New Silence trailer released, closed beta registration opens for PC

Daedalic has released a new trailer for their upcoming adventure title Silence. The studio also announced that a closed beta is scheduled on July 8 for the PC version. Anyone interested can head here to fill out the sign-up form. Everyone selected will receive a credit in the game as well as a free copy of the final version.

GOG.com kicks off 2015 DRM-Free Summer Sale

GOG.com is jumping the gun on summer by launching their 2015 DRM-Free Summer Sale today. The event will include free games, daily bundles, giveaways, and themed discounts. This year, the service will be offering rewards for games purchased, and buyers have the chance to score three free games. Everyone who spends at least $1 will receive a free copy of SimCity 2000, while $20 nets a free copy of Stalker: Clear Sky and $50 a free copy of Xenonauts. The offer runs for the duration of the sale, which is set to end on June 21. New deals will appear every 12 hours, which will add up to over 700 games. Today’s highlighted deals are bundle discounts for LucasArts adventure titles, D&D enhanced editions, Heroes of Might and Magic series, and the first two Stalker releases.

Outlaws, Loom, The Dig, and more from LucasArts added to GOG.com

Another batch of LucasArts titles has been added to GOG.com’s library. Six games are included in the latest set, three of which are making their digital distribution debut: the action-platformer Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb, first-person shooter Outlaws (plus A Handful of Missions expansion), and point-and-click adventure Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders. The remaining games, each 20% off as part of a launch promo, are all adventure titles: Loom, Monkey Island: LeChuck’s Revenge, and The Dig.

Square Enix Collective offering Anachronox, Fear Effect, and Gex IPs

Square Enix is offering three Eidos IPs for independent developers to try their hand at through the studio’s Collective platform. Anachronox, Fear Effect, and Gex are all on offer for developers to submit game ideas, and new project pitch submissions have also been reopened. A previous submission, Goetia, a point-and-click adventure from French developer Sushee, recently passed its Kickstarter goal with 48 hours to go. According to the release, it was the latest campaign’s success that inspired them to open up the Eidos IPs.

GOG.com adds bizarre FMV-infused adventure Toonstruck

GOG.com has added the surreal point-and-click adventure title Toonstruck to their library. The 1996 adventure title from Interplay follows cartoonist Drew Blanc as he attempts to escape a strange cartoon world populated by a wide variety of weird creatures—ah, the ‘90s. The game also features digitized actors, and a handful of notables are involved, including The Simpson’s Dan Castellaneta, Christopher Lloyd, and Tim Curry, also star of Interplay’s Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster.

Daedalic Entertainment will be bringing their upcoming adventure title Silence to PS4. The game follows Noah, a boy who becomes stranded in the war-torn lands of Silence after tracking down his sister. After finding her in the company of a resistance movement, he joins the rebels in an effort to stop the seekers from taking over the land, and to eventually make his way back home. Silence was announced for PC and Xbox One last October.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 release date, Almanac Edition revealed

The Book of Unwritten Tales developer King Art Games has announced that the sequel’s final chapter will now be released on February 20. The studio also revealed a special version, the DRM-free Almanac Edition. The premium set will come bundled with a 104-page hardback artbook, a making-of DVD, a soundtrack, a double-sided poster, and the Color Your Critter DLC, which will allow players to choose the color of Nate’s sidekick. And to store everything, the set will be packed inside of box designed to look like a hardcover book.

Nordic Games to release Double Fine’s Broken Age in retail

A retail boxed version of Broken Age will be hitting store shelves next spring, courtesy of Nordic Games. The publisher announced that they have struck a deal with developer Double Fine Productions, with versions slated for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. The graphic adventure will join other Double Fine-developed titles published for retail by Nordic, including Costume Quest, Psychonauts and Stacking.

PlayStation Experience 2014 Highlights – Suikoden II, Street Fighter V

Some big news came out today from Sony’s PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas. The biggest of which is arguably the reveal and announcement of console exclusivity of Street Fighter V. Sony and Capcom have partnered up to release it for PS4, and to make it cross-platform compatible with PC. To keep gamers occupied until then, Capcom is also releasing Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4. Another surprise came out of Konami, who announced that the highly acclaimed Suikoden I and II will be available on PSN for PS3 and PS Vita next week, on December 9. Sega wasn’t to be outdone, however, with the reveal that Yakuza 5 will be a downloadable release for PS3 in 2015, nor Atlus, who gave Persona fans more to look forward to in 2015 the news that Persona 5 will be available for PS3 and PS4.
