GOG.com gets into early access with Games in Development

GOG.com has kicked off a new curated pre-order program, similar to Steam Early Access and Xbox’s Game Program, called Games in Development. They will be offering select, in-development titles that they deem promising. The titles will come with a 14-day refund, be DRM-free, and implement GOG Galaxy’s rollback feature. Five titles have been chosen to begin the program and discounted up to 40% off: Ashes of the Singularity, Curious Expeditions, Project Zomboid, Starbound, and TerraTech. The discounts will end on February 2.

Capcom has released new info about the physical edition of Mega Man Legacy Collection. Scheduled to launch on February 23, the 3DS version will be available as a $29.99 standard version and a $49.99 collector’s edition, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions will run $29.99. The handheld version will feature over 100 new art and history pieces in the Museum; also, owners of the original Mega Man amiibo will be able to unlock exclusive remix challenges. On the subject of amiibos, the collector’s edition will include not only the standard version’s two 3DS themes, 18-song compilation soundtrack, and 4 stickers, but also 6 post cards and an exclusive gold-colored Mega Man amiibo. PS4 and Xbox One owners will also receive the compilation soundtrack and stickers, plus a Robot Master cheat sheet.

3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Genesis, Master System themes out now

Sonic returns to Sega’s 3D Classics line today in 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The $5.99 re-release brings back one of the franchise’s most influential entries, with the debut of Tails, Super Sonic, the popular Casino-themed levels, and the special half-pipe bonus stages. For details about the port, an interview with Sega producer Yosuke Okunari and M2 president Naoki Horii discussing its development has been posted over at Sega’s blog. A new series of system-specific themes for 3DS have also been announced, with the first two, based on the Genesis and the Game Gear (each $1.99), already available on eShop. Next up, in order of release, are the Sega Master System, Sega Mark III, Sega Saturn, Hi-Tech SegA, Sega SG-1000, and Sega Dreamcast.

The upcoming Mega Man compilation, Mega Man Legacy Collection, has been officially dated for August 25. Save for the 3DS version, that is, which is slated for an early 2016 release. Gamers who prefer physical copies should be glad to hear that Capcom plans on releasing the 3DS, PS4, and Xbox One versions in stores early next year as well. Boxed copies will cost a bit more, however, running $29.99 instead of $14.99. Details about the 3DS and physical versions should be coming along in the near future. Atlus has released an updated version of Abyss Odyssey for PS4, the Extended Dream Edition. The original release of the 2D action platformer is already available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and now next-gen owners—well, current-gen—will get the chance to experience the lovely, challenging adventure in 1080p. In addition to graphical improvements, the game features all updates released for PC, which includes expanded move lists and multiplayer support for two players locally and four players online in duel mode.
