Tetris Ultimate out this fall online for console and PC, retail for 3DS

Tetris, also known as The Best Game Ever, will be making its way to 3DS, PC, PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One this fall in Tetris Ultimate. Ubisoft has announced that this latest iteration will feature six modes, including a Challenge mode for solo players and seven modes for 1-4 players, such as Sprint, a race to clear 40 lines as quickly as possible; Battle Ultimate, a last-man-standing mode that will feature power-ups; and Ultra, where the goal is to score as many points as possible in three minutes. Worldwide leaderboards will also be supported.

Natural Doctrine gets new website, first batch of English screenshots

NIS has released the first set of localized screenshots from Natural Doctrine. The shots are being released alongside the launch of the official site. The fantasy-themed strategy title, the first game from Demon Gaze developer Kadokawa Game Studio, will be launching this September and support both cross-play and cross-save.

NIS has released another set of screenshots from their upcoming investigative visual novel Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. A new cast of characters are being tasked with finding out who amongst them is a murderer before they themselves are found—going by the first game—beat, burned, stabbed, or impaled. The latest shots show some of the conversations that players will be having with their ‘ultimate’ classmates.

Aksys to bring Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters to North America

Aksys took some time out of Anime Expo 2014 to reveal that they’ve secured the North American publishing rights to Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters. The visual novel follows a transfer student to Kurenai High School who joins two ghost hunters after they save him from an evil spirit he encounters while wandering the campus. The game is said to have “a strategic role-playing element” that will involve players outsmarting ghosts by clever use of special ghost-hunting items. A release date was not announced.

A new crop of screenshots from Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited has been released by NIS America. Spry Fox has announced that their rogue-like puzzler Road Not Taken is slated to launch on August 5 for PC and PS4. Players will step into the shoes of a resolute ranger who sets out into the aftermath of a winter storm in search of lost children to rescue. The story is said to change with each playthrough, as new paths are taken and relationships forged.

Aksys has shipped XBlaze Code: Embryo, a visual novel set in the BlazBlue universe, for the PS3 and PS Vita. Set 150 years before the events of BlazBlue, XBlaze follows high school student Touya Kagari as he battles wizards, psychos, and secret groups for control of the power behind creation. Players will guide Touya to one of several different endings by their choice of what information he collects. Curious gamers can try before they buy with a new demo, also on PSN.

Aksys, Arc add $30,000 to BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Evo 2014 pot

Developer Arc System Works and publisher Aksys Games have decided to up the ante for Evo 2014 with $30,000 for the BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma pot. The top U.S. player at the tournament will also be flown with a friend to Japan on Aksys’ dime so that both can compete in Arc Revolution Cup 2014 on August 30. Series creator Toshimichi Mori and Rachel Alucard’s voice actress Kana Ueda will also be on hand at Aksys’ booth to sign free posters, as will stations to practice Chrono Phantasma, try a playable demo of Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, and check out BlazBlue Battle Cards and Arcana Heart 3: Love Max!!!!!.
