Nordic Games acquires remaining property for Codename: Panzers

Nordic Games has finished acquiring the real-time strategy property Codename Panzers. The World War II-era series comprised three titles, but only two, Codename: Panzers – Phase I and Phase II, were developed by series creator and now-defunct Hungarian-based studio StormRegion. Both games were released in North America by the also now-defunct publisher cdv Entertainment. The IP was purchased from Neocoregames, the studio behind the King Arthur hybrid strategy and role-playing series as well as the more recent Van Helsing titles. Nordic purchased the third release in the series, Cold War, a year and a half ago from Make Projects UG, Germany, and now owns the whole shebang.

Kasedo to publish new strategy title, Mechs & Mercs: Black Talons

Kasedo Games has announced a new mech-themed real-time strategy title, Mechs & Mercs: Black Talons. As commander of the Black Talons mercenary outfit, players must team up with the defeated Genai forces in order to escape their conquered planet by breaking the blockade set up by the victorious Tzanar Union. The campaign will unfold to include up to five worlds, and progress is determined by how much the player affects a local system’s balance of power and their relations with other factions. Squads will be persistent and customizable, made up of specialized units with their own abilities, skill trees, and unique weapons. The Black Talons’ base will also be customizable with facilities to boost squad skills and numbers as well as bombard enemy units.

Blizzard details StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm launch events

The Zerg know how to do two things, swarm outposts and party. The latter is a little-known fact, but come March 11, they will be doing plenty of both with the launch of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Blizzard will be holding several parties around the globe to celebrate the release, with festivities planned in the US, Australia, France, Russia, South Korea, and elsewhere. Each location will host Blizzard staff who will be on-hand to greet fans. The official US party will be at the GameStop in Irvine, California, located at The Great Wheel Court of the Irvine Spectrum Mall, 71 Fortune Drive.

Eugen Systems, developers of the much underrated R.U.S.E., is gearing up for the release of their upcoming real-time strategy title, Wargame: European Escalation. Set to launch later this year, Escalation Europe will feature 320 playable units, the IrisZoom feature for region-wide planning and local fighting, as well as a what-if story where NATO goes to war against the Warsaw Pact in 1975. A recently launch website includes more details, media, and a forum to keep the community updated. The studio also released four new shots of the game, showing off some of the armor and air units.
