Developer- and Publisher-specific Articles: Might & Magic Heroes VI
The new standalone expansion for Might & Magic Heroes VI, Shades of Darkness, has launched for PC. The download-only release is available on Ubisoft’s UPlay store and Steam. Shades of Darkness brings back Raelag, introduced in Heroes V, and the Dungeon faction. The two included campaigns, set centuries after Heroes VI, follow The Dark Elves and the Necromancers. Raelag must unify the Dark Elves before they descend into civil war, and the vampire Vein needs to find a cure for the Necromancers’ queen before she dies from a magical disease. A new portal has launched online to coincide with the release, offering additional insight into the history, mythology, and characters of the universe.
Might & Magic Heroes VI will receive a new standalone expansion next month when Pirate of the Savage Sea Adventure Pack launches on July 12. Developed by Limbic Entertainment, the DLC pack will add a new quest that is estimated to last over 10 hours, as well as new artifacts, a new dynasty weapon, and several new bonuses. The story focuses on the return of Crag Hack, who is sent to investigate the disappearance of several ships in the Savage Sea at the behest of the Pirate Council.
To the field of battle! Black Hole Entertainment’s entry in the long-running turn-based strategy series Heroes of Might and Magic is now available for the PC. Might & Magic Heroes VI is a prequel to Heroes V, following a family of heroes as they fight for survival as Angels scheme to end an ongoing war. Heroes VI also serves as a reboot to the franchise, updating the original release with locations and creatures from the World of Ashan as well as adding a new Reputation System to customize heroes.
