Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: PS App
Sony has announced that they are prepping the next update for PS4. Update version 2.50, codenamed Yukimura, is scheduled to go live on March 26 and is set to add a number of features. Some of the additions include Suspend/Resume, allowing players to pause their game by putting the system into Rest Mode and resuming by pressing the PlayStation button on the controller; the ability to back-up data onto an external USB drive, such as game saves, settings, screenshots, patches, and video clips; and improved accessibility options, with functions to zoom, and invert colors along with enlarged text and text-to-speech for the interface, apps, and browser. The new visibility options will not apply to games or third-party apps, though they will be added to PS Vita and mobile devices via PS App in their own respective updates whenever Yukimura is released.
Sony will be releasing new updates tomorrow for PS4, PS App, and PS Vita. The latter updates are largely for improving integration with the PS4, which will itself be receiving a host of new features and long-awaited improvements. A breakdown of each is available below, but PS4 gamers can now look forward to being able to capture gameplay on external devices, edit gameplay footage on the system itself, download pre-ordered games in advance, use voice commands with PS Camera, and easier, improved sorting options for Friends and Trophies.
