Sega has confirmed THQ’s recent announcement that they have purchased all shares of THQ Canada Inc., better known as Relic Entertainment Studios, for $26.6 million. The press release also noted the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War series, but it didn’t specify whether its license was actually part of the sale. THQ has detailed the weather-simulating technology that Relic will be employing in their upcoming real-time strategy title Company of Heroes 2. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine’s free co-op mode Exterminatus is now available to download for the PC and PS3. Xbox gamers will be able to download it “soon.” Exterminatus will be accessible through the main menu and allow teams of four to squad up as a Space Marine Tactical Marine, Devastator, or Assault Marine. Players will be able to kit out their marine with a customized weapon and perk loadout as they take them through the two dynamic-challenge-filled scenarios, Assault on Hab Center Andreas and Escape From Kalkys Facility.
Relic’s Warhammer: 40,000: Space Marine has shipped to retail for the 360, PC, and PS3. The third-person action title mixes melee and ranged combat as players take on the role of a hulking Space Marine sent to an Imperial Forge World to fend off an Ork invasion.
With Relic’s action-shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine just around the corner (September 6), publisher THQ has announced a five-day contest in which different prize types will be given away each day until launch. The giveaways will take place on the game’s official Facebook page, with prizes ranging from merchandise to in-game content.
THQ has revealed the box art for Relic’s upcoming third-person action release, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine. Nothing like seeing an Ork getting a good what for. Space Marine is scheduled to ship later this summer for the 360, PC, and PS3.
