Rise of the Hutt Cartel announced for Star Wars: The Old Republic
BioWare has announced that the first downloadable expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic, Rise of the Hutt Cartel, is available for pre-order. The add-on will feature a new fully voiced storyline that will see players venturing to the dual-faction planet of Makeb and battling against the Hutt Cartel. The expansion will also add new allies, enemies, and technologies, as well as five new levels of missions and an increased level cap of 55.

Star Wars: The Old Republic gets Update 1.5, free-to-play option
BioWare has released a new update for Star Wars: The Old Republic, Game Update 1.5: HK-51 Activated, coinciding with the launch of the game’s new free-to-play option. Newcomers can now play the game for free up to level 50, as well as complete the storylines of all eight classes. All players are able to access the new content introduced in Game Update 1.5: HK-51 Activated, which includes a new mode, new areas, and a new Companion character.

Dust 514 gets Codex update, new screens, and Skill Point event
CCP’s massively multiplayer action title Dust 514 gets one step closer to final launch with the release of the latest update, Codex. The newest additions include Corporations, the guild-styled squad system also found in Eve Online, female avatars, new weapons, the Skill system, and more environments. Halloween hits Guild Wars 2 with launch of Shadow of the Mad King

NCsoft prepping Blade & Soul MMO for Western release
Following up the successful launch of Guild Wars 2, NCsoft has announced their plans to bring their martial-arts-themed fantasy MMO Blade & Soul to Western markets. Developed by their in-house studio Team Bloodlust in Seoul, NCsoft states that Blade & Soul will allow players “to experience the flowing nature of action martial arts” reminiscent of the combat in such films as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Players will be able to choose from four races and eight classes, as well as several professions, as they attempt to defeat Jin Seoyeon, destroyer of the Hongmoon Clan, in a world infused with Asian folklore.

Guild Wars 2 sells over 2 million units in under three weeks
Shortly after passing the two-week mark, NCsoft has announced that ArenaNet’s latest MMO Guild Wars 2 has sold over 2 million units. Retail and first-party sales were temporarily halted due to demand surpassing server load, and since being reinstated, not only has the milestone been surpassed, but according to NCsoft, the game now “regularly” hosts over 400,000 players during peak hours.
