Turn 10 Studios addresses player complaints regarding Forza 5

Forza developer Turn 10 Studios has responded to some of the complaints regarding the price of cars and tokens, including the inability of Limited Edition owners to purchase any vehicle in the game, which was supposed to be part of the package, and the low credit payouts. Community manager Brian Ekberg has announced the studio’s plans to address the issues, such as offering a 50 percent credit and token discount, free cars, and additional compensation for those affected. Need for Speed Rivals puts pedal to the metal, arriving with PS4

Electronic Arts has announced that the next-gen version of Need for Speed Rivals will be arriving ahead of schedule and hitting store shelves (and PSN) alongside the PS4, on November 15. Rivals will support Remote Play, which will allow gamers to begin races on their PS4 and end them on their PS Vita, or vice versa. The Frostbite 3-powered racer will allow players to take to the streets as a racer on the run from the law or as the pursuing police. The game will boast day and night cycles, weather effects, and different progression paths that have their own vehicles and unlocks.

Forza Motorsport 5 to get six DLC packs, LaFerrari Car Pack detailed

Microsoft has announced the post-launch support Turn 10 has in store for Forza Motorsport 5. A total of six 10-car packs are scheduled for release, with the first pack launching on November 22, and the rest following on a monthly basic from January through May. The first out the gate, the LaFerrari Car Pack, will launch alongside the Xbox One and include the rare titular hypercar. More info on the remaining cars in the inaugural pack will be revealed on November 18.

MS anounces Limited and Day One editions for Forza Motorsport 5

Turn 10 Studios is preparing for the Xbox One launch with two special editions of Forza Motorsport 5, the Limited Edition and the Day One Edition. Both versions are available for pre-order, with the Limited Edition coming with the Limited Edition Car Pack, which includes five rides, VIP Membership for more rewards and events (plus an exclusive five-car VIP pack), and the Day One Car Pack. The Day One Edition, a special pre-order and launch release of the standard version, includes the three-car Day One Car Pack as well as themed packaging that matches the console’s design. The TrackMania series returns today with the launch of TrackMania 2 Stadium on Steam and the Nadeo ManiaPlanet platform. The follow-up to Canyons, Stadium is the second of three announced expansions for TrackMania 2 and features a new campaign, new tools for its expansive track editor, and an overhauled graphics engine.

Open-wheel cars to debut in Forza Motorsport 5, screens released

Open-wheel cars will be making their Forza debut in Forza Motorsport 5, according to developer Turn 10 Studios. The new additions include cars from current and past grand prixs as well as Formula 1. Some of the announced rides include the 1976 McLaren M23, the 1976 Ferrari 312-2, and a selection representing four of the Izod IndyCar Series’ top teams (Andretti Autosport, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Target Chip Ganassi Racing, and Team Penske).

Grid 2 launches for consoles and PC, new screens released

Codemasters’ latest racer, Grid 2, is now available for 360, PC, and PS3. Launching alongside the title is the new RaceNet website that allows players to track their progress, access new events, tackle global challenges, and unlock special achievements. An app that will tie in to the site is also nearing completion, and is scheduled to launch “very soon.”

Codemasters announces $189,000 Grid 2: Mono Edition for PS3

In this week’s ‘Holy Hell!’ entry, we have Codemasters announcing that they are releasing a £125,000 (roughly $189,000) edition of Grid 2. Dubbed Grid 2: Mono Edition, this ultra premium edition is, according to the release, being recognized by Guinness World Records as the “Most Expensive Video Game Commercially Available – Special Edition”. So, what does nearly $200,000 get you? A copy of the game—whew!—a BAC Mono supercar in Grid 2 livery, a day at the BAC factory that includes a tour and visit with technicians to customize the BAC Mono, a themed Mono Edition-branded Bell Racing helmet, race wear (suit, boots, and gloves made to measure), and a PlayStation 3.

Nordic Games acquires Darksiders, Red Faction, Titan Quest, more

Nordic Games snatched up some properties from the recent THQ auction. The Painkiller HD publisher acquired 150-plus SKUs for 4.9 million across all major consoles and PC. Darksiders, Frontlines, Full Spectrum Warrior, Juiced, MX vs. ATV, Red Faction, Stuntman, Supreme Commander, and Titan Quest are slated to join the JoWood and Dreamcatcher IPs already in Nordic’s stable. Don’t expect any major moves just yet, as Lars Wingefors, owner and CEO of Nordic Games, stated that they will not “dash into several self-financed multi-million dollar projects right away, but rather to continue our in-depth analysis of all titles” in regards to how to approach new installments from the acquired IPs.

Ridge Racer goes free to play with Ridge Racer Driftopia for PC, PS3

A new downloadable free-to-play entry in the Ridge Racer series was announced today by Namco Bandai, Ridge Racer Driftopia. Not much else was revealed, other than that Bugbear Entertainment, developer of last year’s Ridge Racer Unbounded, is heading up development and that the focus will be on “the series’ irresistible signature drifting”.
