Atlus has announced the release of the latest in long-running, ever-expanding Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei IV. As a samurai of the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado, players must take up their blade (and gun) and investigate the recent outbreak of demon attacks. During their journey, countless demons will be fused, summoned, and crushed. For those wanting some extras, all launch copies come in a limited set that includes a slip cover, a 176-page strategy and design book, and a music CD with tracks from throughout the series.

Buy Fire Emblem, Shin Megami Tensei IV, receive $30 in eShop credit

Atlus and Nintendo are teaming up to give owners of Fire Emblem Awakening and Shin Megami Tensei IV a special bonus: $30 in eShop credit. The only things owners need to do after purchasing both titles is register them at Club Nintendo and fill out a short web survey before August 31. The credit can be spent on anything, from DLC to full games. The promo kicks off when SMTIV launches on July 16, and both physical and digital copies are eligible for the credit.

Worlds collide today with release of Project X Zone for 3DS

Namco Bandai has released Project X Zone, a cross-over strategy-RPG exploding with fan service. After a rift tears open the borders between time and space, 200 characters from over 25 franchises from Capcom, Namco Bandai, and Sega find themselves teaming up and battling new villains in an attempt to restore order. Characters from Street Fighter, Tekken, Resonance of Fate, Dead Rising, Mega Man, Resident Evil, Virtua Fighter, and more will pair off and assist each other with such fighter-styled moves as Cross Hits, Support Attacks, and Special Attacks.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara now on PSN and Steam

The quarter-destroying duo of Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Shadow over Mystara have been brought back from the past with the release of Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara today for PC and PS3 and tomorrow for 360. The Iron Galaxy-developed double pack features both beat ‘em ups and a host of extras, including unlockable concept art, new House Rules customization options, and four-player local and online multiplayer support with drop-in/drop-out play. Players will select one classic D&D class, from the deadly warrior to the powerful mage, and go on an adventure that features branching paths, a lite RPG-style leveling system, and a new dynamic Challenge system.

Zen Pinball 2 launches on eShop for Wii U

Zen Pinball 2 is now available to download from the eShop for Wii U. The free download includes trials for each of the launch tables, as well as the ability unlock the full versions of current and future tables. Pinballers will be able to play on the GamePad with direct play, challenge others locally via splitscreen or hotseat modes, and compete in various challenges for placement in a national ranking system as well as in global tournaments. Several tables are currently available, incuding three Marvel table packs, the three-table Classic pack, and a handful of singles, including Epic Quest and Plants vs. Zombies.

Word from Capcom HQ is that there are some monsters that need to be hunted. And then skinned, deboned, and made into vests and other accoutrement. Fans looking to get back into action will be able to do some from their living room or on the go, as both the 3DS and Wii U versions of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate are now available in stores and through eShop. Owners of Tri looking to upgrade will find 38 new monsters, new stages, thousands of new pieces of equipment, and hundreds of new quests.

Zen Studios’s pinball platform Zen Pinball 2 will be available next week on eShop for Wii U. Castlevania returns to the world of handheld gaming today with the release of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate for 3DS. Developed by Mercury Steam, Mirrors of Fate takes place 25 years after Lords of Shadow but before Lords of Shadow 2. The story follows Trevor Belmont, now a knight of the Brotherhood of Light, as he seeks to avenge the death of his mother by tracking down her killer, his own father. But his father is not the same Gabriel as he was in Lords of Shadow. After years in exile, he has returned as a powerful vampire known as Dracula.

A post-launch update has been announced for the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
