.

Suikoden III now available as a PS2 Classic on PSN for PS3

Following their release of Suikoden II late last year, Konami has added Suikoden III to PSN as part of the PS2 Classic line. The third entry takes place within the Grasslands around 16 years after its predecessor, during an uneasy peace between the six clans that rule the area and the eastern nation of Harmonia. While some things have been carried over from the first two titles, such as the recruitable 108 Stars of Destiny that are scattered throughout the lands, others have changed quite a bit, namely that the story is now told through three different characters. Each character represents a different side, allowing players to see events from the perspective of a Grasslander as Karaya clan member Hugo, Harmonian as border guard Geddoe, and Zexen as knight Chris Lightfellow.

Dontnod and Focus Home team up for new RPG, Vampyr

Dontnod, the studio behind Remember Me and Life Is Strange, is working on a new role-playing game with Focus Home Interactive, Vampyr. The Unreal Engine 4-powered adventure will take players back to early 20th-century Britain as military surgeon-turned-vampire Jonathan E. Reid. As the Spanish flu spreads through the city, players must make their way through the chaos using melee attacks, vampire skills, and firearms as they search for live-saving prey. Any character met can be a victim, and each follows their own routine, which will allow players to decide if they want to trap them to ensure another meal or let them go if their death would cause too much of a commotion.

The working title is Nier New Project, and as with the previous titles in the universe, including the Drakengard series, the game will be an action-heavy role-playing game. Only this time, PlatinumGames will be assisting by “amplifying the action-oriented combat and building a beautifully diverse visual experience that will fully harness the graphical power of the PlayStation 4 system.”
