The next entry in the Disgaea series is getting the first run premium treatment with a host of extras set to ship with pre-order and launch copies of Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness. Set to hit store shelves on October 8, the PS3-exclusive strategy-RPG will include three bonuses for early buyers: a two-disc sountrack, a graphic print, and a costume DLC pack for the three main characters (Laharl, Etna, and Flonne). The costume pack is actually a freebie for everyone, and will be available to download at no cost for the first 30 days from launch. Some new screens were also released, so check them out below.

Time and Eternity launches on PSN, now on store shelves

Imageepoch’s hand-drawn role-playing Time and Eternity is now available for PS3. The NIS-published release begins as a couple is attacked on their wedding day. During the surprise assault, the bride’s alter ego emerges, causing the two to go back in time on a quest to ensure that the murder never takes place. Players must travel the lands of Kamza in search of the future murderers, using swords, firearms, and the powers of time itself to battle monsters and assassins along the way.

Disgaea, NIS’ long-running strategy-RPG series, will be returning this fall when Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness launches on October 8 for PS3. A Brighter Darkness will be celebrating 20 years of NIS and 10 years of Disgaea by bringing back Etna, Flonne, and Laharl from the first game in a new storyline about a disgruntled and disrespected Overlord. The Item World, Master/Pupil System, and the Geo elements will be returning, as well as a revamped character-creation system.

NIS has announced another title bound for PS Vita in 2014, DanganRonpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Originally released in 2010 for PSP, the investigative mystery title put players in Hope’s Peak Academy, a prestigious school turned into a violent prison. As Makoto Naegi, players must discover the identity of a murderous bear named Monokuma, who has trapped the students and promised freedom to those who can murder a classmate without getting caught. Monokuma serves as the judge and jury in mock trials in which Makato must confront students with the evidence he gathered to discover the guilty party behind the latest murder.

NIS bringing Demon Gaze to North America in 2014

NIS will be bringing some dungeon-crawling action to the PS Vita next year with Demon Gaze. The Experience, Inc.-developed title will feature the journey of Oz, a young adventurer who awakes to find himself in the cursed, labyrinth-filled land of Misred. Setting out in this strange new land, Oz must track down artifacts, recruit allies, and uncover (sweet) loot in an RPG sporting five different races, eight classes, and subclass support.

Former NIS America staff form new publisher, acttil

Three NIS America alumni have formed a new publishing company, acttil. The studio, founded by Jack Niida, Hiroko Kanazashi, and Nao Miyazawa, will offer an array of services to both established and indie studios, including localization, package and advertisement design, editing, monetization strategy development, and sales plan development. At the moment, acttil plans to deliver titles for PC, current and next-gen consoles, mobile platforms, the web, and eReaders.

The hand-drawn role-playing game, set to launch this summer, tasks players with going back in time to stop their fiance’s murder. After being attacked on her wedding day, the bride’s aggressive alter ego appears and joins in the fight to ensure that her history doesn’t repeat itself. The latest shots show some more of the combat, a little character interaction, and world navigation.
