Bandai Namco has announced that they are working with FromSoftware to allow gamers to migrate Dark Souls: Prepare to Die, along with its saves and achievements, from Games for Windows Live to Steam. The process has already begun, but the migration period will not being until November. Full details are below, but gamers can start by heading to Xbox Support to learn about how they can get the Token that is required to activate their copy on Steam. Save data and Achievements will be transferable during a specific period, but tokens can still be redeemed after the period ends.

Crown of the Old Iron King, the second part in Dark Soul II’s The Lost Crowns downloadable three-part mini-campaign, is now available. The add-on is available for 360, PC, and PS3, supplementing the original game with new enemies, bosses, gear, and locations. Unlike its grim subterranean predecessor, Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old King takes place in the same type of lave-filled and ash-strewn environment as the foreboding Iron Keep from the original game. Dark Souls II now out for 360 and PS3, break out the stress balls

The 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Dark Souls II are now in stores. The famed tough-as-nails action-RPG series, which began in 2010 with the Atlus-published Demon’s Souls, returns with the same controller-gripping difficult, integrated multiplayer, and grim atmosphere that has made it such a hit. Series creator FromSoftware continues their role at the helm, adding to the sequel “improved visuals, life-like animations and dynamic lighting” while retaining “the game’s core tenants to provide challenging gameplay and deliver true emotional elation from each hard-fought victory.”

Dark Souls II launching for PC on April 25, screenshots released

Namco Bandai has handed PC gamers their marching orders to be suited up to take down Dark Souls II on April 25. The PC version can be pre-ordered today from Amazon, ClubNamco, Steam, and GameStop as either a standard edition or as a collector’s edition, though the latter isn’t available through Steam. Pre-ordering will allow access to the Black Armor Weapons Pack, detailed below, as well as a digital artbook, a download of the soundtrack, and a digital comic book. Additionally, the computer version will feature higher texture resolution and increased framerates, plus support for gamepads.

Namco Bandai has announced that gamers who pre-order Black Souls II Black Armor Edition or the Collector’s Edition will receive a voucher for the Black Armor Weapons Pack. The set, detailed below, includes five weapon and shield sets, with kit ranging from maces to daggers, such as the Yellow Quartz Longsword and Yellow Quartz Shield and the Transgressor’s Staff and Transgressor’s Leather Shield. Covenant combat revealed in new Dark Souls II screenshots

A dozen new screenshots from Dark Souls II have been posted showing off the Covenant system. As a member of a covenant, players will be able to receive assistance from others against invading players (Way of Blue), automatically summon assistance from others (Blue Sentinels), offer sacrifice to the god of war Nahr Alma by invading other players’ worlds (Brotherhood of Blood), worship the sun by assisting others (Heirs to the Sun), and guard those bonded together (Bell Keepers). More covenants will be announced closer to launch.
