Rockstar to release official and remixed L.A. Noire soundtracks
L.A. Noire is getting double the funk with two soundtracks: L.A. Noire: Remixed and L.A. Noire Official Soundtrack. The Official Soundtrack is an original score “inspired by the sweeping orchestral scores of the great films of the 1940s.” Recorded in Abbey Road Studios and composed by Andrew Hale (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, The Getaway), the soundtrack features contemporary takes on period pieces produced and written by Stephen Coates (The Real Tuesday Weld) with guest vocals by Claudia Brucken (Propaganda) and additional music composed by Woody Jackson (Red Dead Redemption). Remixed includes six “jazz standards” re-interpreted by DJs and producers, with the assistance of Verve Records.

L.A. Noire: The Collected Stories launching soon on eBook retailers
Rockstar Games has teamed up with Little, Brown and Company imprint Mulholland Books for L.A. Noire: The Collected Stories. The download-only release, set to launch on June 6 on major eBook retailers, will feature stories from Megan Abbott, Lawrence Block, Joe Lansdale, Joyce Carol Oates, Francine Prose, and more. The stories will introduce readers to characters featured in L.A. Noire, allowing them to “explore the lives of actresses desperate for the Hollywood spotlight; heroes turned defeated men; and classic Noir villains.”

Max Payne 3 info, screens released
Rockstar has released some new details and screenshots for their upcoming third-person shooter Max Payne 3. Set eight years after the second, Max is no longer a cop but an alcoholic pill addict working in in Sao Paulo, Brazil’s private security sector. The story revolves around Max’s fall from a New York detective to hired guard for the family of wealthy real estate magnate Rodrigo Branco.

Red Dead Redemption preorder-exclusive DLC getting general release next week
The Red Dead Redemption preorder-exclusive DLC is now making its way onto Live Marketplace and PS Network. The three pieces – The Deadly Assassin Outfit, The Gold Guns Weapon Pack, and The War Horse – will be available for 80 MS Points/$.99 each. The items should start hitting the services on April 12, and be available in all territories on both platforms within 24-48 hours after.

For all of you looking forward to L.A. Noire, the upcoming gritty detective adventure set in Hollywood’s Golden Age, Rockstar has announced a slew of preorder programs for bonus in-game items. Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop/EB Games, Target, and Wal-Mart will all be doling out goodies, from detective outfits to additional cases to solve.
