NIS has released a new puzzle-action hybrid for PS Vita, htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary. The uniquely named title is also an original property from NIS, which tasks players with controlling two fairies via the touchscreen and rear touch pad through monster-filled labyrinths. The two fairies, one representing light and the other dark, find a slumbering girl named Mion and use their powers to help her through the dungeon as she slowly regains her memories.

Sunset Overdrive gets scavenger hunt for Valentine’s Day

A special Valentine’s Day-themed Achievement and costume has been added to Sunset Overdrive. The set is inspired by game director Drew Murray’s daughter, Ainsley, whose drawings are scattered throughout the game world. By finding and interacting with all 12 pieces of art, players will earn the 175-point ‘D’awwwwww’ Achievement along with a custom outfit. Insomniac has created a series of videos to help players track them all down.

Grow Home finds its way onto Steam for Windows PC

Ubisoft has released a new platformer for PC, Grow Home. Developed by Reflections, Grow Home has players take on the role of BUD, a Botanical Utility Droid, as he explores a series of islands filled with caves and waterfalls in search of a plant that can create oxygen on his home world. BUD must use a growing Star Plant to mold the planet and create new ways to ascend towards the sky. Insomniac adds three new challenges to Sunset Overdrive

Insomniac Games has added new challenges to their open-world action-platformer shooter Sunset Overdrive. The three new Buck National challenges involve clearing 600,000 in Buck’s National vs The Apocalypse, 564,500 in Buck’s Strikes Back, and 703,700 in Buck’s Stops Here. Each challenge also has an accompanying new Achievement. For those looking to pick it up, Microsoft announced that they are currently running a promo for Sunset Overdrive, knocking the price down 40% on the Xbox Game Store.

Summon the Mothership! Funk of Titans now on Live for Xbox One

A Crowd of Monsters’ funk-themed side-scrolling platformer Funk of Titans has launched for Xbox One. As Perseus, players must help Zeus in his war against the Music Titans by defeating them using funk-fu. Taking the titans down will require battling through over 40 levels set in three different worlds, each themed after a different genre of music, pop, rap, and rock. Time to slap the bass (and some monsters).

A new expansion pack has launched for Sunset Overdrive. The $9.99 add-on, The Mystery of the Mooil Rig, features a host of new content: story missions, side quests, challenges, Chaos Squad missions, two amps, two vanity items, and two weapons. Plus, there is also a new trap, boss, and Night Defense base mission. But the most significant addition is the expansion of the player’s water-based move list, which now includes diving and jumping, as several of the latest missions take place not just above but also below water.

PlayStation Experience 2014 Highlights – Suikoden II, Street Fighter V

Some big news came out today from Sony’s PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas. The biggest of which is arguably the reveal and announcement of console exclusivity of Street Fighter V. Sony and Capcom have partnered up to release it for PS4, and to make it cross-platform compatible with PC. To keep gamers occupied until then, Capcom is also releasing Ultra Street Fighter IV for PS4. Another surprise came out of Konami, who announced that the highly acclaimed Suikoden I and II will be available on PSN for PS3 and PS Vita next week, on December 9. Sega wasn’t to be outdone, however, with the reveal that Yakuza 5 will be a downloadable release for PS3 in 2015, nor Atlus, who gave Persona fans more to look forward to in 2015 the news that Persona 5 will be available for PS3 and PS4.

Sunset Overdrive weapon DLC released, voting and MP perks detailed

Insomniac Games has announced several new items for Sunset Overdrive, including new weapons, events, and item boosts. The first weapon pack launched today for $4.99, which includes the Plague Bomb, which causes vomiting to the point of exploding; the Rager, for creating a cloud that confuses and enrages enemies to the point where they attack one another; Shield Buddy, a bomb-deploying shield; and the Multi-Lock Rocket Launcher for targeting up to eight enemies at once. Demonstrations of each can be seen in an archived livestream.

Xbox One celebrates first year with 24 hours of free Sunset Overdrive

Microsoft will be celebrating the Xbox One’s one-year anniversary with a 24-hour free-play session of Sunset Overdrive. Beginning tomorrow, Xbox One owners who have a membership to Xbox Live Gold will be able to play Sunset Overdrive for free until 11:01 p.m. (CST) on Saturday, 12:01 a.m. (EST). On November 22, Insomniac will be fielding their own multiplayer team to go against all takers on Monday at noon (CST) as well as show off some new weapons on the official Xbox Twitch channel. Microsoft will also be giving away gifts, including background images and free rentals, as well as prizes; the full list of all the goodies can be found here.

LittleBigPlanet 3 launches in stores, online for PS3 and PS4

Sackboy is making his next-gen debut today with the release of LittleBigPlanet 3 for PS3 and PS4. Co-developed by Sumo Digital and Sony XDev Europe, the latest in the creation-centric platformer series introduces three new characters, OddSock, Swoop, and Toggle, as well as new items and triggers to utilize in Create mode. Additionally, the 9-million-plus user-created levels already available for the series are also playable. PS4 owners have access to a few new system-specific features as well, including support for the Dualshock 4’s touchpad, the ability to livestream, and access to items that can be interacted with and triggered by the livestreaming audience. In the new story, players must guide Sackboy and his friends, alone or with up to four players in local or online co-op, on his quest to restore balance to Bunkum.
