Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon launches online in an explosion of neon
Things just got weird. Or, a lot like my childhood. Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon, the standalone 80s-themed expansion to the very non-80s-themed Far Cry 3, is available for consoles and PC. The $14.99 download, developed by Ubisoft Montreal, is a wink, a nod, a nudge, and a high-five to the 1980s, with the world looking as if it was recorded off a VHS copy of Excessive Action 2: Island Assault. Players take on the role of Sergeant Rox Colt, a Mark IV cyber commando that is “part man, part machine, all American,” on the hunt for a former commander gone rogue. Prepare the drop pods! Dust 514 launching next month for PS3
?CCP Games’ upcoming massively multiplayer shooter Dust 514 is nearing completion and will be going live on May 14. The developer announced that the free-to-play PS3 exclusive will be fully integrated with New Eden, the universe of Eve Online, when it launches on PSN. As console gamers pound the ground to complete objectives and whittle away their rivals’ numbers, Eve Online players will be orbiting above, dealing with the consequences of each battle in the shared persistent universe. PC gamers will be able to lend their support in the form of helping with coordination and bombarding targets.

Pre-order Diablo III for PS3, receive XP boost with the Infernal Helm
Console owners are getting ever closer to trying Diablo III for themselves, and to help entice the curious, Blizzard has announced a new pre-order bonus. Select retailers are offering an exclusive in-game item for those who order Diablo III before its release later this year, the Infernal Helm. The enhanced helm will grant an experience boost to the wearer, helping them to topple the demonic hordes even faster.

Techland developing new action title Hellraid for consoles, PC
Techland, the studio behind Dead Island and Call of Juarez, is working on a new hack-and-slash action title that features solo and co-op play, Hellraid. The single-player campaign is centered on a story-drive campaign, while co-op play allows up to four players to battle enemies and one another for points and loot. Players can look forward to a mixed combat system that features magic, melee, and ranged attacks, as well as to customizing gear, crafting weapons, guiding character skills, and jostling for position on leaderboards.

Watch_Dogs to launch in November, gameplay trailer released
Ubisoft has revealed that their upcoming open-world action title Watch_Dogs will be released on November 19 for 360, PC, PS3, and Wii U. The PS4 version will be available at the system’s launch, and versions for other next-gen consoles are also planned. To kick off the announcement, a new gameplay trailer has been released that features protagonist Aiden Pearce in a heretofore unseen district of Chicago. Lastly, the studio also revealed a poster, posted below, with art from Alex Ross that is being given away as a pre-order bonus.

Resident Evil Revelations demo coming soon, dev diary launches
A demo for the enhanced re-release of Resident Evil Revelations will be available shortly, according to Capcom. The demo, which will launch on eShop, Live, PSN, and Steam, will feature Jill Valentine on a breach-and-rescue mission aboard the Queen Zenobia. Players will have to battle mutants and navigate the labyrinthine ship as they track down Jessica Sherawat and Chris Redfield. The first in a new weekly series of video developer diaries also launched today, with the inaugural episode focusing on the design team’s inspirations.

Deadpool to be joined by Mister Sinister and Psylocke
Some more news from Deadpool HQ. Activision has released new promo shots of two of the non-psychotic, mouthless characters that will be making an appearance in High Moon Studio’s upcoming action title. The latest announcement reveals that Deadpool will be coming face to face with the appropriately named Mister Sinister and X-Men member (among other crews) Psylocke.

New screens, multiplayer details released for Lost Planet 3
Capcom has detailed two of the four multiplayer modes slated to be included in Lost Planet 3, Akrid Survival and Scenario Mode. Akrid Survival is a team-based mode where two teams of three battle against waves of Akrid before facing off against each other in a final versus round. Scenario Mode tasks two teams with tackling offensive and defensive challenges in on-foot and vehicle-based combat. New campaign and multiplayer screens were also released and have been posted below.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II – Uprising launching May 16 for PC, PS3
PC and PS3 gamers will be able to download the latest DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Uprising, on May 16. The pack, detailed below, launched recently on Live for 360 and includes four new multiplayer maps as well as the wise-guy-themed Zombies mode Mob of the Dead.

Mind the tunnels, Metro: Last Light goes gold for consoles and PC
Post-apocalyptic first-person shooter Metro: Last Light, sequel to 2010’s Metro 2033, has gone gold for 360, PC, and PS3. Publisher Deep Silver has announced that the final version will be hitting store shelves on May 14. Gamers who pre-order before then will received a bump up to a limited edition that includes the Ranger Mode DLC, which ramps up the difficultly by removing the HUD, adding tougher enemies, and limiting the player’s resources. It’s not all bad news: the Russian AKSU rifle and 100 military-grade rounds will be added to the starting loadout.
