Traps, crossbows, and more in new The Evil Within trailer

The Evil Within, Tango Gameworks’ upcoming survival-horror title, is due out next week, and Bethesda has released a new gameplay video. The trailer, Fight for Life, runs around three and a half minutes long and features more blood-splattered walls, monsters, and combat, but the focus this time is on traps. Traps can not only be used to lure enemies to their (final) death but also to construct new weapons, with the footage demonstrating a powerful mechanical crossbow. It’s one of the more action-packed videos to come out, plus it has an extended sequence with Pyramid Head’s long-lost brother, The Keeper.

Dying Light trailer showcases Be the Zombie pre-order DLC

Techland has released a new trailer to show off its asymmetric multiplayer mode, Be the Zombie, in their upcoming open-world, zombie-themed action title Dying Light. The new video, Be the Zombie, gives an idea as what players can expect when their multiplayer game is invaded by another player in the form of a Night Hunter zombie. Invasions will take part in all versions of the game, but to be the Night Hunter and invade other worlds, players will have to pre-order the game to access the Be the Zombie mode.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One

Warner Bros. Interactive is sending adventurers back to Mordor today with the release of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. The open-world action title takes place between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and puts players in the role of Talion, a Gondorian Ranger of the Black Gate on a quest for revenge. After Sauron kills him and his family, Talion is resurrected by a Wraith Spirit and sets off to battle Sauron’s forces and discover why he was brought back to life. Each enemy Tailon faces will result in a procedurally generated encounter that is said to be unique to each player, with enemies featuring different strengths, appearances, and missions. And as part of their pact with the wraith, players will be able to control the enemies they encounter, forming an army of their own.

The Evil Within – Every Last Bullet ‘survival 101′ trailer released

The Evil Within has gone gold, and to get survival-horror aficionados properly prepared, Bethesda has released new gameplay footage. The trailer is the first in the new Every Last Bullet series, offering a ‘survival 101’ lesson for those looking to assist Detective Castellanos in his battle against strange monsters in a nightmarish world. The video covers what few tools he’ll have at his disposal, and the need to burn anything and everything that moves.

New Final Fantasy XV –Episode Duscae– screenshots released

Square Enix released two new batches of screenshots today from Final Fantasy XV and Type-0 HD. First up is FFXV, and more specifically, the upcoming downloadable demo, Final Fantasy XV –Episode Duscae–. Duscae, which will feature the opening section of FFXV but with altered story elements, will be accessible via a download voucher that will be included with Type-0 for both PS4 and Xbox One. The shots show some combat against goblins, a few of the character close-ups, and a herd of giant Garula. The release also noted that all pictures were taken from in-game footage.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare co-op mode debuted in new trailer

A new trailer has been released for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Titled Power Changes Everything, the nearly three-minute-long video features the debut of the game’s four-player co-op mode, Exo Survival. The sci-fi-heavy action has infantry donning exo suits, cloaking, launching spiked grenades into faces, and using deployable zip lines to grab enemies.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD dated for March, to include FFXV demo

Square Enix announced at the Tokyo Game Show that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will be arriving on digital outlets and store shelves on March 17. The new adventure, set on the world of Orience, is said to offer “a gritty worldview and an action-packed battled system.” It was also revealed that access to a demo of Final Fantasy XV, titled Final Fantasy XV -Episode Duscae-, will be included. The demo, in the form of a download unlocked via voucher, will be unique in that it will include the same opening section as the final game but feature an alternative story progression. New trailers for both have been posted, and some new screens from Type-0 HD.

Alien: Isolation’s Survivor Mode now official, DLC packs announced

Sega has officially announced Alien: Isolation’s Survivor Mode, which was debuted earlier this year at E3. As a terrified survivor on board the Sevastopol Station, players must make use of limited resources in order to avoid detection by a lone Xenomorph while also completing a series of objectives. The game will ship with one map, Basement, but more will be available as downloadable content beginning on October 28. Basement will include three new maps as well as a new playable character. Five add-on packs in total will be released by March, each featuring a new playable character, different enemies to avoid, and new maps. A Season Pass is now available for all packs, offering a savings of 25%.

Anomaly 2 guided safely onto PSN, now available for PS4

Earth’s future isn’t looking too good in Anomaly 2, now on PSN for PS4. Even though I thought we helped to defeat the alien invaders back in 2012, they apparently returned with a vengeance and overran the planet with their damned machines. Players once again take on the role of a convoy’s commander, guiding the vehicles through a maze of defensive structures and alien attackers in what’s been dubbed a tower-offense design. Additions include the ability to transform troops into war mechs, a multiplayer versus mode with tower defense versus offense, and alternate endings.
