Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition launching on April 27

Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition is set to launch for Windows 10 on April 27. The Definitive Edition of Moon Studios’ fantastic action-platformer will feature new areas, gameplay upgrades, and difficulty options. Players who own the Xbox One version will be able to grab an upgrade for $4.99 to access the new content, as well as have their saves and progress sync with the PC version. Newcomers will be able to download the Definitive Edition through Live and Steam for $19.99.

Axiom Verge in development for Xbox One, Wii U, releasing this year

Developer Tom Happ will be bringing his throwback action-platformer Axiom Verge to Wii U and Xbox One. Currently available for PC and PS4, the Metroid-style adventure features over 40 weapons and tools, nearly 100 upgrades, 80-plus creatures, and nearly a thousand rooms to explore. Players can also utilize glitches to gain an advantage by corrupting environments, scrambling enemies, and uncovering secret areas.

Physical version of Mega Man Legacy Collection out now

Capcom has released the physical copy of the previously digital-only Mega Man Legacy Collection for 3DS, PS4, and Xbox One. The 3DS version is also available in a Collector’s Edition that comes bundled with a gold-colored Mega Man amiibo, which unlocks 11 new remix challenges, and postcards. All versions include the first six Mega Man games as well as several unlockable extras, including Challenge Mode and Museum Mode.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst closed beta announced, trailer released

EA has released a new trailer from their upcoming parkour-heavy platformer Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. The video features the return of Faith, the introduction of some new characters, and a little gameplay, both free running and combat. A closed beta was also announced, though no date has been set. They will be offering select, in-development titles that they deem promising. The titles will come with a 14-day refund, be DRM-free, and implement GOG Galaxy’s rollback feature. Five titles have been chosen to begin the program and discounted up to 40% off: Ashes of the Singularity, Curious Expeditions, Project Zomboid, Starbound, and TerraTech. The discounts will end on February 2.

Mega Man Legacy Collection physical editions detailed, dated

Capcom has released new info about the physical edition of Mega Man Legacy Collection. Scheduled to launch on February 23, the 3DS version will be available as a $29.99 standard version and a $49.99 collector’s edition, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions will run $29.99. The handheld version will feature over 100 new art and history pieces in the Museum; also, owners of the original Mega Man amiibo will be able to unlock exclusive remix challenges. On the subject of amiibos, the collector’s edition will include not only the standard version’s two 3DS themes, 18-song compilation soundtrack, and 4 stickers, but also 6 post cards and an exclusive gold-colored Mega Man amiibo. PS4 and Xbox One owners will also receive the compilation soundtrack and stickers, plus a Robot Master cheat sheet.

3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Genesis, Master System themes out now

Sonic returns to Sega’s 3D Classics line today in 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The $5.99 re-release brings back one of the franchise’s most influential entries, with the debut of Tails, Super Sonic, the popular Casino-themed levels, and the special half-pipe bonus stages. For details about the port, an interview with Sega producer Yosuke Okunari and M2 president Naoki Horii discussing its development has been posted over at Sega’s blog. A new series of system-specific themes for 3DS have also been announced, with the first two, based on the Genesis and the Game Gear (each $1.99), already available on eShop. Next up, in order of release, are the Sega Master System, Sega Mark III, Sega Saturn, Hi-Tech SegA, Sega SG-1000, and Sega Dreamcast.

The set includes the first six Mega Man games, a new Challenge Mode that offers remixed segments from all games with scaling difficulty along with leaderboard support, and a Museum with hundreds of unlockables. The unlockable content includes songs, concept sketches, production art, and unused designs. As a reminder to fans of physical media, this download-only release will be joined by a $29.99 boxed copy early next year for 3DS, PS4, and Xbox One.
