Deep Silver to publish Persona 5, more Atlus, Sega titles in Europe

Good news for our European readers out there—you are out there, right?—from Atlus and Sega. The studios have teamed up with Deep Silver to release several of their titles throughout Europe. The slate of games includes some heavy hitters, namely Persona 5 and Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse. Sega titles in the deal include 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. The deal is for both digital and physical releases. No dates were announced, though it was noted that 7th Dragon will be shipping after the North American release.

Becks sets out for PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U and Xbox One in Mighty No. 9

After a long road, the Mega Man-inspired action-platformer Mighty No. 9 has been released for console and PC. Developed by comcept and designed by Keiji Inafune, Mighty No. 9 follows the adventures of the robot Beck, unit No. 9 of a 10-robot squad of combat units. After a computer virus infects the others as well as the world’s machines, Beck, alongside his friend Call, must fight the now-violent bots as they track down the source.

Console versions of Minecraft get new versus mini-game, Battle

A new mini-game has launched for the console versions of Minecraft, Battle. The free update includes the mode as well as three maps, and more map packs are planned to launch in the future for $2.99 each. The last-man-standing mode has players battle for resources and weapons in booby-trapped arenas. The maps were designed specifically for consoles so that they are “super-accessible and fast-paced, made to support couch-based competition just as easily as online matchmaking.”

Call of Duty XP 2016 detailed, hands-on with Infinite Warfare, events

Activision is preparing to open ticket sales for Call of Duty XP 2016, “the biggest Call of Duty fan event in history.” Running from September 2-4 in Los Angeles, the Call of Duty World League will host the final teams for $2 million in prizes at the Call of Duty World League Championship. The event will also feature hands-on demos of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered multiplayer,and new downloadable content for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. There will also be exhibits, developer panels, a surprise musical guest, paintball in a life-sized replica of Black Ops’ Nuketown map, Zombies laser tag, and the first Call of Duty VR experience that will include piloting a Jackal. Tickets will go on sale at noon (CST) on June 11 for $49, $129, and $199. Full details are below. Persona 5 to be released February 14, special editions detailed

Persona fans can finally rest easy, Atlus has announced the release date for Persona 5. The game will launch on February 14 as two special version: a first-run SteelBook Launch Edition and as the “Take Your Heart” Premium Edition. The $89.99 premium version will come packed with goodies: a 4-inch plushie of Phantom Thieves member and unofficial mascot Morgana, Japanese-style school bag modeled after those worn by students at Shujin Academy, soundtrack CD, 64-page hardcover art book with work from character designer Shigenori Soejima (who will also be at their E3 booth), the launch edition’s SteelBook case, and a massive collector’s box. Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s Zombies map The Giant, a remake of Der Riese, is now available as a single-map purchase. The drop continues the Zombies storyline with returning characters Dempsey, Nikolai, Richtofen, and Takeo. The $5.99 download is up for current-gen consoles and PC, and was previously included as a bonus with the various premium editions (Juggernog, Hardened, and Digital Deluxe) and as part of the Season Pass. PS3 owners can also grab it for the same price as well, though Xbox 360 players will have to wait a bit longer.

Dash like a madman in new Mighty No. 9 gameplay trailer

Deep Silver has release a new gameplay trailer for Mighty No. 9. The upcoming action-platormer from Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune and developer comcept is something of a spiritual successor to the Blue Bomber and features similar combat and platforming. The video highlights a bit of this, focusing on Beck’s dash ability. The multi-purpose move can be used to reach dangerous areas, collect power-ups, and defeat weakened enemies. It’s also key in maximizing the combo multiplier, as several can be chained together to continually absorb scattered power-ups.
