PlayStation Experience 2014 Highlights – Suikoden II, Street Fighter V

Some big news came out today from Sony’s PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas. The biggest of which is arguably the reveal and announcement of console exclusivity of Street Fighter V. Sony and Capcom have partnered up to release it for PS4, and to make it cross-platform compatible with PC. To keep gamers occupied until then, Capcom is also releasing Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4. Another surprise came out of Konami, who announced that the highly acclaimed Suikoden I and II will be available on PSN for PS3 and PS Vita next week, on December 9. Sega wasn’t to be outdone, however, with the reveal that Yakuza 5 will be a downloadable release for PS3 in 2015, nor Atlus, who gave Persona fans more to look forward to in 2015 the news that Persona 5 will be available for PS3 and PS4.

New King’s Quest gameplay trailer debuted at The Game Awards 2014

Sierra has released the first gameplay trailer from The Odd Gentlemen’s King’s Quest. The studio revealed the trailer at this year’s The Game Awards, which coincided with series creator Roberta Williams winning the Industry Icon Award alongside Sierra co-founder Ken Williams. The upcoming reimagining adds new chapters to the original games but are independent of them while keeping the same main characters and storylines from the earlier entries.

PC adventure title Syberia now available on PSN for PS3

Nordic Games has some good news for console adventure fans with the announcement that Syberia is now on PSN for PS3. The decade-plus-old adventure title runs $14.99 and features updated graphics along with a new controller-friendly interface. Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- Limited Edition delayed one to two weeks

The limited edition version of Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- has been delayed. Aksys Games has revealed that strikes at the Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles have held up a few of the pack-in items. On a positive note, everything should be back on track soon and the LE ready for release within one to two weeks. The standard edition will still be available on December 16.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare to get Exo Zombies mode in 2015

Sledgehammer has revealed on their blog that they will be releasing a zombies mode, Exo Zombies, for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The mode will be part of the upcoming DLC pack Havoc, which is slated to launch early next year.

Guilty Gear Xrd –Sign– demo launches for PS Plus members

Aksys has released a demo of Arc System Works’ latest fighter, Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, for PS3 and PS4. The only hitch is that it’s currently only available for PS Plus members, at least from now until December 8. The demo features two playable characters, Ky Kiske and Sol Badguy, as well as access to Tutorial Mode and the prologue via Arcade Mode.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin announced for console and PC

From Software has more Dark Souls II in store for 2015. Bandai Namco has announced that the studio is currently working on Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin for 360, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Scheduled to launch on April 7, Scholar of the First Sin will include the original game along with all three downloadable chapters (The Lost Crowns Trilogy) and brand-new content. New enemies, in-game events, and an extra non-playable character are being added for all versions, which will be included in the free ver. 1.10 patch for current owners. The versions for the newer consoles and DirectX11 PCs will also sport enhanced graphics.

Symbiotes invade Zen Studios, announce Venom Pinball

Venom will be swinging out of the pages of Spider-Man and into his own game, courtesy of Zen Studios. The developer has announced that a new Venom-themed pinball table will go live on December 8 for its various platforms, including Marvel Pinball, Pinball FX2, and Zen Pinball 2. The table will feature Venom battling both Spider-Man and fellow Symbiote-powered villain Carnage. A handful mini-game will also play out Spider-Man’s time with the Symbiote as well as Carnage’s origins.

Resident Evil remake progress revealed in 19 new screenshots

Capcom has released nearly 20 new screenshots from the upcoming remastered version of Resident Evil. The new version is based on the GameCube re-release from 2002 and is currently in development for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. This latest iteration will sport upgraded textures, remastered audio with support for 5.1, the choice between 4:3 or 16:9 widescreen, and support for a new control scheme or the old tank-style controls.
