The Langrisser series returns today with the release of Langrisser Re:Incarnation -Tensei- for 3DS. The latest entry in the long-running tactical role-playing series was developed in conjunction with creators Masaya Games and released digitally and physically by Aksys. It’s been 15 years since the last release, and players are once again being summoned to a land at war as three factions vie for control. A branching path will open new storylines based on the player’s decisions, as they serve the Armies of Light, Forces of Darkness, or the Empire in a campaign estimated to last over 100 hours.

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse arriving this summer for 3DS

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse, released in Japan as Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final in Japan (changed so that we “understand the game’s epic nature”), has been officially announced for North America. The storyline intersects with the events of 2013’s Shin Megami Tensei IV, and has a few of the same characters, but Atlus notes that no experience with the original is required. Instead of being based on the previous protagonists, Apocalypse is centered on the humans that live within what’s left of Tokyo. As a recently deceased Hunter, players find themselves resurrected after swearing allegiance to the god Dagda. Two paths are open to progress, either anarchy or peace, as Dagda schemes against other gods. Demon fusion returns, and there are plenty to fuse too, as the game features over 450 of them. Fusion is further augmented by skill affinities. In addition to their three demon companions, players are also joined by one of seven partners. Look for Apocalypse this summer.

Axiom Verge in development for Xbox One, Wii U, releasing this year

Developer Tom Happ will be bringing his throwback action-platformer Axiom Verge to Wii U and Xbox One. Currently available for PC and PS4, the Metroid-style adventure features over 40 weapons and tools, nearly 100 upgrades, 80-plus creatures, and nearly a thousand rooms to explore. Players can also utilize glitches to gain an advantage by corrupting environments, scrambling enemies, and uncovering secret areas.

Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus coming soon to PS4, Wii U

Aksys Games will be releasing a console version of LookAtMyGame’s PC action role-playing game Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus. The 2D side-scroller tasks players with saving the lands of Exidus by clearing out four monster- and puzzle-filled realms. As players progress, they will gain new skills, discover extra quests, and uncover runes that allow them to talk with both villagers and monsters. Console gamers can look for it to hit eShop and PSN later this month.

Action-RPG Sadame now available on eShop for 3DS

Mebius’ action role-playing game Sadame has been released for 3DS. Published by Rising Star Japan, the $14.99 digital release features a tale of four heroes battling their way through over 20 bosses and hordes of enemies during the Senhoku period of Japan. Four classes—Monk, Ninja, Rogue, and Samurai—are represented, and each has their own skill trees, abilities, encounters, and events. Armor and weapons can be shared between characters, and weapons can be upgraded. StreetPass functionality allows other player’s characters to join in and assist with the quest.

Physical version of Mega Man Legacy Collection out now

Capcom has released the physical copy of the previously digital-only Mega Man Legacy Collection for 3DS, PS4, and Xbox One. The 3DS version is also available in a Collector’s Edition that comes bundled with a gold-colored Mega Man amiibo, which unlocks 11 new remix challenges, and postcards. All versions include the first six Mega Man games as well as several unlockable extras, including Challenge Mode and Museum Mode.

Meet the Samurai from Rising Star’s upcoming action-RPG Sadame

Rising Star has released a new trailer highlighting the Samurai from their upcoming 3DS action-RPG Sadame. The Samurai is one of four characters tasked with taking down invading evil hordes. He takes on the role of the group’s tank, capable of absorbing large amounts of damage while also dealing heavy damage in one-on-one combat with a single sword or to groups by dual wielding. As with the other characters, the Samurai will have access to class-specific items and upgrades.

Sega has announced a retro-themed pre-order bonus for Sega 3D Classics Collection. Early buyers will receive a nine-sticker decal sheet when they pick up the compilation. The set of silver-hued stickers will include a Master System logo and console, a Mega Drive logo, a Genesis logo and console, a 16-Bit logo, a GigaDrive logo, a Professor Asobin, and of course, a Sega logo.

Final Fantasy’s latest handheld adventure, Final Fantasy Explorers, hits stores and digital outlets today for 3DS. The action-heavy role-playing game features over 200 quests that can be tackled solo or online with up to three other players. As players seek the Grand Crystal in the midst of an energy crisis, they will have to face 12 eidolons, but to do so, they can access 20-plus customizable jobs and transform into such series legends as Cloud, Squall, and Tifa.

Sega 3D Classics Collection coming stateside this April for 3DS

Sega will be bringing the 3DS compilation Sega 3D Classics Collection to North America. Scheduled to launch digitally and physically on April 26, the bundle will include nine games ported over to the system by the current retro-updating standard-bearers M2. The games will include titles from both the Genesis and Master System: Power Drift, Puyo Puyo 2, Maze Walker, Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa, Fantasy Zone II W, Sonic The Hedgehog, Thunder Blade, Galaxy Force II, and Altered Beast. Five of the titles are already available through eShop but four are new to the system. Details for each are available below.
