Windjammers to get jamming on PS4, PS Vita this August

The future truly is now with word that DotEmu will be releasing the super futuristic quasi-sport Windjammers on August 29. The explosive-disc-throwing game of legend will be making its way to PS4 and PS Vita with six characters, local and online multiplayer, and a Ranked Mode with ladder support. DotEmu wants gamers jamming in style, though, so they have teamed up with Fangamer and Wham-O for official merchandise, including T-shirts, caps, pins, and frisbees. I never thought I would see the day when I could buy an official Windjammers frisbee. We live in amazing times, friends.

Arc System announces crossover fighter BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle

A new multi-franchise crossover fighter was revealed at this year’s Evo tournament, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. The brawler is being developed by Arc System Works and has a tentative release date of 2018. Set to be released on unspecified console platforms, the game will include characters from four series: BlazBlue, Persona 4 Ultimate Arena, Under Night In-Birth, and the web-based anime, RWBY. The announced characters from each are Ragna the Bloodedge, Yu, Hyde, and Ruby Rose. Character design is being led by illustrator Konomi Higuchi.

Puzzle-styled shooter Superhot coming to PS4, PSVR next week

Stylish first-person shooter Superhot will be making its way to PS4 next week. Not only will be it be launching for the system, but the PSVR will also be receiving an augmented version for those who like their action extra surreal. PS Plus members are currently receiving two bonuses for pre-ordering, an extra 20% off as well as an exclusive system theme.

Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth trailer reveals Enhanced Battle System

Atlus has released new details about Mask of Deception’s upcoming sequel, Mask of Truth. Numerous reviews, including our own, mentioned that hours could pass between battles, but it seems that is about to change. The release starts off noting that “first, there’s going to be a lot of more battles,” since the events leading up to the follow-up have kicked off a war as factions attempt to join or resist the Yamato Empire. The increase in combat also means an expanded battle system. The characters, now veterans, will have a higher level cap, extended action chains, and two new moves, co-op final and co-op chain attacks. Two new modes are also being added, training and trials, for additional avenues of gaining experience.

Path Out, PC JRPG, finds players fleeing from Syrian Civil War

A new retro-style role-playing game is in the works based on an exile’s flight from Syria to Turkey, Path Out. Developed alongside Causa Creations, the autobiographical adventure follows the game’s creator Abdullah Karam on his 2014 journey to safety. A demo has been released that includes around an hour of gameplay, downloadable here, and a trailer can be found below.

Tekken 7 – Ultimate Tekken Bowl announced for August release

Players will soon be able to hit the lanes in Tekken 7 with the release of Ultimate Tekken Bowl. The downloadable expansion will be the first for the latest entry, and is set to hit digital outlets next month. No price was announced, but a trailer was released to show the drop in action.

Destiny 2 console open beta to kick off July 21, run through July 23

Console players will be able to play Destiny 2 in a few weeks during a three-day-long open beta. Scheduled to run from July 21 through July 23, the beta will feature the opening story mission, Homecoming, along with both co-op and versus modes. Pre-orders will be able to access the beta early, beginning July 18 for PS4 and July 19 for Xbox One.

NIS announces two new titles, updated release dates for two others

NIS has sent word that have announced two new games as well as updated the release dates for two others. First up is the dungeon-crawler Demon Gaze II, which has been scheduled to launch this fall for PS4 and PS Vita. Next up is Penny-Punching Princess, an isometric brawler for NS and PS Vita, set to be released on March 20. The Longest Five Minutes, a retro-style role-playing game, will go live in early 2018 for NS, PC, and PS Vita. Lastly, Yomawari: Midnight Shadows has been dated for October 25 for PC, PS4, and PS Vita. Trailers for all of the games can be found below.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Knights of Britannia coming to PS4

Bandai Namco will be bringing The Seven Deadly Sins: Knights of Britannia to North America. Based on the manga and anime series, the PS4 exclusive will be an action title featuring characters of the titular group, a gang of rebels blamed for overthrowing the Kingdom of Liones. The party is hunted by the elite Holy Knights, and when a mysterious girl appears to seek out the gang, “the world gets turned on its head and an extraordinary adventure begins.”

Switch version of Namco Museum to get Pac-Man Vs.

The upcoming Switch compilation Namco Museum is getting a +1 with the addition of some extra Pac-Man action. Bandai Namco has announced that they will be tossing in the four-player competitive release Pac-Man Vs. In the game, three players take on the role of the ghosts as they work together to hunt down the fourth player, who gets to control Pac-Man. Two Switch units will be needed to play with all four players, though, as the ghosts and Pac-Man each require their own system. Some of the other games in the set include Dig Dug, Galaga, Rolling Thunder, Sky Kid, and Splatterhouse.
