Wolfenstein: The Old Blood standalone digital prequel coming in May

Wolfenstein: The New Order is getting a standalone, digital prequel later this year from MachineGames. Scheduled to launch May 5, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will take players back to 1946 as B.J. Blazkowicz attempts to halt the Nazi’s progress in a two-part mission set within Bavaria. The first part, Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves, tasks players with breaking into Castle Wolfenstein, while the second, The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs, sees them fighting a Nazi archaeologist meddling in dark forces within the city of Wulfburg. More details will be revealed at PAX East at 12:30 p.m. (CST) on Friday and Saturday on Twitch.tv.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Ascendance weapon trailer released

Activision has released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare – Ascendance. The footage covers the downloadable pack’s weapon additions. The video also coincides with the release of the pack to Xbox Season Pass holders, who receive early access. The latest addition is a hybrid weapon that switches between a light machinegun and a shotgun, along with an OHM-Werewolf variant.

New Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin video debuts Forlorn NPC

A new gameplay trailer has gone live for Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. The latest footage showcases the new NPC invader, the Forlorn. The video runs a little over three minutes and shows what players have come to expect from Dark Souls II: pain. Beset by regular enemies, a player desperately tries to get the upper hand as the Forlorn closes in and proceeds to harass them throughout the encounter.

LA Cops hitting the virtual streets on March 13 for PC, Xbox One

Team17 has released a new trailer for Modern Dream’s upcoming ‘70s-style action title, LA Cops. A release date was also announced, with PC and Xbox One gamers set to start kicking down doors and taking down the dealers on March 13. After choosing a pair of officers from six different candidates, players must guide them through 13 levels and make sure the two watch each other’s back while they take down gun-toting baddies. Stay frosty out there, you loose cannons.

Hexer conjures up new trailer, screens from Etrian Mystery Dungeon

Atlus comes through with another trailer and batch of screenshots for Etrian Mystery Dungeon, this time for the Hexer. The curse-casting class can debuff enemies, bind limbs, and poison. As long as they’re tucked away safely in the back row, they can curse until their little dark heart is content (or they run out of mana). For more on the other classes, as well as trailers and screens, check out the dancer, gunner, medic, runemaster, and protector.

Shooter roguelike Sublevel Zero announced for PC

Mastertronic has sent word that they will be publishing Sigtrap’s shooter Sublevel Zero this summer for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. The first-person, six-degrees-of-freedom shooter will feature procedurally generated levels, crafting, and permadeath. There are also plans to support the Oculus Rift. Ammo will be scarce, necessitating item crafting, and players will have to navigate levels filled with enemies and puzzles. The description of a roguelike Descent seems pretty apt. A trailer and screenshots have also been released.

The Evil Within DLC The Assignment announced, launching March 10

The Evil Within will be receiving its first downloadable add-on next month with The Assignment. Scheduled to launch on March 10, The Assignment is the first of a two-party side story that follows Sebastian’s partner Juli Kidman during the main campaign. The expansion will feature new enemies and locations, as well as more behind the group Mobius. Players can see The Assignment in action on Bethesda’s Twitch channel on March 6 at 3 p.m. (CST). Part two, The Consequence, is scheduled to launch this spring.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – The Bright Lord out for console, PC

A new downloadable pack has launched for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, The Bright Lord. The new story add-on allows players to take control of Celebrimbor as he undertakes a 10-mission quest to defeat the Dark Lord. The set also includes a new skin, the option to play as Celebrimbor in the main campaign, Elven Archery abilities, a rapid-fire bow, new Test of the Ring Challenge Mode, higher-level enemies that offer Level 30 Runes, and a boss fight against Sauron.

Gearbox has released some additional trailers for Homeworld Remastered Collection. A story trailer for Homeworld 2 Remastered has gone live, which follows last week’s Homeworld Remastered story trailer, as well as an introduction to the series. An Introduction to Homeworld catches new players up to speed and refreshes returning veterans on the games’ mechanics, ship types, and controls.
