Arsenal of Elegant Destruction highlights Nier: Automata’s combat

Nier: Automata’s combat system is highlighted in a new gameplay trailer. With the game nearing its release date, Square Enix is showing off the weapon-based combat system in a new video from co-developer PlatinumGames, Arsenal of Elegant Destruction. Included is a demonstration of the game’s combo-extension mechanic that allows players to alternate between four weapon types on the fly, including bracers, spears, and swords.

Combat highlighted in new Nier: Automata trailer

Square Enix has given an expanded look at Nier: Automata. The trailer, titled Glory to Mankind 119450310, finds players in the year 11945 during the 14th Machine War. A squad of androids battle machine lifeforms over a post-apocalyptic landscape in order to secure the world for the remaining humans. Players can try their hand at the game with the recently released PS4 demo on PSN.

Nier: Automata demo now available on PSN for PS4

Players can now try a portion of Nier: Automata. Co-developed with Platinum Games, the action role-playing game finds combat android 2B on a mission to destroy a weapon stored inside a large facility. The demo can be downloaded off of PSN. A trailer was also released highlighting Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy XV collaborations with 2B equipping Noctis’ Engine Blade and the Cypress Stick from Dragon Quest.

Nier: Automata to get playable demo for PS4 on December 22

Players who have been waiting for the long-awaited follow-up to Nier, Nier: Automata, will be able to try it themselves on December 22. Square Enix has announced that a playable demo will be going live that finds the attack android 2B searching an abandoned factory for a weapon that she needs to destroy. There was no word on a possible PC demo.

Nier: Automata to launch simultaneously in 2017 for PC via Steam

Square Enix has announced that their upcoming action role-playing game Nier: Automata will be released for PC. The computer version is slated to launch on Steam alongside the PS4 version in early 2017. A batch of new screens were also released, and can be found down below. In Automata, players will follow the droids 2B, 9S, and A2 as they attempt to free future-Earth from alien ‘machine lifeforms’ that have forced mankind to the moon. 2B is a sword-wielding battle droid built for the infantry squad YoRHa, and the main character, but she is backed by a Pod support system offering options for long-range combat.

Nier: Automata to launch in early 2017, gets new E3 trailer

During E3, Square Enix released a new trailer for Nier: Automata alongside news that it will be launching in early 2017. Currently in co-development with Platinum Games, Automata will take place in the far future after alien ‘machine lifeforms’ have overrun the world, forcing mankind to escape to the moon. Players will follow the androids 2B, 9S, and A2 in their quest to destroy the machines. 2B is the main character, a sword-wielding battle droid built for the infantry squad YoRHa that is backed by a Pod support system for long-range combat. Nier: Automata officially named, trailer and screenshots released

Square Enix has announced that the untitled Nier project revealed during E3 has been officially titled Nier: Automata. A new trailer and batch of screenshots were released from the title’s recent presentation at Paris Games Week. The collaboration with PlatinumGames will put players in the role of 2B, a battle android with the YoRHa automated infantry squad. Her assignment is to defeat an army of machines that have forced humanity to flee Earth and seek shelter on the moon. To accomplish her mission, she has access to a sword for close-range combat and a Pod support system to battle ranged enemies. As she progresses, the truth about the origins of the struggle will be revealed.

E3 2015: Square Enix – Nier, Star Ocean, Final Fantasy

To a few (dignified) squeals from the staff, Square Enix announced that Nier is returning for PS4. The working title is Nier New Project, and as with the previous titles in the universe, including the Drakengard series, the game will be an action-heavy role-playing game. Only this time, PlatinumGames will be assisting by “amplifying the action-oriented combat and building a beautifully diverse visual experience that will fully harness the graphical power of the PlayStation 4 system.”

Drakengard 3 gets final batch of DLC, contest announced

The last round of downloadable content has launched for Drakengard 3. Over six weapon and outfit packs as well as a prologue and a theme pack are now available on PSN, and each is detailed below. Several of the packs were pre-order bonuses or are from the Collector’s Edition, including three alternate color schemes for Zero, an outfit based off of Caim’s from Nier, a costume based from Nier’s outfit in the Japan-only Nier Replicant, and even a Giant Baby head for Mikhail styled after the bizarre creatures in the first Drakengard. One’s Prologue, formerly a CE exclusive, is also available, which helps to flesh out backstory behind all the bloody mayhem.

Drakengard 3 costume, music, and mission DLC packs released

Drakengard 3 received several downloadable packs today, adding new missions, music, and costumes. Fans of the original will be able to reduce damage taken by 5% in Furiae’s Garb for $2.99, while fans of Drakengard 2 can reduce stamina loss by sporting the Eris’s Garb pack for $2.99. A music pack for $1.99, the Intoner Arrange Tracks, replaces the tunes played while Zero is in Intoner Mode. The biggest additions are the five Sister Prologues. Each $5.99 chapter (Zero, Two, Three, Four, and Five) includes a playable level and unique weapons, while a $29.99 bundle includes all five plus a bonus prologue for One.
