The set includes the first six Mega Man games, a new Challenge Mode that offers remixed segments from all games with scaling difficulty along with leaderboard support, and a Museum with hundreds of unlockables. The unlockable content includes songs, concept sketches, production art, and unused designs. As a reminder to fans of physical media, this download-only release will be joined by a $29.99 boxed copy early next year for 3DS, PS4, and Xbox One.

Sega releases second video in interview series for Yakuza 5

Sega has released the second video of their ongoing series exploring the themes and history of Yakuza 5. The first, released last April, offered an overview of the storyline and inspirations behind the series, while the latest interview, with developers Mr. Nagoshi and Mr. Yokoyama, covers the character designs, hostess clubs, and new cities. The two also touch on the series’ appeal to Western audiences.

The upcoming Mega Man compilation, Mega Man Legacy Collection, has been officially dated for August 25. Save for the 3DS version, that is, which is slated for an early 2016 release. Gamers who prefer physical copies should be glad to hear that Capcom plans on releasing the 3DS, PS4, and Xbox One versions in stores early next year as well. Boxed copies will cost a bit more, however, running $29.99 instead of $14.99. Details about the 3DS and physical versions should be coming along in the near future. 505 Games and Starbreeze will be updating Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons for the latest console generation. Scheduled to launch online on August 12, the puzzle-platforming adventure will be available for PS4 and Xbox One with extra content, including an art gallery, the soundtrack, and a director’s commentary walkthrough. As with the last-gen versions, Brothers for PS4 and Xbox One will be a download-only release.

Atlus has released an updated version of Abyss Odyssey for PS4, the Extended Dream Edition. The original release of the 2D action platformer is already available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and now next-gen owners—well, current-gen—will get the chance to experience the lovely, challenging adventure in 1080p. In addition to graphical improvements, the game features all updates released for PC, which includes expanded move lists and multiplayer support for two players locally and four players online in duel mode. PS Plus subscribers can currently grab it or the PS3 version for 40% off.

NIS announces exclusive Samurai Warriors 4-II limited edition for PS4

NIS will be releasing a limited edition of Samurai Warriors 4-II for PS4. The special version will launch on September 29 exclusively through their online store, and will come packed with an 80-page art book, a 13-track CD, and a collector’s box. Koei Tecmo is handling traditional retail and digital publishing duties for the standard edition. The latest entry in the series will feature revamped combat and character-progression mechanics, 13 chapters, nine characters (including a new addition), and a wave-based challenge mode, Endless Castle.

Sierra has released Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved for PS Vita. Even better, PS Plus members can grab the title for free as part of the July Instant Game Collection promotion. The twin-stick shooter from Lucid Games features the 50-challenge Adventure mode, 40-stage Ultimate mode, Hardcore mode (similar to the original Geometry Wars), and six-stage Classic mode, plus six upgradeable companion drones and six upgradeable abilities. Multiplayer is supported with online versus play, community leaderboards, and local co-op that utilizes both the front and rear touchscreens. Longtime fans will also want to note that Lucid Games was formed by senior developers from series creator Bizarre Creations.

Gauntlet: Slayer Edition set to release this summer for PS4

Warner Bros. announced that they will be releasing a new version of last year’s reimagined Gauntlet later this summer for PS4. Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, Gauntlet: Slayer Edition brings the Elf, Warrior, Wizard, and Valkyrie back for more solo and co-op action. The console version will feature a new locale along with new abilities, enemies, and weapons. Pre-orders are also open today, and early buyers will receive item codes for Mordok’s Screaming Hammer and Reaper’s Visage Helm for the Warrior.

Zero Escape Volume 3 announced for 3DS, PS Vita

Over the weekend, Aksys announced that they will be bringing over the follow-up to Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward, Zero Escape Volume 3, to 3DS and PS Vita next summer. As with its predecessors, including series originator 999, players must make their way through a trap-filled labyrinth by solving puzzles alongside other prisoners. The visual novel-theme will return along with multiple endings, voiced cinematics, and dual voice-over support.
