Puyo Puyo Tetris bringing puzzle crossover fury to PS4, Switch

Sega has announced the crossover puzzler Puyo Puyo Tetris. The fast-paced, four-player title will feature a ten-stage Adventure mode, Puzzle League, and Arcade with five modes (Versus, Swap, Fusion, Big Bang, and Party) for single and online multiplayer. An in-game shop also allows players to unlock characters and skins for both Puyos and Tetriminos. The game is scheduled to release this spring for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, the latter of which will also be available as a special launch edition.

The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ announced for Switch launch

Nicalis will be bringing The Binding of Isaac to Nintendo Switch this spring. Described as the “definitive edition,” The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ will be bringing its rogue-like twin-stick shooting action digitally and physically to players at the system’s release. The game features randomly generated dungeons, 500-plus items and weapons, more than 50 bosses, 30 challenge modes, and over 6,000 rooms. Completionists can also shoot for unlocking 20 different endings.

A Rose in the Twilight scheduled to launch in April for PC, PS Vita

NIS has revealed that their upcoming puzzle-platformer title from htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary developer Masayuki Furuya, A Rose in the Twilight, will be released this April. PC and PS Vita owners will be able to snag the title on April 11 as a standard edition and as a limited edition, the latter being exclusive to NIS’ online store. Four new screens were also posted below that show more of Rose and her giant companion’s quest to escape a mysterious castle.

Halo War 2 Blitz multiplayer kicking off Jan. 20, dev letter released

Halo War 2’s ‘Blitz’ multiplayer beta has been officially dated for January 20. To get players up to speed, the developers have released a letter on what they can expect during the period. Blitz is a card-based mode, and both PC and Xbox One players will get a chance to try it early. Player’s decks are described as one of their greatest resources, as they build them with cards based on air, ground, and ground units. None of the cards earned will carry over to the final game, but reward cards will be given to participants as a thank-you for their time. Head down for the letter to get all of the details.

Final Fantasy XV sells over 6 million, carnival event kicking off Jan. 24

Final Fantasy XV has sold over six million units, according to Square Enix. The figure includes copies sold at retail and through digital outlets. Five of the six million were sold on launch day. Post-release downloadable content has also gone live to expand the base game, with two drops on offer: the free Holiday Pack and for-pay Holiday Pack+. Downloading either pack will allow players to access a special upcoming in-game event, the Moogle Chocobo Carnival, beginning Tuesday, January 24.

Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours – Eighting DLC to launch on Jan. 18

Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours’ fifth downloadable bundle, based off of several of Eighting’s titles, is slated to launch on January 18. The three included packs feature a new ship, three stages, and new music each, with designs from Battle Garegga, Mahoudaisakusen, and Soukyuugurentai (Terra Diver). Ten arranged stages are also bundled, along with three boss fights and 10 stages for CS mode in CS Pack 3. The packs can be purchased individually for $4.99 or as a bundle for $11.97. Note that DLC ships can only be used in DLC levels.

Double Dragon IV launching digitally for PC, PS4 next month

Arc System Works has announced that they will be releasing Double Dragon IV for PC and PS4. The beat ‘em up will be a download-only entry with retro-style graphics, combos, and support for up to two players offline. Brawler fans can download it on January 29 on PSN and January 31 on Steam, and can look forward to Billy and Jimmy Lee returning to the mean streets, only this time in Japan. The game was developed by members of the original development team, including original planner Yoshihisa Kishimoto, designer Koji Ogata, and composer Kazunaka Yamane.

Nier: Automata demo now available on PSN for PS4

Players can now try a portion of Nier: Automata. Co-developed with Platinum Games, the action role-playing game finds combat android 2B on a mission to destroy a weapon stored inside a large facility. The demo can be downloaded off of PSN. A trailer was also released highlighting Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy XV collaborations with 2B equipping Noctis’ Engine Blade and the Cypress Stick from Dragon Quest.

Killer Instinct adds a free costume, The Legend of Thunder

Iron Galaxy has released a free new costume for Killer Instinct’s Thunder. According to the announcement, the Nez Percés assisted the studio in coming up with Thunder’s original look, but the ties to nostalgia and the lead up to release led to them being unable “to get everything right.” Now that they’ve wrapped up season three, the team has returned to release a costume said to be 100% authentic to the cultural traditions of the Nez Percé.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare – Sabotage hitting PSN on January 31

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s first downloadable pack, Sabotage, will debut for PS4 on January 31. The Infinity Ward-developed drop will include four multiplayer maps: Dominion, Neon, Noir, and Renaissance. Dominion is a remake of the Modern Warfare 2 map Afghan, now set on Mars. The download will also include a ‘90s-themed Zombies co-op mode, Rave in the Redwoods, with director Willard Wyler recasting the original crew in new roles.
